Perfect for the child who likes to ponder and have a fascination for the darker side of life. This is not everyones cup of tea but I found the book to be very interesting.

The Catcher Dream - A Valuable Lesson in Self-Empowerment and Resilience

"The Catcher Dream" follows an interaction between the narrator and a fictionalized character – the Catcher Dream. This narrative forms a gentle yet firm exposition on conflict resolution, self-assessment, and establishing boundaries, which are fundamental lessons for a child's development.

What sets this book apart is the careful, thoughtful manner in which it addresses these sensitive topics. Manuel's simple yet meaningful words blend seamlessly with the engaging illustrations, forming a harmony that respects the seriousness of the subject matter. This balance helps children visualize and comprehend the conflict presented and how it is resolved by the narrator.

Moreover, "The Catcher Dream" serves as a valuable tool for caregivers, aiding them in introducing these essential topics to children. Through the narrator's actions, children observe a balanced yet firm approach to conflict resolution, enabling them to understand the importance of personal space, respect, and boundaries.

I requested this book because of the title and cover, so I had no idea what it was about. I feel like I need more context about this book. Maybe where the inspiration came from, the artistic choices, I’m not exactly sure. But it was odd. I didn’t understand the purpose, the text and illustrations didn’t match. I read through it and thought, “I have no idea what that was”. Maybe I missed something, context, background, I don’t know. Unfortunately, I didn’t like it at all.

My 3 year old son has requested this book every night since we got it. I think he likes the illustrations which I was worried would be a little scary for him, but he LOVES. I also like that it teaches to respect peoples wishes and boundaries, and to stand up for yourself.

Thank you, Balboa Press/Hay House Inc, for the advance reading copy.

This is a very well illustrated book. I find the writing quite fascinating. However, I feel the writing should stand out if it’s printed over dark areas of the illustrations. Otherwise, this is a good haunting read.

Amazing Childhood Classics that will encourage children to speak up and let one know if they are making them uncomfortable. This is an artistic and unique exercise that educators can use during story telling. Even parents for that matter. How to handle conflict, and how to speak up. How to articulate respect of personal space and more.
