Sylvie Stewart has written another fabulous & entertaining book that will make you laugh!! Hollis & Cash are a great couple that you want to have their HEA that is a interesting, funny journey. Also loved the adorable pets in the story & promoting adopting them from a shelter. You will also enjoy all the supporting characters in the book, Cash’s mom is hoot!! I highly recommend this book, you won’t be disappointed!! I received an arc from Netgalley & publisher for an honest review.

The perfect start to a new series
5 stars

I have read/listened and enjoyed many, many Sylvie Stewart books but this one just blew my expectations to smithereens. But before I start waxing lyrics - the important parts. This is the first book in a new series called Love on Tap. It’s a standalone story with a HEA.

This new series is mainly focussed around the Blue Bigfoot Beer Pub and the Brooks’ family that own it. First up is Cash Brooks and he’s paired with the owner of the little doggy spa next door to his pub - the woman he loves to hate, Hollis.

We get stuck in right away as Hollis and Cash are in the midst of an epic prank war - each determined to one-up the other. And even more determined to deny that they have any feelings for the other that aren’t hate and loathing. And that balance between love and hate means we get some epic sexual tension and the most delicious, grabbing, take-me-now kinda of kissing when they finally - finally - give in. It’s delightful!

While there obviously the fun and hijinks between our pair - and the convoluted (but still completely understandable) set of circumstances that bring about their temporary truce - each of our main characters are completely fleshed out and feel very real.

Hollis has lots to prove to her family and herself but her happy, positive and feisty personality just won me over from the very first. She holds her own and is completely herself - it was impossible not to love her. Cash is the most delicious grump you have ever read about in a romance novel. And while he does have good cause for his grumpiness, he’s still a stand-up guy with that great balance of being a grump and a complete and total gooey marshmallow.

While I’ve read a LOT of Sylvie Stewart novels, I don’t remember them being as sexy as this one turned out to be. Perhaps it’s the enemies to lovers thing, or perhaps it’s just that chemistry between Cash and Hollis. Either way - the pair together are hugely sexy and oh so very satisfying.

This is the perfect kind of first-in-a-series book. It was funny, engaging, endearing and with the most perfectly, imperfect couple that had the best blend of banter, romance and sex. But it was the setting of the scene in this small town, with this interesting family of fascinating characters whose lives and secrets were teased throughout the book that made this the perfect series kick-off. I cannot wait to read the stories of the rest of the family and also to return to this cute little town. And also to return to Sylvie’s wonderful writing!

I really enjoyed this story and had trouble putting it down. It was funny, sweet and spicy. I loved the family and our main characters just went so well together. Overall, an awesome story. *I received an ARC of this book from NetGalley and this is my voluntary and honest review.

Two more antagonistic neighbors could not possibly be found than Cash and Hollis. They prank each other, they thrown barbs at each other and they basically can't stand each other. Or can't they? There's an underlying attraction underneath all that contempt, very inconvenient and unacknowledged. Until they have to work together and the close proximity makes it impossible to deny any longer. Will these enemies find their antagonism turning to something beautiful?

Funny, sweet and not just a little steamy - this is the kind of enemies to lovers I really like. Cash is the proverbial put upon hero who loves his family and Hollis is the sweet, sassy heroine who puts him in his place and brings him to his knees. This is a great start to a new series, can't wait for the next one.

Set in the mountains of North Carolina, two small town business owners have a rivalry going on. Cash's brewery is just getting its legs when Hollis moves in next door. Her dog grooming business is at odds with the brewery for a multitude of reasons. When the Hollis and Cash start pranking each other, things go a little too far.
Opinion
The setting of this book is right up the road from me. Stewart does a great job emanating what a town in the mountains of NC would be like.
I personally enjoyed the scenes where the two main characters were fighting, not only each other but their own attraction to the other one. There were many places where I found myself laughing out loud at what happened.
Overall, I think that the best part of the book was the way the characters were described and the actions they took. I could imagine meeting people like the characters walking around town with a little vendetta on their mind against the other one.
I look forward to more books in this series.

Holy buckets! I always love to read rom-coms, but I love spicy rom-coms with snark even more. Take Hollis and Cash for instance. Their so-called dislike for each other, heightened by their creative and entertaining pranks against one another, is nothing more than foreplay. They are destined for love, but will their secrets tear them apart?

Cash is grumpy, gorgeous, and loves his family to a fault. When his father died, he took over as provider and protector for his family and the family brewery. He has no time for games and snarky dog groomers who push all his buttons especially after his temper gets his business in trouble. Finding ways to pay for upgrades after the health inspector dropped a bomb is going to be next to impossible until an unexpected offer from his next-door nemesis.

Hollis is proud of her dog grooming business despite who her family is. She is independent, dedicated, and has a good heart. So when she finds out her sister and stepdad may have something to do with Cash’s business problems, her guilt spurs her to help him raise the money to save his business. As the cease-fire brings them closer, Hollis worries about telling Cash her role in the whole health inspector thing because she’s lost her heart and she doesn’t want to lose him.

Ms. Stewart is a master at writing hostility and sexual chemistry. From the very beginning, I was chuckling at Hollis’s and Cash’s sarcastic and hilarious quips. And their chemistry is explosive…that first time together is H O T!!!!! I love that Hollis and Cash are so much alike in that they put family and friends first. Cash comes across as grumpy all of the time, but he has a lot on his plate. He’s really a great guy who loves his family and underneath all of the gruffness, he’s so tender and thoughtful. When he takes care of Hollis after her drunken bender, I fell so hard for him. Not to mention that sexy, seductive stalking thing he does with her. Yum! Hollis has worked so hard for her business and my heart ached for her when her family looked down on all she achieved. I was proud to see her finally stand up to her family and see them come around. Hollis’s grand gesture to Cash is a scene stealer.

