Review:
This is my first Ruth Ware novel. I have heard such high praise for her suspenseful writing. I was very excited to receive this Advanced Reader Copy. I loved the premise of the book, and felt the author’s plotline started off strong. However, the book quickly become predictable. I was slightly disappointed after all the hype behind her name. I will read another one of her novels, since some reviews say this isn’t her strongest novel.
Thank you to Ruth Ware, Scout Press, Simon and Schuster, and Netgalley for the Advanced Reader Copy for free. I am leaving this review voluntarily.

I was instantly hooked on Zero Days. It kept me turning the pages but lost me a little in the whole plot line. I was definitely entertained but it wasn't my favorite Ruth Ware read.

I was really excited to read this new Ruth Ware title and it did not disappoint. First, I love pen tester stories - I can't get enough of hearing about them in podcasts and online - but for some reason, there haven't been many novels on the subject despite how exciting and fun it is. I love the idea of scamming for a good cause, of people turning their worst impulses into a force for good. Jack and her husband make a great team, with her slipping into businesses and trying to get access to their computers and data, and him hacking his way in once she's established a connection. It all goes terribly wrong when she is caught one night by a uninformed security team and when she returns home much later than she expects she finds her husband brutally murdered. The police aren't buying her story, and she is desperate with grief and fury. This novel is action-packed and tense but not so tense that it's uncomfortable - just tense enough to keep turning the page. Read this if you love tough women who don't back down, scammers who are good guys, and satisfying endings.

Zero Days has overall really exciting pacing and action, The only thing that continually distracted me was word choice and storyline around the “hacking,” it seemed possible that Ruth Ware is not super familiar with technology, IT, and what is actually out there in the world when it comes to digital security. I don’t think this would necessarily be distracting to a reader who is not chronically online or hyper aware of tech issues and current events, but I did roll an eye or two over the course of the book.

Jack and her husband Gabe are penetration specialists that a company will hire to test their security. Gabe does the computers and Jack goes into the buildings. One night Jack comes home to find her husband has been murdered. The cops quickly decide to focus on her as the only suspect, so she needs to figure out who actually did this.
The pacing of this is good and the story was interesting enough but for some reason I didn’t love it and was happy when it was over.
NetGalley provided an advance copy of this novel, which RELEASES JUNE 20, 2023.

KEPT ME right on the EDGE of my seat. Ruth Ware is back! Highly recommend this one to all thriller lovers.

Amazing story by an author who really is a master of her craft. The tension builds from the very beginning as “Jack”, must avoid the police and find out who killed her hacker husband. The chase is well-planned by the author as Jack escapes countless dangers and betrayals.

I want to begin this by saying that I am a huge Ruth Ware fan. I’ve read everyone of her books and generally find them engrossing. However, this book seemed a departure for her, both in content and in style, and it just didn’t work for me as a reader. That I think is really just because I enjoyed her other books so much, and this one is so different, I would not normally reach for a book about technologytechnology crime or hackers For me. There was way too much technical jargon, and it took way too long to get to what happened I did really like the main character and I thought the premise of what they did for a living was super interesting, it was just not my kind of book. I would highly recommend this for people that are into Tech, bitcoin, and the issues around cyber security.

Zero Days has been compared to The Fugitive. This is a good comparison. The days in the book go by, counting down to Zero. I finished this book a week ago, and now am having difficulties remembering what happened.

Ruth Ware is an author that I will always read. Her thrillers always keep me in suspense. I really rooted for Jack in this one. The relationship between her and Hel, her instincts, and her perseverance were all pros for me. Cole seemed shady right from the interaction about the phone and knew he must be involved at the onset of the cabin scene. Despite Cole being obviously involved, I found it enjoyable to the end and a very satisfying conclusion. Thank you!

This book seemed to be a bit of a departure from Ruth Ware's usual type—a bit more of an action movie/spy thriller vibe to it—but it was still unfailingly faithful to her style. I can't say I was surprised by any of the reveals, but it was a fun read nevertheles (when I wasn't yelling out loud at the main character for being so dense).
(Entirely unrelated, but there were a few surface details that put me in mind of "Dog of the North" even though they're very different books.)

