After I read Lizzy Dent's "The Summer Job," I knew that I would read pretty much anything that she published. It was such a juicy, smart romance, absorbing and balanced. "The Sweetest Revenge" doesn't quite have the same magic, but it's still a romp, and a reward for anyone who loves Dent's work. The protagonist Amy is a woman out of a humiliating relationship with an ex, building a new romance with a mysterious reality star who moves into her apartment building. The slow build of their relationship, coupled with Amy's journey in coping with her past and moving towards a future as a development executive, was both satisfying and sweet. I'll still read anything that Dent writes, and I can't wait for her next one.

well this was a slow ass burn that STILL wasn’t fully developed???? i want my money back (metaphorically seeing as this is an arc)

she was cute for what she was but it’ll take more than this undercooked chicken to convince me they were crazily in love and meant to live happily ever 🤷🏻‍♀️

The Sweetest Revenge starts when Amy, our main chick, humiliates herself after her current beau does her dirty. In one swift move, she's in a plane from New York to London starting her life anew. Things get interesting when her new neighbor Jake, also has done something quite humiliating. Then comes the revenge scheme.

I loved this book so much. Once I started, I didn't want to stop, except I started drooling on my kindle because I was so tired. I had all the feels with this book and would love to read anything by Lizzy Dent.

Thank you #NetGalley for the ARC. All opinions above are my own.

I don’t know why I put this one off for so long. Sure lots of it was wildly unethical but at its core it’s a simple, sweet, romance novel. 2.5/5

That first chapter?! Oh my… After first, I immediately felt for Amy, but by the end, I was laughing so hard!

Things didn't start as anticipated, or should I say, ended? Anywho, Amy is everything I would want in a bestie, and though her new path wasn't easy, she deserves every moment of happiness.

And Chris? Yeah, he deserved everything that happened to him and so much more…

Such a sweet "workplace" closed door romance. Really a slow burn but it was adorable and funny and empowering. Rooted in the idea of a viral embarrassing video, it also makes some interesting commentary on the lasting power of the internet's sensations. Thank you to the publisher, author and Net galley for the ARC.

Just by the title alone I was intrigued. I found the characters relatable and fun. I will now put Lizzy Dent on my list of authors to read.
A Big Thank You to NetGalley for allowing me to read/review this book.

This was a sweet story about finding love and facing your fears. Everyone has done something embarrassing at one point in our lives, but hopefully our worst moments aren't captured on camera like Amy's. While Amy's embarrassment keeps her from growing as a person, all it takes is one spark between her and her neighbor to help her overcome her fears. I appreciated that while the attraction between Amy and Jake grew, they focused on their friendship and working relationship first. I loved the Happy Ever After in this story.

3.75 stars. This book was hilarious, and it was a light and easy read, which I enjoyed. There wasn't much depth to the characters (I honestly didn't really like Amy) and most of the novel felt pretty predictable, which is why I gave it this rating, but I did enjoy it overall. I liked not having to think much and that I could read this one very fast. It certainly brought me entertainment and took me away from the stressful moments of daily life, which was nice. I overall would recommend this to someone who's not looking for anything too deep but rather something that serves as a source of entertainment and escape.

The Sweetest Revenge was delightful! Amy has escaped to London after a humiliating viral video of her taking revenge on an ex makes the rounds in NYC. In London, she has set up a life working for a television company but denying herself her true passion. While there, a reality tv star moves into the same building leading to more hijinks as they share a terrace relaxation space. Overall, I loved this book. It was witty, it was heart felt, and it made me smile so many times. I loved The Summer Job from Lizzy Dent and I'm happy to say I will be looking up the rest of her work as an author for more delightful summer reads!

Five Key Feels
-No spoilers, but the entire reason Amy moved to London is really funny.

-I loved the evolution of Amy and Jake's relationship.

-There is a lot of "true crime" chatter in this book, which is not really my thing, and something I did not quite expect.

-I love the resolution between Amy and Chris.

-There are definitely some twists in this book!

The Sweetest Revenge was kindly provided as an ARC by Netgalley and Penguin Group, Putnam. Thank you for allowing me to read this wonderful book!

Y'all, I have a lot of mixed feelings with this book. The entire premise is interesting to me. And obviously the chemistry between Amy and Jake, love that.

But, I also struggled with some things that just didn't feel right in the story for me. There is a lot of "true crime" talk in the story, which takes away from the lightness of the book. As someone who does not like true crime, it really was a turn off for me.

There was also some interaction with her family that I didn't understand. Her mom kept mentioning her Dad had cancer…but then he didn't? It was very confusing and obviously not something, in my opinion, to joke about.

I did enjoy this book, and think it would be a good beach read for this summer. There were just a few things that knocked it down a bit on my review score.

