I thought this was a cute book. I didn’t love it, but I enjoyed it enough. I felt like the plot on this book was just a little loose. I wanted a little more out of this book and out of Rose’s character. Overall though, it is a fun and quick read!

Not Your Ex's Hexes is a super adorable and enchanting novel that takes readers on a sweet and whimsical journey into the world of magic and romance. Written by April Asher, this book follows the story of Rose, the protagonist's sister from the previous book, as she navigates the unexpected twists and turns of falling in love with her half-demon one-night stand.

Asher's writing style is light and breezy, making it a joy to read. The narrative flows smoothly, carrying the reader through a captivating blend of magic, humor, and heartfelt moments. The characters come alive on the pages, thanks to the fabulous narration that gives each one a distinct voice and personality.

One of the highlights of the book is the love interest, Damian. His character is incredibly charming, and the chemistry between him and Rose is palpable. Their romance is swoon-worthy and left me with a warm, fuzzy feeling. Asher expertly weaves their relationship into the magical world, creating a perfect blend of love and enchantment. I also love that his backstory is woven I to the plot so seamlessly.

Not Your Ex's Hexes is a super cute and enjoyable read, perfect for fans of the light-hearted witchy romance genre that is all the rage at the moment.

This has been such a cute supernatural series! NOT YOUR EX’S HEXES is the second book in the Supernatural Singles series featuring a witch and a half demon.

It was so cute and I absolutely loved the magic!
I thought the audiobook was great, and thought that the narrator, Zura Johnson, was a perfect choice.

Thank you to the Publisher and Netgalley for approving me to read this book.

Unfortunately, the story just wasn't for me. I wasn't interested in the demon who wants to be good ideology and I think that's purely a me issue.

You know, even though the world building is completely ridiculous in this series, I really love that it is at least internally consistently strange. I really enjoy the world Asher has created and I'm loving all of these characters. I can't wait to read book three in the series.

Not Your Ex's Hexes is about Rose, who spent her whole life training to be the Prima and now that she no longer has to fulfill that role, she's trying to figure out what exactly it is that she DOES want. What is it that she finds fulfilling? And the thing is, Rose doesn't know that. But I really loved watching her sort of figure that out, even if I think that thread got lost a bit toward the end. Anyway, part of the journey of figuring herself out leads to her being thrown together with Damian Adams, whom she had an explosive one night stand with as well. The two of them have great chemistry, but he is so... buttoned up, honestly, that it winds up being really fun watching him slowly come undone. There are so many hijinks in this book that the plot sort of takes over the characters at times, but in a way that was largely really enjoyable.

I liked both the audiobook and the physical format of reading this book and would recommend either option!

Confession: I don't think I am a fan of supernatural romance.

This is my, and probably last, supernatural romance. I like romance in general- and this one was really cute in places and steamy in some scenes- but the supernatural creatures/people kinda threw me.

Maybe it was because I am unfamiliar with all the terminology and rules. I wasn't sure what a half-demon was like or if norms could be aware of supernatural beings among them. Or how they even function in society

I thought the main story was good and I would have enjoyed it more without the otherworldly beings and stuff. Rose is forced to work with Damian despite her strong dislike for him. They grow to have a special 'buddy' relationship with no strings. Yeah, we know that doesn't work in romance books! Damian isn't allowed to love or it will cost him his soul. Does he risk it all for her?

Thank you to @netgalley and @Stmartinspress for a free copy of this book in exchange for my honest review. Thank you to @dreamscape_media for a free download of the audiobook.

If witchy romcoms with a grumpy sunshine trope is your thing, you don’t want to miss this one! Damian and Rose made me both laugh and cry as we walk with them through this book. While this is the second novel is a series, I didn’t feel lost in the characters and their stories. The author writes relatable characters and a romance you want to wrap your arms around and cheer for! I will be adding the first book to my reading list ASAP!

Thanks NetGalley and Dreamscape Media for access to this audiobook arc.

