I adored this book!
Rose aka little witch is adorable and you can’t help but fall in love with her!
She is a pocket rocket in pumps who will do what it takes to do the right thing.
This book has it all, enemies to lovers, humour, and spice! 🔥🔥
Can I just say Mr. Wiggles 😂😂
Absolutely adored the audio version, I devoured it very quickly.
Thanks for change to listen and review this book. It was wonderful.

Just to preface, I have not read the first book in this series, so I don't have any prior knowledge of the characters or the story from the previous book.
That being said, diving in. Violet struck me as a witch who seems to have had her confidence knocked about a few times. Her sister took the "job" that she'd been prepping for her entire life. Now she doesn't know what to do with herself. This leads to sort of a hysterical list of failed jobs.
Ryde share driver…bartender…hunter. Like I said, hysterical. You can take that literally or figuratively. Either way would work.
Damian, the half demon veterinarian, was pretty amazing. He's grumpy, sure, but after you get past that he's basically a marshmallow. Maybe a toasted marshmallow because those are better. He's generous, amazing with all animals, kind, and has a huge heart.
The relationship between Rose and Damian is a lot of back and forth. Banter, jabs, etc. Rose is prickly, a bit more than I would have liked for longer than I thought was necessary to the story.

Anywho! Time to wrap this up with the goodies:

Is it the best writing I've read... no
Was it entertaining and fun with a nice side of mental health discussions...most definitely
I didn't realize this was part of a series when I requested and read it but I have seen the first book in this series many times on socials I just I never got to it, however after this I will definitely go back and read it. In the first half I was kinda bored but by the end of it I was really invested in the relationships not only between the MC and LI but most especially the relationship between the Damian and Julian. The brothers relationship is quite tense especially towards the beginning and I love how Asher went about their past and how it affected their relationship as they got older, the way it shifted and altered after Julian put Rose in danger was particularly well done in my opinion and I honestly wish I got more of the brothers.
The other stand out plot line for me was how Damian was cursed by the witch in his youth and how it not only affected him and his relationship with loving others and being loved by others but how Asher showcased those effects within small moments as well as larger ones and calls out his self destructive patterns of behaviour. There is a scene where a character (I forget who) made a comment about how he already loves her he is just being self destructive out of fear of the curse and he needs to look more into said curse because the way he is acting is because he is so afraid of hurting someone he loves that he hurts them first so he can control how they are hurt and take control over the situation and his fears.
I went into this thinking I was getting a simple fun fantasy romance but it really beautifully analyses the way we not only have relationships with others but how our trauma and fears can effect these relationships and how we act in said relationships especially when it comes to being self destructive from said traumas and fears.

I was not initially pulled in by this book. It took at least the 20% mark before I started enjoying it, and then I quickly grew bored. I think I was hoping for world building similar to fantasy romance novels I’ve read, but this definitely more just your typical romance with some supernatural flair.
I really don’t have much to say about this book because nothing really stood out about it, and it was just a “meh” book for me.

I was provided an audio ARC of this book for an honest review. Thank you NetGalley. Such a fun, sexy romance! I loved the characters, the sisterly bond, the magical world. The POV is third person focusing solely on Rose, the fmc. It’s a fast paced book, which is a huge plus for me.
Damien is a soul hexed half human half demon and Rose is a slightly lost ex-Prima Apparent. This book is not only about them finding each other but finding themselves, which they do in a heartwarming, funny and sweet way. Very much an open door romantic comedy.
It’s a little enemies to lovers and a little closed proximity. You may cry a little, laugh more and swoon over the chemistry.

I enjoyed this funny, fairly lighthearted, supernatural romcom. Some parts near the beginning felt a little slow to me, but it definitely picked up. The plot was interesting, the chemistry between the main characters were palpable, and the references and parallels to Buffy the Vampire Slayer were certainly satisfying. I’m looking forward to reading the third book in this fun series, once it’s available.

3.5/5
I would start my review by saying that I haven't read the first book of the series, but since the synopsis revealed that the protagonists are a different couple than in the previous book, I thought that the book would hold its own. This is usually how it works with romantic series, but I like to proceed in order. I had the opportunity to read this book on NetGalley, so I skipped the first book, but unfortunately I regretted it a bit.
I used to read paranormal romance, so I was very happy when they accepted my application for this book. I threw myself into it with great pleasure. But I felt, especially at the very beginning, that I was missing something. I think the reason for my confusion was that I didn't read the previous book, but I can't rule out that the writing itself wasn't developed enough. In any case, I was confused almost halfway through the book about who is who or what, how the world is structured, etc. For the first few chapters I thought Olive was the main character and wondered why Damian was there for Rose xd
Apart from this, this wasn't a bad book. I don't think it's outstanding, but it was fun to read once. The narration was good, too. But in any case, I recommend picking up the first book first, because I think the story would have been much more understandable.

