📌coherent thought fades.
I’ve caught fire. The sun has fallen across the bridge. The bright rays dance over my closed eyes, and it has lit me from within. Or, no. That’s Noah. He’s lit me from within.
Review
This book was so so dreamy and a perfect way to start the summer this has the perfect drama, the grump-sunshine duo nailed to perfection and the perfect romance wafting in the air!
Our MC's are attracted to each other but one dislikes the other for being in love with an unrequited love and the other because the other one was a bit rude. The book tales the readers on a trip to France but not the main spots but a castle that's crumbling bit by bit but has a view so breathtaking.
Merry DeLuca has had a crush on her best friend forever but when her bratty sister sees it she wants it and swoops in and takes over and ends up marrying him, at this heartbreak she leaves on an impromptu three month trip to France but what she encounters there makes her a changed woman.
Famous Travel Documentarian Noah Wright is the best man at the wedding but once ge looks at Merry his heart flutters and then lands in a thud when he realizes Merry is in love with his best friend who's getting married it all turns to hate. But what does he care about right? He'll be moving to a French castle for three whole months and his research there was more important than any love triangle.
A well written book filled with all the elements of a great RomCom this book has both my favorite tropes enemies-to-lovers and grump-sunshine combo and it's the BEST combo in existence, the book had a great plot going on, a steady pace, the description was elegant and detailed, it made me want to live there crumbly aspects and all. This is definitely one of the books that I won't forget at the end of the year to add to my favourite collection, so do yourself a favour and go grab this!!-
This was such a great book to listen too. I loved Kelsey Navarro who narrated this book. I found it to be a quick listen and had some really good laugh out loud moments. I loved Merry and Noah! If you looking for a really cute and sweet book, I would highly recommend you read this or listen to the eBook. I hope to read or listen to more of Sarah Ready's books.
It's cute, it's fun, it's not serious! It's a French Holiday in an old, rundown castle with your unrequited love's best friend who hates you. Plus, there's only one bed!
I had a lot of fun listening to this book. It was funny and cute. The Pierre situation cracked me up. The romance was good. Who doesn't love a mashup of so-called enemies-to-lovers and unrequited love? Close proximity is one of my favorite tropes. This book delivers! I will definitely read more by Sarah Ready!
(I hate Merry's sister.)
Thank you to Netgalley and Swift & Lewis Publishing, LLC for the ALC Audiobook. ♥
This is an easy listen for quick entertainment.
My first book by Sarah Ready and won't be my last.
The sister sucked.
I liked the mystery in the book and didn't put it together quick at all.
I love Sarah Ready! All of her stories are amazing and I look forward to them every time she releases a new one!
I loved a former book the author had written, so I was really excited and so happy that I also had the change to review this.
I didn’t enjoy this book as much as the other, but it was also a kinda different genre.
But I enjoyed most of the romance in this book, I thought the whole enemies to lovers trope where to quick over, I felt like they stopped being enemies after a hundred pages or so, which for me was far to quick, I wanted a lot more build up to their relationship.
The mystery part in this book was kinda fun, I didn’t put the pieces together for a long time and thought the idea was pretty good.
I hated the sister as a character, it was probably the point, but I just thought she was way too spoiled and didn’t really understand the meaning of a tough life or in general just having people say no to her, and the main character did nothing to change that, which I hated.
But overall a fun and quick book, with (mostly) loving characters and a pretty fun plot.
This was a great listen for my commute :). I want a holiday! I will look for more books by this author
French Holiday by Sarah Ready is a romance which isn't really my cup of tea but I did like this and some of the characters Merry & Noah. I couldn't stand Angel or Leo I thought that they were very selfish. The book was great and I read the ebook alongside listening to the audiobook. I really enjoyed Kelsey Navarro's narration of this audiobook and will definietely be looking out for more of her work.
The absolutely perfect summer read! Really really loved it!!!!!

Merry’s life could be better. Why? She just lost her job AND her sister is marrying her best friend - who she has secretly loved for years.
To pick herself up after the wedding, she takes her godmother’s offer for a free vacation in a French chateau. The catch? Not only is the chateau in need of major repairs, but she isn’t the only guest - her nemesis, and best man from the wedding - Noah is there too.
The two decide to share the space as long as they leave each other alone. Merry to her romantic French getaway and Noah to work on his next travel project.