1.5 stars rounded up

Y'all, I really really tried to finish this book, but I simply cannot. I'm DNF'ing it at 70% - yes that far in - as I just can't get past the cheesy and incredibly predictable story and characters. I've literally guessed every plot so far. And the main characters are just so horny 😂 I just can't anymore lol.

And after the first (very descriptive) sex scene and Rose used the work 'heck' - NO WHY USE HECK WHEN THE BOOK WAS JUST SO SPICY akgjkadg

I will say that I started this not realizing it was a sequel and I didn't really feel like I missed anything, it stood well on its own. Zura Johnson was a great narrator, and even though I turned it up to 2.5 to attempt getting through this I could still make out what she was saying, lol

Thank you to @Dreamscape media for the ARC. I listened to the audiobook and the narrator was spot on. I enjoyed this book alot. The banter between our two main characters was funny and very spicy. Witches are not kidding around when they deliver a Hex that last 18 years. This story was so good and I love that it took place in a animal sanctuary, with a hot Demon Vet.

This is the second book in the series and although it does spoil the first, I enjoyed it without reading the first book.

This was a fun romance read with just a dash of the supernatural. I wish some of the supernatural elements were explained a little better but I am going to assume that was done in the first book. The love connection was well thought out. They have a one night stand, she than thinks he is a bad person, then they work together and grow closer. The story is a spin on many tropes including enemies to lovers, workplace romance, opposites attract just to name a few.

It is a lighthearted book that is a great read any time of the year but especially during the spooky season. I will definitely be checking out the author’s other books.

Thanks you to Netgalley for an ARC in exchange for the honest review.

Thanks to NetGalley and the publishers, I was able to take a listen to April Asher's novel "Not Your Ex's Hexes" new audiobook recording....last month before promptly forgetting I never typed up the review I mentally drafted.

It was a fun romance romp with misunderstandings, mayhem, and magic. I enjoyed the antics of the various characters, and the social politics of the universe were enjoyable. I had a lot of fun with the book, but there were points where it felt contrived in that deus ex machina way--you know the ones, it feels like there's no way out of the problem, nothing logical, and then all of a sudden it turns out the problem is completely different and solved. And don't get me wrong, I was very happy about it and thoroughly enjoyed the journey, but right after the like "yeah! love!" I couldn't help but think the bow was too fast and neat and a little heavy on the morals of being open to love.

Would I recommend it? YES. Am I planned on picking up the other books to read (or listen to) when I get the chance? Also, yes.

I read “Not the Witch You Wed” last year and I LOVED it; so I thought I’d enjoy this second book more. And unfortunately that wasn’t the case.

Rose and Damien weren’t my all time fave characters to read from. I thought Rose was a little immature at times and Damien was way too possessive for my liking.
I don’t have much else to say, it was just a middle-of-the-road book for me.

It was still a lighthearted and entertaining read, but it wasn’t as good as her first book. However, if there’s a third book announced for this series, I’m gonna read it when comes out.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for providing me an ALC in exchange for an honest review.

I was shocked that this book was actually the second book. I scavenged all over goodreads just to see that I don't have to read the first book to read this and I was glad that they are companion books. It can be read in any other.

I was so happy yo have found a book that has the same name as me, which made me liked this book even more. After reading romance books back-to-back, it was nice reading a book that contains magical things and a little mystery, and of course romance is still present.

I love this book so much and I enjoyed reading about the relationship between sisters and how they are so different from each other.

This is a paranormal romance story about Rose Maxwell and Damian Adams.
Rose is a witch who gets arrested while trying to free abused horses and is sentenced to community work as that place was an animal sanctuary. There she meets Damian Adams, who is a vet, owner of the animal sanctuary and half-demon.
This felt like a very slow placed story. I liked the idea of ex-hex but unfortunately it is not used well in the book and gets very quickly resolved in the end.

2.5 stars. If you liked the first book, you'll enjoy this. It's easy and light hearted with a HEA.

