I wanted to start this review off by saying that this was such a fun read, I love retellings, and this is a Sleeping Beauty twisted retelling. I was definitely interested in where the story went, I enjoyed the characters and this was just all around a fun read. I don’t know if I will continue this series, I may pick it up in the future but I am going to rate this a 3.5 Star.

Thank you so much to Kaitlyn Davis and NetGalley for the ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Gathering Frost was an easy entertaining story to listen to. It was a fantasy fairytale retelling of sleeping beauty. The story kept me entertained but not on the edge of my seat. I think this would be a good read for teenagers or young adults.
thanks to #netgalley for a copy of this audiobook.

I enjoyed listening to this book and the story. Perfect if you want a fairly tale retelling. Love the idea of following along with the characters in the next book.

Thank you to NetGalley, the publisher, and the author for allowing me to read this book.

I very much enjoyed the narrator. Although the plot and pacing showed promise, I found myself struggling with Kaitlyn Davis's writing style. While it was clear that she had a strong vocabulary, at times it felt like she was trying too hard to incorporate complex words into the narrative. As a result, the prose often felt stilted and it was difficult to stay immersed in the story. In my opinion, the book could have benefited from a more thorough editing process to ensure a smoother reading experience.

This story is a cute, very lose, twist on the fairy tale. Following Jade as she grows and discovers feelings that she forgot she could have. It held my interest and was entertaining for a young adult book.

This was an enjoyable retelling of a fairy tale, following the modern world merging with a fairytale land and a wicked queen who sucks everyones emotions from them. If you enjoy fairy tale retelling with enemies to lovers romance this is a great book. It is a definite young adult series with fantasy and romance.

3.5 stars rounded up to 4

Gathering Frost is set in a world that was once New York. Until it was captured by magic, an evil queen and a fairytale.

When I first read the description of this book, I thought it would be somewhat similar to Once Upon a Time, but was happily surprised to find it was very different and unlike any other book I've read.

I really enjoyed the beginning of the book, learning about the world and meeting the characters. The middle of the book picked up and was intense, but unfortunately I did not love the ending. I found myself skipping parts of action because it didn't feel very interesting to me, but I don't usually enjoy action so that may just be because of my personal tastes. I also found the romance a little bit too cheesy for me and a bit too fast-moving, but again that is just personal preference.

Overall, it was an interesting story!

My very first audiobook!! I wanted to try out this story for my first audiobook I've ever been read, and I do not regret it one bit. I thought this was a very well written storyline, and the narrator did an amazing job reading out the story and capturing the emotions from the characters. Each chapter transitioned very well when it came to cliffhangers in the story, and it really helped keep me hooked on the story overall. I will say, that I did not know that this was like a Sleeping Beauty retelling or based off storyline revolved around Sleeping Beauty.I admit I should had read the description a little better.
Overall, I thought it was an amazing story and the narrator was did a fantastic job with the story. I highly recommend this for anyone who loves fantasy, fairytale retellings and anything romance wise. I plan on moving on throughout the series and seeing what happens next.

This was a good story. The narrator was great and made the story run smoothly. The description made it sound like Jade is an anti-hero but I wouldn’t really peg her as such. She longed for freedom so took her chance when the queen offered the chance to complete a task in exchange for it. When she meets Asher & draws him into her plan she really got more than she bargained for. I liked the progress of Jade being freed from the Queen’s curse and getting accustomed to new emotions. I didn’t really realize it was a Sleeping Beauty adaptation until the end but I’m not sure I understand the connection. I’m glad I listened to this story.

Thank you to NetGalley and Kaitlyn Davis for the chance to listen to this story.

The story moves very fast. In this case I feel like that hurt the book. There needed to be more time for character development. I love fairytales though and will still recommend if.

Ok this book hooked me instantly!
It’s a sleeping beauty re-telling set in New York City 🌆

I now want the rest of the series so I can pick up right where I left off.
Because of course the end is like a Mike drop, and I was very much left wanting to know what’s next! ♥️

This little world within our worlds is such a cool idea and one I can easily start imagining so your thrown in head first.

