amazing story and characters
would highly recommend
thanks to publisher and netgalley for the arc of this book
The summer job is one of my favorite books. It gave me all the feelings and had me wishing I was living abroad. This book was okay. I Just felt a little let down by it. Hopefully the next one will be even better.
Any story with a hilarious drunken revenge scene is my kind of story!
I loved getting to know the characters in this book! Amy was so fun and relatable, and I could read about Jake forever, such a sweetie! Their chemistry was great!
This is a fun, lighthearted, romantic book that I will read again!
Thank you to the publishers and NetGalley for an advanced reader copy in exchange for my honest review!
This was a cute story with enjoyable characters. I liked Amy as a main character, and I caught the slight Brooklyn 9 9 reference in the names.
I did however not find a whole lot of chemistry between Amy and Jake, and at times it was difficult to believe their relationship.
I also didn't really understand how Amy avoided her family for two years after her break up in the US. The reason felt completely blown out of proportion.
It's quite sweary, which is fine for me, but I feel some US readers won't enjoy the use of the C word.
Overall this was a pleasant read, but with a few misses for me.
This was a cute sweet love story with likable main characters. I struggled a little bit to find the chemistry between them, but all-in-all I would recommend this book.
Thanks to Putnam and Sons for my ARC!

I didn't enjoy this as much as I thought I would. Funny but a bit rote.
Thank you NetGalley and the publisher for an advanced copy in exchange for an honest review. I have previously read Lizzy’s work and always enjoys her style. She always writes relatable strong female leads.
I love love Lizzy dent and the quirky protagonists she writes. This was a win for me. Will be reading her books from now on
This was a fun, lively read -- a romantic comedy set in the world of TV production. Amy, a talented producer/development executive, experiences one of a modern woman's worst nightmares: an ugly incident that goes viral on social media. When she drunkenly gets revenge on her ex-boyfriend/boss by trashing his Audi, it ends her promising career in New York City, and she flees to London for a reset. No one knows her shame there, and she can start anew.
Trying to rebuild her life at a British TV company, she sparks up a romance with the hunky new downstairs neighbor, who happens to be a screenwriter. When the two join forces to pitch a TV show, it's hard for Amy to keep her personal and professional lives separate. And then, when her toxic ex accepts a job as her new boss, her old life and new life collide.
The book had many laugh-out-loud moments, as misunderstandings fly and Amy digs herself into deeper trouble. Only one small quibble: Although Amy is supposed to be American, some of her dialog sounds much more British. But that's not enough to ruin a fun book.
The Sweetest Revenge is a story about a girl navigating life after public embarrassment. Amy gets screwed over by her boss/ex-boyfriend and flees the country for a fresh start. Her new neighbor Jake, who was on a reality show, “Fantasy Island” is also suffering from public embarrassment. They spend the summer working together on a script for a murder drama in the hopes Amy gets a promotion at work. Unfortunately, Chris is back in her life again and is working temporarily for her company. He’s once again in the position to screw her over! After some drama and forgiveness with the help of Jake and her family, she is able to overcome her past and ultimately gets her revenge on Chris and her happy ending with Jake. I found the story to be entertaining and kept me engaged. However, I did feel the ending was a bit rushed and would have loved more details on Jake and Amy’s future. Overall, it was a good read and I would recommend. Thank you to the publisher and netgalley for this ARC in exchange for my honest review.
Lizzy Dent is one of my new favorite authors. Her new book The Sweetest Revenge is amazing! You will enjoy spending time reading this book.
**I received an ARC of this book courtesy of NetGalley and the publisher. All opinions expressed in this review are my own and given freely**
I enjoyed parts of this book and also some of the portrayals of the stories just didn't engage me so it's mixed for me.
thank you to netgalley for the advanced reading copy. I really enjoyed this and will be getting copies for my shop.
Amy made a mess of her life after a video of a very embarrassing incident went viral. She moved from New York to London to start fresh. She has an amazing new opportunity at work and a hot new neighbor who just came off a reality show. Things seem to have turned around for Amy until the person in charge of her new work opportunity turns out to be someone from her own life. The one person who hates her the most from her old life. Does she cut and run like she did last time her life fell apart or does she figure out how to stay in her new life and make the most of a bad situation?
This book hit the right spot for a rom-com. It's funny, heartwarming, and just enough romance to keep you on the edge of your seat. I enjoyed so many things about this story. Definitely a great rom-com for summer.
Thank you to NetGalley and Penguin Group Putnam for the ARC of this book.
OMG she did it again!
Funny, entertaining, hilarious and sweet - how can you not love this book!?!
I sincerely hope this will become a TV show, it would be perfect. Well done, Lizzy!!
Lizzie Dent, I knew as soon as I read your latest release, I would be counting down for your next!!!
The Sweetest Revenge will make you laugh out loud as Amy (who reminds me a bit of Amelia Bedelia, a bit) muddles through her life after a disastrous revenge act she enacted on her ex-boyfriend. I feel like she needed to listen to Carrie Underwood's song "Before He Cheats". Instead, Amy climbs onto her ex-boyfriend's car and takes a sweet relieving wiz on his car. Unfortunately for Amy, her act is caught on video and goes viral.
Two years later, Amy has moved on, or so she thinks. When an opportunity at her current job arises and Amy is presented with a chance to pitch her own show again, she's determined to make it happen. However, when her ex appears at the office, Amy is forced to confront her past, while crafting a new show pitch with her very delicious neighbor, Jake.
The chemistry in this book was fun. Amy is a mess and Jake is a sturdy rock. I loved the development of their friendship and seeing them work through their miscommunications, hopes, and fears.
The cover of this photo is so appropriate for sweet, quirky, and vengeful Amy. She's going succeed and stick it to The Man.
I now need my next Lizzie Dent book, k Lizzie?
A huge thank you to PRH Audio and Putnam for granting me access to this title via NetGalley!
American Amy works in tv production and when she is screwed over by her boss and also dumped by him she gets drunk and decides the appropriate reaction to this is to pee on the roof of his soft top car which promptly collapses underneath her. It’s just her luck that in a city of millions there happens to be someone who knows her and doesn’t like her there to film it and post her humiliation on the interwebs. Obviously she must flee the country. Fast forward two years later, Amy is doing grunt work in a tiny tv production company in London when her downstairs flat is rented to Jake who has just been humiliated in front of the whole country on tv and is laying low. Amy can relate. But then! Opportunity takes a hand, Amy and Jake team up to make brilliant tv together in bid to win a pitch but no! The American ex boyfriend comes back to get his sticky mits all over Amy and her pitch.
So this follows the Lizzie Dent pattern book, woman makes life changing move, finds attractive man in vicinity, events happen they fall in love. That’s fine all good. I will happily read that. This one felt a bit slow to be honest, there is not a great deal of revenge in the end, Amy is staggeringly stupid when I comes to the American ex, I couldn’t understand why she would trust him again in the slightest after what he did but she does. I also felt Jakes story was a bit half baked. Entertaining enough but lacking bite.
From the cover to the first sentence I knew I would love the latest from Lizzy Dent! This sharp and quick book set in London about a girl who just can't seem to get it right.
Loved the chemistry between Amy and Jake and how easily they enjoyed one another's company
I really liked the writing of this, I’ve read a book from this author before and the writing is always engaging. This plot was funny and sweet, there were some parts that were quite predictable but still entertaining nonetheless. It was a satisfying ending too, hell hath no fury like a woman scorned 😜