However.... I do have a few issues. I really wish these characters had actual obstacles to overcome and not be held back by things that happened in HS. Like in the first book out male lead had an issue that happened when he was 17/18. At least in the first book the ML was cursed to not able to talk about it (although since he could think about it without issue I don't get why he didn't write it down, but whatever, lol). Yes he was hexed, but there were two major problems. Damian was falling for Rose, but no adverse things happened. Yes you could say his Demon popped out a little, but there was never any danger of his losing his soul or control. Also Rose knowing about the curse so early on was also dumb, she was too upset about things knowing the man was supposedly risking his very soul by dating her. These are grown 30 something people whining about things like it's still senior year. The story can still be light hearted while making the characters actually have things to fight against. Like a real enemy, a poison that took a character out for at least a chapter, and actual appearance from the Demon side.

I also don't get why only one out of three sisters has a career. These women are the granddaughters of the Prima, a Triad after a generation was without one, and parents that are well off. These are women that are tabloid fodder. They grew up in NYC area. They should've had the best of educations, connections, and access to the best of the best of everything. So how does one end up a bartender at a dive in a studio apartment, and the other when she gave up being Prima have no real world skills or home. At least one has a outstanding career, but for some odd reason has housing problems too. I'm just disappointed that the grandma said they are going to have to use their triad magic to triumph and so far a normal person could've had the same outcomes.

And finally this is pet peeve that most readers won't notice but it was so distracting to me. I am from NYC., as in born and raised. I frequent the areas she writes about. Also like these characters I drive. I don't know what kind of Google/Apple/Mapquest Map app she is using, but it sucks. Something that was driving me nuts is Rose moved to Astoria, Queens and Damian's sanctuary is in Westbury, LI yet for some odd reason the Belt Parkway was mentioned several times. When there is no reason for her to have been on it. It is out of the way. I guess because the Cross Island connects to the Belt the author thought she would've been on it, when she actually would've got on the Southern State. at the split. Not important to the story I know, but the travels of these characters kept pulling me out of the story. That and the only place where Damian could've had acreage like described in the book in Westbury is in very wealthy areas, so he either should've had money or he should've been in Suffolk or up well past Westchester. I'm just saying I wish she talked to people from the area so even though it's a supernatural alternative NY location things would still make sense.

All that being said I will most likely read the next book. Because it's silly and light, but and easy read and still entertaining.

Thank you to netgalley for the advanced listening copy of not your ex's hexes by April Asher. This was such a a cute romance about magical communities in modern day. Right up my alley and plenty of issues between them. Cute and enough magic that it is worth the read!

This was a case of why did I take so long to read this book? I wanted to read the series after a close friend raved about Not The Witch You Wed, so I couldn’t wait to pick this one up. For some reason, it wasn’t working for me when I first tried it, but I’m so glad I came back to it. I devoured both books in a matter of days.

I loved the enemies to lovers story of Rose and Damian. I was excited to see her get her own HEA after book 1. I really enjoyed the grumpy demon, Damian and seeing him in his element at the animal sanctuary. I also loved seeing Rose find her own way after no longer being the Prima apparent. This has plenty of steam and banter! I really hope we will get a third book!

I listened to the audiobook and really enjoyed the narration!

What a book! I read this not knowing it's a sequel but let me tell you I will definitely be picking up the first in the series after this read! Rose has worked her entire life to rise to the pressure of being next in line to being Prima on the Supernatural Council. When she finds herself stepping down and crossing paths with her half-demon one night stand Damian. They try to start a friends with benefits situation because that's all they think they want with each other but before you know it they are hunting down paranormals by night and helping animals during the day.

I found this fantasy world gripping and fun to read. There was adventure and romance all twisted into one. You really root for these opposites to come together. I really liked both Rose and Damian and loved their chemistry and banter between each other.

Overall, I would recommend this to any fantasy/paranormal enemies to lover fans. Thank you NetGalley for the opportunity to read this book!

This is good romance. I like the supernatural singles theme and that it’s easy to get into even though I haven’t read the first book in the series.
I like Rose and Damian and I really enjoy how their relationship builds. They have good chemistry between them.
All in all, the character and the plot are great and I enjoyed this book a lot. I will continue on with this series!

The narrator is good and I enjoyed listening to them. The book was easy to listen to.