This one was a pleasant surprise! I thought it was just going to be another mediocre YA fantasy/fairy tale, but it ended up having a twist or two that I did not expect. It kind of reminded me of Once Upon a Time (tv show) crossed with Divergent. I did not get Sleeping Beauty vibes at all, but it was still an enjoyable story and I liked the world made up of fractured fairy tale kingdoms that disrupted modern society. I wish the next books continued Asher and Jade's story, but it sounds like they are standalones from various kingdoms across the world. I still will likely pick up others in the series when I'm looking for a light, easy read.

I loved this book! Every now and again, I get into a fairytale/fantasy themed mode, and this book did not disappoint! The narrator has a pleasant voice, and the use of varying tones for characters is enjoyable and not distracting. The story keeps moving, and I like the way Jade's thought process is described. Jade and Asher have compelling interaction, and I found myself staying up late to listen to a bit more.

Fans of fairytales with twists will love this!
P.S. I listened to it twice!

Jade is enjoying time with her mother. When all of a sudden an earthquake hits. And brings with it a queen from a different lane. A queen with magic. Magic that can take the emotions from anyone. Many years later, jade is a soldier for the queen and she’s been given a task of capturing the queens son and bringing him back to her. But while she’s separated from the queen, the magic in jade begins to fade and she starts feeling again. Will she be able to stay kayak to the queen? Or will she betray her in order to save everyone?

This is a retelling of sleeping beauty. It’s a cute story but I felt like the ultimate climax was a little lacking. The buildup was pretty good but then it just felt a little flat. And for me the narrator wasn’t as engaging as I like. I will be looking into the next book cause it deals with beauty and the beast and that’s my favorite!! Thank you to Netgalley for allowing me to listen to this book in exchange for an honest review!

This is an engaging fairy tale retelling set in an intriguing dystopian New York City and environs. It is described as a Sleeping Beauty retelling, but I think it is more closely related to the Snow Queen stories. Either way, I do love a good fairy tale retelling! This was a great intro to a fresh new fractured fairy tale series.

I love that this book wraps up one story line very well yet still sets up the next installment wonderfully, leaving you wanting more, yet still satisfied with the HEA of this story. I can't wait to read the next installment, beauty and the beast retelling, here I come.

The narrator was great, all around this was a pleasant experience.

Thank you to NetGalley, the publisher, and author for allowing me to read this book for free in exchange for an honest review. I really enjoyed this book. It was clean and refreshing to not read/listen to anything explicit for a change. The book had me captivated from the moment I first started listening to it. The author really brought the characters, the surroundings, and the feelings to life all around you. I wouldn't classify it as a spin off of Snow White, but you could feel the fairytale magic in the story. I would recommend this book.

Gathering Frost is a Sleeping Beauty retelling It is a modern day city that has moved into a fairy tale. It was predictable, but I really enjoyed it. I liked the pacing and this is one of the better Sleeping Beauty retellings I have come across. I am curious about the rest of the series.

Thank you to the author, publisher, and Net Galley for an audio arc of Gathering Frost. in exchange for an honest review.

I enjoyed listening to Gathering Frost. I think the narrator did a wonderful job. The story was really easy to get lost in. Davis did a great job with the world building and I could picture myself there with Jade and Asher. I think she did a great job with her take with the Sleeping Beauty retelling. it was unique. There was plenty of action to balance the sweet romance.
I would purchase this for our high school library.

I also look forward to reading the rest of the series.

Thank you NetGalley for a free copy in exchange for an honest review. This was an interesting combination of dystopian and fantasy. A quick fun YA book that you can just chill out with. An ice queen takes over the world and it's up to Jade to defeat her, will she succeed in her task?

This was an easy read. felt like the plot could have been fleshed out a bit more to give some mystery to the story and make the reader more invested in the overall story. But I did enjoy the modern setting mixed with the otherworldly Cardenia. I listened to the audio book while doing other things and as the story went on I did want to know how it ended. The characters were a bit one dimensional at times, even the rebels who were not under the spell so I don't think this was completely down to writing choice. I would recommend if you are looking for a light easy read and enjoy twists on fairytales.
