Everyone Here is Lying was very captivating! I flew through this book wanting to find out what was going to happen. That being said I was a little underwhelmed by the twist and kind of saw it coming before it was received. This isn’t my favorite book by Shari Lapena but I would definitely still recommend it!

Thank you NetGalley and Penguin Random House Canada for the ARC of this novel in exchange for my review.

I have to agree with Lisa Jewel, "the most addictive book I've read in ages." I could not put this down! Shari Lapena did such a wonderful job creating complex and interesting characters who you do not know whether to trust. I was constantly at the edge of my seat, trying to figure out who was responsible for the crime. The twists were quite shocking and the ending was very satisfying.

If your looking for a fast paced domestic thriller...pick this book!!!

This domestic thriller really had a great build. I like a story where you don't really like one single character and this was definitely it. Add in a creepy kid and I like it tenfold. This book has secrets and surprises galore. At time I was yelling at the characters for doing such stupid things but I guess that is the mark of a book you truly enjoy. And the end- I did not see THAT twist coming!! Love the way the author finished it off.

Thank you Penguin Random House Canada for my earc and finished copy. I highly recommend. This is a 4.5 star read for me.

Where does one begin with a book like this? How about the fact that I have never picked up a Shari Lapena book and now regret it! Her writing style reminds of all the cookie cutter writers I fell in love with when I was young and beautiful, like John Grisham and Michael Connelly, and so much more. As you can tell, I have become a fan after reading this book.

Back to the review at hand. The book's plot is simple, and that is okay, because the author has the ability to make you want to read more or in my case buy more of her books. She has the unique knack of hooking you in at the beginning, middle, and end of each chapter, which is tough to do. Oh, I guess I should give you a bit of the plot to see if it snags you, but I am going to give you the basic plot, or a lot less than anyone else will. After William's affair ends, he comes home to find his daughter home alone without their brother and gets angry. In his frustration, he steps outside to take a breather and when he goes back inside, his daugher is missing, but what the hell is he hiding or anyone else that knows what's going on.

What people will not like is that it takes a little time to build up to where they were going, but once you get to the halfway point, it can either fall flat for you or pick up like it did for me. I wanted to keep reading because I enjoyed that twist.

If any young writer wants to learn how to keep readers from putting the book down, this is a must read. This is the perfect summer thriller and I look forward to reading her next book. Pick this up and I promise you will not be dissapointed!

Enjoy the rest of your day!

Chris Humphrey!

William Wooler is a respected Doctor and family man, but behind closed doors all is not as it seems.
When his daughter Avery goes missing, WIlliams' secrets will be exposed, and as the search for his daughter goes on, it seems as though everyone in this quiet neighbourhood has something to hide.

I don't read many thrillers, but when I do I often find them to be predictable, forgettable and very similar to one another. In fact I think I have used those words to describe books by Shari Lapena in the past.
This one is not like that.

This book was full of twists, everyone was a suspect, and it kept me guessing.
This (at least for me) was a very fresh concept as I have not read a thriller similar to this one, nor do I think I will easily forget this book.

Everyone here is lying is my first novel by Shari Lapena. Told through various point of views, we follow the search for 9-years old Avery who disappeared after an argument with her father. Everyone could be a suspect, since everyone is lying anyways.

I really enjoyed this story, it kept me guessing and it wasn't what I thought it would be. The open ending made me think my version was faulty and I wish we knew more!!

3.5 star

Everyone Here Is Lying is Shari Lapena’s newest novel. To say I was excited would be an understatement because I LOVE Shari Lapena’s other novels. Unfortunately this one didn’t live up to my expectations :(

I felt that it was a bit slow and dragged on at some points, which I’m not used to with Shari Lapena’s work!

I highly highly recommend her other novels but I wouldn’t start with this one if you do decide to read her work.

A strong 4.5 ⭐️

I literally couldn't not put this book down. So many twists and turns. Loved it. Couldn't figure this one out at all, and even when it finally came to light I still couldn't figure out how it would end.
I could feel the emotions of everyone involved. This book goes to show how little you can know what's going on in your neighbors house and personal life.
The Book is told with multiple points of view all happening at the same time but you don't get confused at all. You get to know each character so deeply.
I've never enjoyed people be as dishonest so much!

Thank you to Netgalley, Sheri Lapena and Penguin Random House Canada for this free ecopy of this book in return for a review. This is 100% my own and honest review.

