I’m not sure how I feel about this one still. I liked it while I was reading it but I found it very forgettable. I did really like the characters and the story line.

In this fun read from Lizzy Dent, a woman's quest to rebuild her life takes an unexpected turn.
Amy Duffy faces a colossal embarrassment when her boss/boyfriend, Chris Ellis, sabotages her job and abandons her right before her cousin's wedding. In a fit of drunken frustration, Amy skips the wedding, leaves a memorable mark on Chris' car, and becomes an unwitting star of a viral video. Unable to face her family and co-workers, she escapes to London for a less glamorous job at a smaller studio.
In her new role, overseeing promos for reality TV shows, Amy begins to find her footing. When an opportunity arises to pursue her dream job, she seizes it. Enter Jake Jones, her charming new neighbour and a talented writer with his own share of embarrassing moments, including an ill-fated reality dating show appearance. Amy suggests they work together: Jake helps develop a TV show for her pitch at work.
As they co-create a detective show set in London, a slow-burn romance blossoms between Amy and Jake. However, a twist of fate introduces a new interim head of development: none other than Chris. While the plot may be predictable, Dent's humour adds a delightful touch, making this an enjoyable, entertaining and truly engrossing read. I have been a fan of Dent's writing since The Summer Job, and she has quickly become an auto-read author for me.

Bridesmaids meets Emily in Paris —in London—in this hilarious and heartfelt story of one handsome neighbor, one no-good ex, and the summer Amy Duffy makes the comeback of her life.
Her past is a mess. But her present is about to get delicious.
Amy is more than one disastrous night of drunken revenge on her boss/ex-boyfriend’s Audi—the night that tanked her rising TV producer career and led to a hasty move to London for a fresh start. She is thirty years of awesomeness. At least, that’s what Amy tells herself every morning before trekking to her mediocre job making trailers at a failing British TV channel.
Two years later, she’s finally starting to believe it. Sparks are flying between her and Jake, her handsome new downstairs neighbor, and there’s a competition at work that just might get her career back on track while bringing her and Jake even closer. But then, in a twisted turn of fate, the ex-boyfriend who wrecked her life is hired as her new boss and past and present are about to epically, hilariously collide.
My Opinion
Lizzy Dent is one of those authors that I enjoy reading. This book was one of those that I knew I wanted to read but I have been struggling to find the time. Within chapters I was hooked, this was such a pleasure to read. Amy is trying to recover following a break up but I didn't really like the way that she treated Jake. I enjoyed this book but I really would've liked a bit more Jake and Amy.
Rating 4/5

This one is hilarious - I found myself cackling out loud at the antics of the main character! If you've ever had an ex really throw an axe into your back, check this one out. I loved it!

⚠️ This book is filled with romance and lots of the F*** word and the C*** word. Like alot. But closed door romance. 🤔
Amy Duffy is a tv producer in NYC. She and her boyfriend/boss Chris are about to jump on a train. They are heading to her cousins wedding. Before boarding Chris lets her know that her shoe wasn't picked up. He even claimed it as his own but didn't choose it because it would look bad. Amy is upset and calls him out. They break up and don't go to the wedding. Amy instead gets shit faced drunk and urinates on his new Audi soft top convertible. Someone films her and the video goes viral. Amy moves to London and goes into hiding. Amy's new company hires Chris as an interim boss. Amy wants revenge. She enlists her neighbor Jake who just got famous from running away at a reality show. He's a screenwriter and they write a show.
This was a cute fun romance. I listened to it in one sitting. The narrator is one of my favorites. I really enjoy this author and I can't wait to read the rest of her books.

I struggled to connect with the main character in this story, which made it hard to really connect with the story as a whole. I had high hopes for this one but it took me awhile to finish.

I thought this one started off really strong. Amy was a likeable, quirky main character with and interesting life event and career. I also enjoyed the cat and mouse game between her and her neighbor. I felt as though the ending was rushed and lacked some emotion. This was definitely a cute read that I enjoyed!

I loved this sweet book! It was so fun to read- the characters were fun, the plot was exciting and well-paced. I loved the revenge aspects of the plot as well- they were exciting but not too outlandish. The romance was lovely and not too spicy but there’s a ton of good tension. Overall, I really enjoyed this!

Whilst a little cheesy and slow at times, The Sweetest Revenge was a heartwarming read that I ended up really enjoying.
Although not the most page turning of novels, I found that the characters were endearing, Jake in particular. A charming easy read that’s definitely worth picking up!