We all know where this goes - French Holiday is a light, fun romance and I really enjoyed it.
Recommended if you like:
-enemies-to-lovers
-European adventures
-slow burn
-one bed/forced proximity
-Under the Tuscan Sun vibes
-The Unhoneymooners
- a little bit of mystery with your romance
Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for my review copy. French Holiday is out now!
This book was a delight! I wanted something fun and light to get me out of a reading slump, and I was drawn to the bright, fun cover of this one. It's packed full of tropes (enemies to lovers, forced proximity, one bed), witty dialogue, dream scenery and a fairy godmother (after all, who DOESN'T want to be gifted a free vacation at a chateau in France?!) It had a fun mystery subplot that I didn't expect but it added a lot to the character development. I really enjoyed the narrator, and although it was a longer audiobook than I was expecting, the narration made it fly by. If you are looking for a fun book to read on the beach this summer, this is it!

Open door romance.
Spice 2.5-3/5
Meredith is in love with her sister's husband. Unrequited love that is. A school girl crush on her best friend that exploded when she introduced her sister him one random night and the next week they were engaged! Heartbroken and needing a change from all their love right in front of her face, she quits her job and takes her god mother up on a favor- staying at her french chateau for three months to have a European adventure and reset. But little does she know, her god mother has also rented the chateau to no other than the best man from her sister's wedding- also known as the best friend of the man she is in love with. He is also absolutely intolerable to Meredith and is cold from the beginning.
This book has forced proximity, one bed, fairy god mother, enemies to lovers.
There is some really funny humor throughout that left me cracking up. Some really annoying characters and miscommunication and red flags as well (as any typical romance seems to have these days lol). There were some major character flaws especially with side characters that made me legitimately angry and kind of ruined that potential Happily Ever After feeling at the end for me.
Fun book to listen to and I was grateful to have received the chance to read it thanks to netgalley!
I love being able to travel through books, and was excited for the premise of French Holiday, set in the French countryside.
From the yummy food descriptions to the castle and characters, I thought it was such a cute story, and the audiobook was great!
*many thanks to Netgalley and publisher for the gifted copy
The book was narrated by one person, but the narrator did a great job of differentiating the characters' voices. I enjoyed listening to it, even at 2 or 2.5x speed. The plot itself is interesting yet could be cliche, stuck in a foreign place with your enemies and only one bed available. Nevertheless, I believe that they're friends to lovers trope because only Merry thought they're enemies. To the end, I kinda hoped that the supporting characters would be explored more. Overall, it's a great audiobook to listen to when you are in a reading slump or want to get another reading experience. The plot itself kept me at the edge, feels like wanna find out what happened next ASAP.
this book began really adorable and the descriptions of scenery and food are lovely, as you'd expect in a book mostly set in the French countryside. the family dynamics were just complicated enough, but never got very dramatic. I'd like to see the male main character point of view tho. just thought that could have helped a lot to make sense the way the female main character was acting.
overall, a good book.
Thank you to Swift & Lewis Publishing LLC and NetGalley who provided me with a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. All the thoughts and opinions are my own.
I received this book for free from netgalley for an honest review.
Adorable witty and clever definitely a must read the audiobook was fabulous and the narrator was really good.
Super cute rom-com that I would picture being a Hallmark movie. The setting being a crumbling French castle with no electricity, limited water supply and rodents that snuggle up with you in bed made it seem farfetched enough to belong on screen. While certain situations might have felt unrealistic, the relationships and love story felt real and that's what I was attracted to most. This was a definite feel-good summer read.
Thank you to the publisher and Netgalley for providing me with an ARC of the audiobook.
The narrator does a great job but as for the content, I'm a bit torn about this book. The romance and the plot were fun and as far as escapism goes, this book definitely delivers. In pretty much every respect there were very good, well written aspects but also, farfetched, and random aspects. For example, the characters- Noah and Merry are well grounded in reality and pretty well written and developed but on the other hand basically, every other character is a very clear architype and/or caricature. The same thing with the plot- 80% of the plot is very normal and well developed but about 20% is just very random and unrealistic feeling. Basically, you kind need to go into this being very willing to suspend your disbelief at the drop of a hat and roll with the punches.
Also why is everyone getting engaged one day after getting together??? Is that supposed to be romantic? Because I just find it to be alarming.