We readers know Shari Lapena. We trust her with our thriller needs.
The title of Everyone Here Is Lying doesn't lie - everyone sure is!
Thank you to Penguin Random House Canada and Netgalley for my eARC for review!
Welcome to the neighbourhood. Everyone knows everyone, or knows of everyone.
When nine-year-old Avery Wooler goes missing after a fight with her father, we get to know those who live with her, and nearby. And what they're hiding.
The book sets out the plot at a measured pace, teasing us into thinking we know who is who and what's what. We don't.
There are many reasons for these characters to be unlikeable, but in a compelling way. Overall an entertaining read, though I personally found the ending a bit abrupt.
Regardless, recommended!
For release on July 25.

Everyone Here is Lying is a page turning, domestic suspense novel that was an quick summer read. Shari Lapena's writing style is easy to follow and flew through this book.

I thought this overall storyline was unique to anything I've read before. Lapena was creating doubt and revealing things at a great pace, so I had my suspicions, but I just wasn't quite sure and had to keep reading. I wasn't sure who to believe or what other secrets were lurking around the corner.

At around 60%, a major plot point is uncovered and this is when the book started to fall a little flat for me. I felt like there were still a lot of pages remaining for this detail to have been revealed and so it was no longer about my suspicion's growing or changing, but about how this will be revealed to the characters and how they will react. While that would be part of this book regardless, I just felt less invested. I wished we maybe dove a little deeper into the the character involved in all of this. It's hard to say more without spoiling!

Overall, this was an interesting concept and I did want to see it through and how it all wrapped up. This was not my first Shari Lapena and it will not be my last.

Thank you Penguin Random House, Doubleday Canada, for the copy through NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

Holy moly! I love a book that keeps me guessing and continually surprises me, and this domestic suspense thriller does not disappoint!

As the title suggests, every character is keeping secrets, and the neighbourhood is not as innocent as it appears.

Without saying too much, there are shocking twists that I did not see coming, and they were fantastic - while equally disturbing! (Please check trigger warnings first.)

I did not want to put this one down over the weekend, and I devoured it over the course of 24 hours. I highly recommend this latest thriller by @sharilapena !

This is my review of Everyone Here Is Lying.

William Wooler, a doctor, is married to Erin with two children; nine-year-old daughter, Avery and older son, Michael. But William has been having an affair with his neighbor, Nora, who is also married and has children. They meet discreetly at a local motel, where Nora ends the relationship as she is afraid of ending her marriage and hurting her family. He had been taken completely off guard.

William is devastated and upset and returns home to find his nine-year-old daughter, Avery home unexpectedly from school. He is very angry at her as she was supposed to wait for her older brother to bring her home, but she ignored the rules and walked home on her own.

A few hours later Avery is missing. The police are notified. Who took his daughter? They lived in Stanhope, a safe neighborhood for families where this didn’t happen.

William isn't the only one on his street who's hiding a lie. Soon everyone in their neighborhood is a suspect.

This was a gripping domestic thriller with a shocking twist…a real whodunit that will appeal to a wide audience. Too many suspects and no real evidence until an anonymous eyewitness emerges.

I was kept guessing throughout and changed my mind so many times…

Many thanks to the author and publisher who granted my wish on NetGalley to read this book.

I just finished Everyone here is lying by Shari Lapena and here is my review.

William Wooler is a Doctor, a family man. Respectable. His affair ends abruptly at the motel where he has been cheating on his wife for months. He is distraught when he gets home and finds his daughter, 9 year old Avery, has walked herself home after the school sent her home for bad behavior. After another encounter with his defiant daughter…he gets angry with Avery…

Hours later it is discovered that Avery is missing.

Who took Avery Wooler? The more information that comes forward, the less likely it is they will find her alive.

This book had me hooked right from the first page and I couldn’t put it down. The author weaves the kind of suspense that will keep your heart rate elevated and you won’t want to stop reading until you get to the end.

I loved the ending. I had not figured out a lick of it. I was blaming everyone before I knew the truth! This book had me tapping my kindle so hard to get to the next page. I love books I can’t figure out.

Every single person felt unreliable and I couldn’t relate to anyone but it didn’t matter. The plot was excellent and I loved how it all unfolded.

There is true genius in this book and I highly recommend it to anyone who loves a good suspenseful thriller.

5 stars, That was the best thriller I have read in a long time

Thank you @netgalley and @penguinrandomhouseca for my gifted copy

This one will keep you guessing as to who took the little girl and why. A bit of a cliff hanger at the end. I enjoyed the way in which the story is told, it is very fast paced while building the characters.