Oh my goodness, this book! Wow! The excitement and action started in the first chapter and never stopped! This is I think Ruth Ware’s best book yet.
Jack and her husband Gabe work together to help companies determine where their security risks are. After a routine assignment ends, Jack comes home and finds Gabe murdered. Quickly, the police start to suspect her. She has a very short amount of time to find out who actually killed her husband before she herself is killed or arrested.
Easy 5⭐️ from me, I couldn’t put it down! Thank you to Gallery Books, the author, and NetGalley for the free advance reader copy. This review is my honest opinion. Pub date June 19, 2023.

I enjoy Ruth Ware and have read several of her books! I couldn't wait to read Zero Days because of the premise and the promise of a heart pounding mystery! Immediately I felt drawn in and had to know what happened. As I was finishing, I kept having my own inklings about what was coming and felt triumphant about getting some of those correct in the end. What stuck out after I finished was the parts that felt a little more unbelievable. The ability to be on the run for so long, and have such a major injury and still be mobile and flying off buildings. I loved the story and felt completely entertained the entire time! A easy fun read that I will be recommending!

I have been a fan of Ruth Ware for quite some time and was excited to be approved to read an ARC of this book. It is not like her normal books, but I still enjoyed it. it is very much a spy (Jason Bourne) type of fee l and following someone om the run. I also enjoy those type of book sand enjoyed this book. I would recommend to anyone who enjoys a spy thriller and will be buying a copy when its released. Thank you NetGalley.

When Jack cannot get ahold of husband Gabe. She comes home to find him murdered. After being questioned by the police she has suspicions she is a suspect and goes on the run, avoiding arrest and trying to find Gabe's murderer. With her background breaking into security systems for a living to help companies upgrade them must use her skills to stay hidden from cameras and police.
Ware does not disappoint. Good twists and turns in the book, even though i was able to predict who the murderer was, or who was involved, it still held my attention. Jack a likable character is not only fighting the clock against the police, but also injured. With rapidly declining health she must find Gabe's killer to prove her innocence.
Thank you to Simon and Schuster for this ARC

2.5
Waffling a bit back and forth on this one. It's definitely a break from what Ware traditionally writes. In "Zero Days", we are presented with more of a spy thriller a la the Bourne series.
Ware's past couple books were misses for me, and I was looking forward to her taking on something new, but unfortunately this one fell flat. The book itself is slow, not delivering the fast-pace that I would associate with a spy thriller. There are repetitive descriptions that I found myself skipping over because they were unnecessary. (An immediate example that comes to mind are the descriptions of Jack's wound. There were just so many of them.)
Overall though, it wasn't a horrible read, and I don't regret the time I spent reading it. It's a bit of mental junk food, and sometimes you need that.

This book just wasn't for me. I don't think that adrenaline-based, on-the-run-type thrillers are my cup of tea. Jack was on the run for basically 80% of this book, and it started to feel very repetitive. The culprit was pretty obvious but I did find how that evolved and the whole reasoning behind why her husband was killed very interesting. I just had a hard time enjoying this type of mystery. I got very tired and grossed out from hearing about her wound over and over. Jack also seemed kind of superhuman to be able to do all of this with a horrible injury. Overall, it was an interesting story but I felt a bit weary from the high intensity that also somehow felt repetitive.

This was a fast-paced book, easy to get into with a great protagonist. Some of the parts were unbelievable, but it kept it interesting. It was a fast read and had a satisfying ending.

Just not my favorite Ruth Ware book. I felt like it just wasn't as enjoyable as the other books I have read by this author. I don't love an on the run book. Overall, the writing wasn't bad, it just wasn't my favorite. Thank you netgalley for this arc in exchange for my honest opinion.

Another great book by Ruth Ware. It's very different from her other story lines, but still full of twists and turns. Jack comes home from a job to find her husband, Gabe, has been murdered. She quickly becomes a suspect, so she starts trying to figure out who did it and clear her name. Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for the ARC.