Cash’s family dynamic is funny and precious as the sarcasm and love flow freely. In addition, Hollis’s relationship with her mom and friends is endearing.

I am delighted to recommend this enemies-to-lovers rom-com that has so much heart, hilarity, and a few twists that hopefully Carter’s story will address. I can’t wait to read more by this author.

Thank you to Ms. Stewart for giving me the opportunity to read this book with no expectation of a positive review.

3.5. this was fun, a bit corny so it wasn't my favorite but I think anyone who likes enemies to lovers and small business owner type setting along with funny family dynamics, theyd have a good time.

Oh my word! I could not stop laughing from all of their antics!! Ale’s Fair in Love and War was the first book in Sylvie’s new Love On Tap series. It was sweet, sexy, and absolutely hilarious!

Hollis and Cash may have been fellow business owners but that is where their similarities ended. How long could they stay enemies before the hate turned into something by else. Would they be able to find common ground before things went too far?

Watching the pranks these two pulled was something else! This was such an awesome enemies to lovers romance. I loved every second and can’t wait for more!!

Cash’s family-owned bar and Hollis Haye’s pet grooming business are next door to each other. This should not pose an issue except when Cash’s younger brother is accused of doing more than flirting with Hollis’ half-sister. Retribution leads to Cash’s business being threatened and when Hollis realises that her family might be behind it, she tries to intervene and help Cash. Their perception of each other changes as they spend time together. Hollis realises how dedicated Cash is to helping his widowed mother and siblings whilst Cash realises that Hollis is not reliant upon her family’s wealth to make her business successful.
A great romance with some interesting secondary characters. This is a good start to a series, centred around the brewery business.
I received a complimentary copy of this book from NetGalley. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

Enemies to lovers story. Loved both characters and wanted everything to work out for them. Can't wait for the next book in this series.

I loved this book. The banter between Hollis and Cash was fireworks, really. Their chemistry was palpable, them just going at each others throats was so damn entertening to watch. Hollis was her own person, trying to be herself despite who her family was and I congratulate her for that, not many can or even want to try on their own when they don't have to. Cash just took his all family on his back, without asking for help, he took the role of provider and protector, and that's just how he was. I loved them together, they were the same but at the same time, so diferent from each other, they just belonged.

An Enemies-to-Lovers Romance

Hollis Hayes is the worst neighbor in the entire history of neighbors.
She’s also the hottest.
F.M.L.

I don’t have time to fight with the dog groomer next door. There’s a brewery to run, siblings to rein in, and a mom to look after. So if Hollis thinks I’ll roll over and let her drive me out of business, she’s not nearly as smart as she thinks she is.

Sure, I enjoy the little pranks we play on each other, and I don’t hate watching her prance around in those tight leggings. But she’s gone too far this time, even if she pretends to know nothing about it.

I'll do whatever it takes to save my business from going under, and if that means playing dirty with the girl I love to hate, game on.

I feel like it took me forever to read this book. I enjoyed it but nothing kept me hooked so I felt like I had to keep reading. I loved the banter and tension between Hollis and Cash. I'm looking forward to reading the second book in the series.

Ale’s Fair in Love and War
3.0/5 ⭐⭐⭐
I knew when I saw this title, I had to pick it up immediately. I run a beer-and-books pairing Instagram account, for goodness’ sake, so the idea of a brewery themed romance was perfect for me! For the most part, this is a classic and cute enemies-to-lovers with a lot of witty banter and some serious miscommunication throughout. The antics that Cash and Hollis get up to, trying to one-up each others’ pranks, are goofy and fun, and lead to some seriously steamy chemistry later on!

Cash Brooks owns a small local brewery in Asheville, NC that he runs with his brothers, in tribute to their late father. He’s a family man and a business mind. When his business gets a new neighbor, a beautiful dog groomer named Hollis, though, they immediately get off on the wrong foot. This starts an all-out prank war that is sometimes tactical but mostly laced with sexual frustration. But when Hollis’s little sister gets tangled up with Cash’s brother and it goes sour, it turns darker when Cash’s brewery business comes under fire and it seems related to revenge. Together, they set out to right what went wrong and raise the money to fix up the brewery. But spending so much time together will have them seeing each other in a different light.

Ultimately, the love story here was fun to read and full of funny moments that made me chuckle out loud. What I struggled with, though, was that the entire miscommunication was based around something pretty close to a false rape accusation. That just doesn’t really sit right with me in 2023, and it turned me off from really being able to enjoy the story. The entire Hadley storyline here was a little bit messy, and it felt like we were supposed to see a heartbroken high school girl, who had been targeted sexually by an adult man, as the “evil” villain, for not being clear about whether or not they had had sex. Throughout the story, random characters kinda slut-shamed this literal child, and called her spoiled, etc. It just felt really out of place in a genre that’s become so much about empowerment and women taking charge of their sexuality. There’s always room for nuance, but it wasn’t clear to me what her role was meant to be, and it distracted from the main conflict of the story really being about whether Cash and Hollis could trust each other.

Overall, I think the miscommunication could have been handled with more grace. I am not a hater of the miscommunication trope, but this one really just didn’t work for me. But all the other elements of the story; the chemistry between MCs, Cash’s family dynamic, Hollis’s relationship with her mom, and the surrounding friends and side characters, were really delightful. If the remaining books in the series don’t revisit the conflict with Hadley, I’d definitely be excited to keep reading!