Everyone Here is Lying is the seventh book from the best-selling Canadian author Shari Lapena. As demonstrated in her previous standalone novels like The Couple Next Door and Not a Happy Family, the author is a master at creating suspense and shining a light on complicated family relationships. The fallout from a family spat can have ripple effects that impact a neighbourhood or even an entire community like the setting of Stanhope in Everyone Here is Lying.

All we know about Stanhope is that it is a small American town. People always say that the best thing about living in a place like this is that everybody knows you. Unfortunately, for some residents the fact they know someone makes equates to the right to judge them. Sometimes that sense of ‘knowing’ someone disregards that a person’s public persona may be very different from how they behave in private.

Two of the key characters here are William Wooler and Nora Blanchard. For several months they’ve been having an affair. They are neighbours and have taken steps to keep their relationship private. They meet at a hotel on the edge of town. Their assignations are planned on the burner phones they both carry. The book opens with their final meeting at the hotel. Much as she enjoys her time with William, Nora has an overwhelming sense of guilt that their affair will destroy her husband and children. She ends it and they agree to go their separate ways.

But today marks more than the end of a relationship. It is the beginning of a nightmare for both of them. William cannot go back to work at the hospital as he intentionally did not schedule any appointments that afternoon. He expects the family home to be empty but much to his surprise, his nine-year-old daughter Avery is home.

William discovers that she’s been sent home from choir practice for getting into trouble. This is not the first time that Avery has exhibited problematic behaviour. She has been diagnosed with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) and a learning disability. When she refuses to say why she was sent home, William loses his temper and slaps her so hard he knocks her to the floor. Shameful of his anger, he checks that Avery has no major injuries and begs her forgiveness. Avery ignores him and William leaves the house in frustration.

Michael, who is Avery’s older brother, expects to meet her after his football practice to walk home from school together. She is not at the school nor at home. He phones Erin, their mother, to say that Avery is missing. Erin rushes home while Michael searches places in the neighbourhood where Avery could be playing.

When they are unable to find her, Erin phones her husband and the police. When questioned about his whereabouts that afternoon by the police, William is afraid that his affair will be exposed along with his violence. He values his reputation as the kind, handsome doctor, so he lies to them and puts his reputation above the safety of his daughter.

The longer Avery is missing, the faster you will burn through the pages to find out what has happened to her. The time span covered in the book is short, but a lot happens within a week. Once Avery is identified as missing, Lapena ratchets up the tension and pace of the book. She accomplishes this by letting the action-driven plot unfold from the perspectives of William and Nora, their families, their neighbours and the two detectives assigned to the case. This approach will give you insight into the thoughts of the various characters. You will learn which characters match their public personas and which characters have been treated unfairly because of their reputation or past actions.

The detectives have to sort through multiple lies and misdirection in order to understand Avery’s disappearance. You may need to suspend your disbelief, particularly around Avery’s ADHD diagnosis. Although she exhibits social difficulties and impulsiveness, she’s also capable of things that would seem too complex for a nine-year-old with the condition. However, this shouldn’t impact your enjoyment of Everyone Here is Lying. It has already hit the number one spot on the Irish bestseller list and is number five on The Sunday Times Bestsellers list.

The ENDING of this book!!!! SHOOK me to my CORE! This was kind of slow for me to get into but around 40-50% it really consumed my life. Even when I wasn't reading it I was thinking about it and trying to figure out who it could've been or what happened. Can't wait to read more from this author - I've heard her other books are great too!

Nine year old, Avery Wooler goes missing and as the police search for her it becomes obvious that everyone involved is not what they seem. The ending was a bit abrupt, but overall this was terrific. Shari Lapena is a must read author for me. Thanks to NetGalley and Penguin for the free copy in exchange for an honest review.

Wow! Shari Lapena has done it again! First, thank you to @netgalley @penguinrandomca and the author for the eARC in exchange for an honest review.

This domestic thriller had me wishing I had more free time this trip to finish it sooner. The last line basically had my mouth drop open while on the flight home! (The second picture is from LaGuardia airport where I saw this book for sale a day early!)

Avery Wooler lives in a safe neighborhood but is definitely a troublemaker at just 9 year old. She gets kicked out of an after school class and decides she doesn’t want to wait for her older brother & walks home by herself. While she’s there, her dad returns home unexpectedly when his lover decides she wants to end their affair. He’s upset and hits Avery, he leaves after he apologizes and that’s the last time Avery is seen. She’s reported missing & the police start the hunt to find her.

This is my favourite by this author so far & it’s out tomorrow (7/25)!
