I am such a huge fan of Lizzy Dent's that I couldn't wait to read her latest release and she is definitely one of those auto buy/read authors for me.
I loved the build up to Amy and Jake finally getting together and this was an example of slow burn done incredibly well. I also liked the little bit of fake dating that we got too.
Jake was lovely and I was immediately rooting for them to eventually end up together.
There's some nice humour in this too and I really enjoyed following Amy and Jake around London as they attempted to come up with their story pitch.
I'm not sure that there was a whole lot of revenge going on other than at the very end, which was a little bit disappointing given the title.
But I did appreciate the ending and seeing Chris get his comeuppance, while also seeing Amy finally own her actions instead of running away from them.
My only other slight issue was the whole topic of Amy's relationship with her family. That felt a bit shoehorned in and was resolved pretty quickly once she flew back to the US.
However, I really adored this book and I'm already eagerly anticipating what Lizzy Dent does next.
Thank you to Netgalley for providing me with an advanced copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

This was such a fun read with quotable quips throughout. Perfect if you’re looking for something fun for the beach or as a weekend binge read! enjoyed the characters AND the storyline which is basically a book unicorn for me lately!

Absolutely ADORED this book! I loved the storyline and Lizzy Dent did it again by writing a wonderful story filled with a fantastic set of characters and wickedly funny banter. Couldn’t put this book down and I’m so grateful to have the opportunity to read a early release of this story!

This was, if anything, an even more satisfying romance than Dent's last—the two characters are so well-matched, and the themes of forgiving yourself for your past and believing in yourself in the future are so moving. A hilarious, sweet, FUN read!

This book is absolutely laugh out loud hysterical. When the blurb compared this book to Bridesmaids I was absolutely thrilled- and Lizzy Dent knocks it out of the park every time. The pace at which Amy and Jake's relationship progressed felt natural and very engaging. The swooning was SO real in this one and I truly enjoyed both characters, flaws and all. The families of both MCs were also just such a treat to add in. This was a couple of sittings read for me, I couldn't get enough.

{Book Review} The Sweetest Revenge by Lizzy Dent

I have loved Lizzy Dent’s last two books but, sadly, THE SWEETEST REVENGE was just okay. Thank you @putnambooks for the review copy!

There were a lot of things I really liked about this book and overall enjoyed reading it. I loved the setting of a TV studio that develops shows and cuts trailers and all of the shop talk of how shows get produced and started was so interesting. I loved getting to see Amy and Jake work through plotting out a series and it gave me Mare of Easttown vibes which was super fun. And the tension between Jake and Amy was so.good.!.

I’m not sure if the digital ARC I got was unfinished because there were a few chapters that felt, in my opinion, completely unedited. Certain words were used multiple times, Amy acted out of character and really bizarrely for what we have come to know about her. It completely pulled me out of the story and made me really dislike her. Speaking of Amy, she wasn’t my favorite. I found her to be really selfish and self-centered in her reactions of what drove her to London. I don’t know, she just wasn’t my cup of tea.

Overall, this was enjoyable, the setting made for a really engaging story and was fast to read but o think there’s better out there especially from this author.

After going viral for revenge peeing on her ex-boyfriend’s car, Amy left her life in New York for London and hasn’t looked back. Two years later, she’s finally going for her dream job in TV development - complete with her writing partner/neighbor/ex-reality TV star Jake. However, when her ex-boyfriend is hired as her new boss, things get complicated.

I enjoyed this - it was my first Lizzy Dent book, but it will not be my last. I did think it wrapped up quickly, specifically (spoiler alert) Chris’s downfall. It was funny, it was quick, Jake was adorable - perfect summer read.

Such a fun story with a twist of revenge. Amy is recovering from a most embarrassing incident made public (thanks social media) that she escapes New York for London! She's overqualified for her current gig but no one knows about her public shame that is until her new boss is announced and it's an unwelcome blast from the past. Will the hot new neighbor who also has a past to hide help solve all her professional (and personal) problems?

Just the beach read I was in need of this week! From embarassing break up to real love... this book kept me entertained.

Add it to your summer (or fall) TBR list!