Love a good comeback story. Amy Duffy the main character is just so relatable and real. Hitting rock bottom and running from her problems, actually fleeing the country, starting over seems to be her only choice until her ex shows up and brings back all her uncertainty. Luckily a new neighbor who seems to be in the same boat brings her confidence back and her dreams back within reach. The friendship and growth between both characters was heartwarming, funny, and organic. It was easy to root for these characters and watch them come into their own while maneuvering through real life embarrassments, grief, and work/ family dynamics. Another great read by Lizzie Dent. I received this book as an ARC from NetGalley.

I just couldn’t. I wanted to, but I couldn’t. The cover and synopsis had me excited to read this. I’ve been getting into chick fic more lately. The beginning started off pretty strong but further along I found myself just not caring. I didn’t like any of the characters and it felt repetitive. I couldn’t bring myself to pick it up anymore. Perhaps I will try again some day, but for now it’s an unfortunate no go.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publishers for allowing me to read this ARC.

I really wanted to get into this but I just couldn’t. Idk if it was writing characters plot or what. Just not a fan sadly.

The Sweetest Revenge | Lizzy Dent
train wreck + cinnamon roll + the summer that launched THE career

Amy Duffy is not just one bad day in July. She is not a hashtag. She is not a trending topic. And Amy will keep telling herself that until she can actually believe it! After a big career setback followed by relational revenge that hurt her a lot more than it nailed him, Amy Duffy, up and comer in the television development world, finds herself hiding in London as a promo producer. Whispers of a merger and a new internal development team start circling. Two years after the humiliation of her life, she finds the tiniest speck of hope that things might turn out all right. Jake Jones, hot off his own moment of public humiliation, moves into the flat below Amy and she soon discovers that he is much more than a pretty face. Their connection and careers snowball into a stranger-than-fiction turn of events that is just as likely to end in chaos as a happily ever after…

The pining and chemistry between Amy and Jake is *chef's kiss* and while it’s a fade-to-black sort of literary situation, I’m not mad about it. This is the first Lizzy Dent novel for me, and it carried all of the Emily Henry vibes that I love: sharp and realistic characters, prime banter and electricity, as well as the descriptive setting that makes everything sparkly and magical. Despite the magic, (because there is no cinnamon roll hero without a little sugar) there is plenty of grit to balance out the sugar coating. I appreciated that they had both faced humiliation on a massive scale and the realistic approach to recognizing when to be disciplined enough to put a distraction on hold.

I would have liked a little more time in the last quarter of the book, but I always want more of the magic of everything (and everyone) falling into place. I would have loved to know more about the dreamy stories that Jake crafted and the realization of the connection that they put on hold for so long.

London + EmHen vibes + brilliant characters + sleeping (and bathtubs) under the stars earn The Sweetest Revenge 5/5stars from me

Hits the shelves 24 July 2023.
Massive thanks to NetGalley and Penguin Group Putnam for the ARC for review!

Jake and Amy both have history they would like to keep in the past, but thanks to technology, viral moments aren’t easy to erase. After becoming neighbors and bonding over a shared love for TV, they begin to collaborate on a writing project. However, their shared work soon morphs into a friendship and chance at a clean slate.

This book was good, but bit slow and didn’t have a wow-factor.

Lizzy Dent is one of my favorite authors as she is a pro at writing messy female characters that are slightly aggravating because they are so all over the place. But she also makes them substantially in their stories and gives them a good redemption arch.. I loved the setting of London and the television production industry, but I found the whole viral video storyline a little gross and immature. It was a bizarre story but I did love the chemistry between the two main characters and the '"revenge" at the end! I do think that this is unfortunately my least favorite of Dent's books.

Many thanks to the publisher and NetGalley for this arc in exchange for an honest review.

While I did enjoy the book at parts I really struggled to connect to it and get swept up in it. As I was reading I felt something was missing and couldn’t quite put my finger on it.

This was just middling for me. I thought Amy totally blew her embarrassment out of proportion and it seems unrealistic that she wouldn't see her family for two years over what happened. I also feel like the title of the book, the tagline, and the cover really don't match well with the plot of the story! I did like the characters of Amy and Jake though.

Excuse me, your honor, I’m in love with this book!

Lizzy Dent is 3 for 3 with yet another amazing read in The Sweetest Revenge. Amy, the feisty spitfire heroine is relatable and the story unfolds in a pace that feels believable, especially the slow burn romance!

Umm…I am ready to take a bullet for Jake! He is a delightful cinnamon roll darling and we must protect him at all costs. I loved the slow roll of their relationship. The happy moments felt earned and satisfying.

I can’t wait for Dent’s next project! She always comes up with interesting premises that make me wonder what it would be like to live that life and the style of her writing allows for that experience