Amy Duffy seems to have it all: a promising career in TV development, life in NYC, and dating her attractive boss. But one disastrous day has Amy leaving her old life behind for a fresh start in London.
I enjoyed this hilarious rom-com. I loved Amy’s spunky personality and rash, in-the-moment decisions that make for an entertaining plot—the setting shifts from New York City to London with a brief trip to Wales. Lizzy Dent gives us a little glimpse into the life of the TV development world, which I found fascinating.
I recommend this book for anyone who loves a light, humorous romance story but would suggest reading the physical book over audio. I liked the narration of Amy’s voice, but when Jake’s voice was portrayed, it didn’t feel authentic. While he is supposed to be from Northern Wales, his accent sounded partly Irish but partly a terrible impersonation of an Indian accent. I was able to get used to it eventually, but not until I was well into the second half.
This was my first Lizzy Dent book, and I’m excited to dig into some of her other books soon.
Thank you, NetGalley and Putnam Books, for the ARC.

Amy is a producer/development executive, who trashes her ex-boyfriend/boss's Audi and subsequently ends her promising career in New York. She tries to rebuild her life at a British TV company and sparks a romance with Jake. She and Jake join forces to pitch a TV show, for which her ex-boyfriend/ex-boss accepts the job as her NEW boss. Laugh out loud.

A lot of people love Lizzy Dent’s books! I was unable to get into this book and ended up skimming through it. Such a bummer!!

This was a mix of a hallmark movie and a 2000s rom-com, It was funny and heartfelt, while a little swoon-worthy as well. Such a fun read!

This one was fast paced, light hearted and low drama. The romance was slow burn and closed door and also a bit of a background plot line. There were mentions of sex/sexual acts and there was a bit of profanity, which I don’t mind but some people do. Nothing really major happens, Amy embarrasses herself at the beginning of the book and takes the whole book to get over herself. I did enjoy the family members and friends of the two main characters, Amy, not so much. There were a few endearing moments towards the end of the book, when she finally confronts everything. I guess the sweetest revenge is owning your shit and moving on? There was no revenge plot per se, as the title would imply.

Her past is a mess. But her present is about to get delicious.
What a fun read! I had a good time with this one. This book is the definition of a rom-com - it had me chuckling and swooning.

i loved this book!! the banter was everything! it was a funny, lighthearted, as well as a romantic read that was quite enjoyable. Sweet, slow-burn story focusing on moving on and forgiving yourself. For being such a closed door story I was a little surprised at the language used as it didn't seem to fit the characters or plot.

This book was such a fun and quick read. I loved how it was set in London and the synopsis of "Bridesmaids meets Emily in Paris" immediately hooked me. I enjoyed the growth of the main character Amy. I liked seeing her ability to stand up for herself and accept responsibility for her mistakes.

Amy is sure she is on the verge of finally achieving her dream, getting the television series she developed greenlit. But then her boss, and boyfriend, let her know that he and the studio have decided not to move ahead with the project. Shocked and furious, Amy gets her revenge on his car, in a moment that is unfortunately captured on video and is widely distributed. Reeling from embarrassment, Amy flees for London and a job an old friend gets her making trailers for a struggling British TV channel.
Two years later, Amy feels like her life has finally stabilized and may be looking up. A new neighbor has moved into her building, and the two seem to be hitting it off. And then the TV channel she works at decides to rebrand and is in the market for original content. They give Amy the chance to develop and pitch a new series. Amy partners with her neighbor, Jake, on the pitch, and the two develop a proposal that Amy believes may be the best work she's ever done. But when her ex-boyfriend unexpectedly returns as her new boss, Amy wonders if her past is once again going to sink the future that seems to finally be in reach.
This was a charming and highly entertaining novel. You will find yourself rooting for Amy and her comeback, both professionally and personally, even as you are frequently laughing at the circumstances she finds herself in.
Highly recommended!

I'm so mad at myself for taking so long to pick up THE SWEETEST REVENGE. I adored Lizzy Dent's THE SUMMER JOB and was excited to get approved for her newest novel.
While I didn't love it quite as much as TSJ - I think TSR was still a fantastic read; a relatable, flawed and funny FMC with a MMC we want to root for...but a not-so MC that we immediately hate. The pacing was fast - always something happening - and never felt like it lulled too much.
I ultimately listened to the audiobook and enjoyed the narration; it was also easy to follow along with and keep up with the characters via audio.
Overall, I'm excited to follow Dent's future works!

3.5 Stars - This is a light and amusing romantic comedy with likeable characters. Amy Duffy, escapes to London after a dramatic breakup with her boss and a failed business proposal. She ends up living in the same apartment building as a failed reality romance show star and a flirty business collaboration begins. While I appreciated the plot line of two individuals healing from past trauma, the overall romance and chemistry was lacking a spark.
Sincere thanks to NetGalley, PENGUIN GROUP Putnam, and G.P. Putnam's Sons for an advanced reader copy in exchange for an honest review.