The Sweetest Revenge is a cute story about a woman finding herself and love after an embarrassing breakup. For anyone who has felt like hiding or has put themselves in a safe, but limiting hole, this is a book for you! I enjoyed how the characters grow as well as the humor of this book.

Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for this arc in exchange for an honest review.

This would be the most perfect beach read for lovers of rom coms (unfortunately I was not at a beach when I read it). It’s a really fun rom com to enjoy and I read it really quickly.

The only negative comment I have is that the language used just wasn’t needed. I know it was done as part of the characters personality but it’s a word that is on the offensive side to many people so may put me off the book. I just skipped over it but it was used more times than I would have liked.

Overall it was an enjoyable read and would recommend it.

What happens when you have a massive embarrassing break up with your boyfriend (secret)who is also your boss and you run away to another country to start fresh. Life is great and going smoothly until he shows up at your company. Has he changed or is he still the same jerk? Amy has moved on and started a new life, new friends, and a new potential beau. She starts on a fantastic project with Jake, her new neighbor/ potential beau to prove to herself and to Chris (her ex-boyfriend/boss) and she’s completely changed. Has he? Ups and downs, hard work and romance are a part of Amy’s story and she’s going to prove that is what she’s about, not an embarrassing breakup in NY.
Overall and fun and funny read .
Thanks Net Galley for the advanced copy!

This book kept going in different directions than anticipated but there were so many avenues for discussion and it balanced all of the conversations well. Good read, good character discovery, good book to fall into.

Another enjoyable read from Lizzy Dent! The story starts off with Amy escaping to London for a fresh start after an embarrassing act of revenge on her ex-boyfriend/ex-boss. Fast forward two years and now there's a hot new neighbor and a chance for Amy to get the career she's always wanted...or is there?

Cute story about bouncing back after a terrible breakup. I found the story to be entertaining but would have liked it more if Amy was more likeable; she was extremely selfish and self-centered. While what happened to her was appalling, it was hard to root for her when her actions didn’t warrant it. I did like Jake and enjoyed their banter and following their relationship but as a whole, I would have hoped for a little more growth on her end.

This charming story started out a little slow for me, but picked up sweetly by the second half. I loved all the descriptions of London, the setting in television production and the lovely ending.

I'm a big fan of Lizzy Dent's book so I was keen to read this one and see how the story progressed. Amy embarrasses herself in New York in a fit of drunken rage against her boss/ ex boyfriend. She tanks her career and decides she needs to escape so she runs away to London for a new start.

Her family pressure her to return home for her gran's birthday but she isn't keen because of the embarrassing circumstances which she left.

It was a really joyful upbeat read and I loved the angle of her burgeoning relationship with Jake, a writer.

This was a really cute and enjoyable read. Loved all the supporting characters like Amy’s family and Jake’s best friend. It’s a slow burn that is more working on a friendship than romance, but the sparks fly. Interesting setting and nice to have a strong lead for once not a wet noodle type.

My only gripe would be the cover doesn’t fit the story. Cover makes it seem like the lead will be an alcoholic or drowning her sorrows in drink, which isn’t true.

Thank you Putnam for my Netgalley copy of THE SWEETEST REVENGE by Lizzy Dent, out now!

As soon as I saw Emily Henry wrote a blurb, I instantly requested this book for an advanced copy! Bridesmaids meets Emily in Paris, this is a heartfelt and fun-loving story about a woman named Amy Duffy making the comeback of her life, both in her career and in her love life, after a humiliating split with her ex that the entire internet saw.

This book started off a little goofy at first and I didn’t quite believe the storyline, but the dialogue quickly sucked me in, the chemistry was through the roof once Amy meets her adorable and hunky neighbor with an embarrassing story of his own, and the empowering nature of Amy’s drive in her career inspired me and it was nice to see a woman’s aspirations front and center.

As someone who also loves the idea of TV writing, this was a super enticing read as Amy moves from making trailers for failing British television to creatively writing, pitching and working towards producing her own drama show.

The climactic event of this book? Amy’s ex-boyfriend who ruined her life is hired as her new boss, so her sparks flying with her hot new neighbor turned collaboration partner collides with the humiliation she thought she left in her past.

SUPER fun read. 5/5 stars. No notes.