Cute but probably a bit cliché. You could have predicted the story basically from the beginning. In general I think the main problem I had is that I hate when grown up people pretend they do not want attachments and then they pretend not to care, life is just too short to do like that. The world is magical: there are witches, shapeshifters, demons but it is just the background for the love story which is the center of attention. Still I appreciated the fact there are strong female characters who do not only speak about men, but they try to find they place in the world and to find what brings them happiness.
The audiobook really helped me appreciate the book more.

"Not Your Ex's Hexes" by April Asher is my very first supernatural romance read. I hope they are all as good as this one because this book rocked! I was addicted from the very first chapter. This is a lighthearted, insanely funny friends-with-benefits-to-enemies-to-lovers romp full of banter, terrific chemistry, and not so much world-building that it becomes cumbersome or annoying to read about. I adored the main characters, Rose and Damian, both together and separately. Rose is a fierce, badass witch who doesn't let anything, or anyone, get in her way. She's headstrong, but also a little fragile. Damian is the grumpiest grump, but his passion for animals balances out the clouds that darken his past and present. He has a vulnerability that peeks its way out every so often, especially when Rose is around. When the two of them literally bump into one another, their chemistry is off the charts! I found myself kind of obsessed with the world Asher has created here. It fosters an environment where all people, and all animals, are worthy just as they are. They are worthy of love, acceptance, and being their true selves.
This book made me laugh so damn hard, more than any book I've read so far this year. Asher strikes the perfect balance between the supernatural elements, the family aspect (Rose has two sisters, a mom, and a grandmother who are prominent secondary characters here), the humor, the serious relationship stuff, the animal-centered plot line about Damian's animal shelter, and the spice. Dear. Goddess. The. SPICE. Have an open window nearby when you read this book because WHEW!!!!!!! It's HOT!
Zura Johnson is such a fantastic narrator! She does wonderful, terrific voices that kept me engaged from the first second this book started. She really brings April Asher's words to life! She goes from having a silky-smooth narration to a smoky, husky one when necessary. Each of Asher's characters has a different tone of voice, varied personality traits, and different mannerisms, and Zura Johnson does each of them justice with a fitting voiceover. I loved her work here, and I would go out of my way to find other audiobooks narrated by her in the future. Trust me, she's THAT good!
Thank you to NetGalley, April Asher, Lake Union Publishing, and Dreamscape Media for providing me with an audiobook copy of this book! All opinions are my own, and I was not compensated for my review.

A fun read with a brilliant concept. Some parts of the book seemed a little unnecessary amd long but I did really enjoy the story overall.

I wanted to love this book, I really did. Just as I wanted to love the first book in this series (I didn't). But I should have known better. It's very basic writing, which is sad considering its such a fun premise. But even the first book was just boring, and sadly the pattern has repeated itself. This just isn't the book for me.

Book #2 of the Supernatural Singles Series.
So, firstly, this book wasn't as enjoying (for me) as the first book, Not the Witch You Wed. Now don't get me wrong, the enemies-to-lovers/ forced proximity was super enjoyable in this book, but I just didn't enjoy the plot of "I can't love you because I was kinda shitty to my ex and she hexed me to never fall in love." I felt myself getting easily distracted away from this story and kept coming back to it. However, I am incredibly excited for the third and last (?) book of the series with Olive and Bax!
Brief Plot: Rose Maxwell used to have the stress of her families responsibilities to the withing world on her shoulder. Now that she is free, she is trying to find her way. After a misguided attempt to save what she believed to be an abused horse, she has to complete community service hours at the animal sanctuary, and work for the grumpy half-demon, Damian Adams, who would rather her not. As the two save kittens together, Rose learns more of Damian's past of demon-hunting, and a not so great relationship with a witch that ended in him being hexed. Because if Damian falls in love, he will lose both his heart, and all of his humanity.
Thank you NetGalley and Dreamscape Media for an eARC Audiobook copy of Not Your Ex's Hexes written by April Asher, and narrated by Zura Johnson. This is my honest review.

This one was cute! It got a little long in the middle but overall a satisfying listen. The heroine is a witch and the hero is a half demon. I really liked this unique world that the author created. I loved the banter between the characters. The side characters were especially fun. This. book was well written with good character growth. All and all, this was. fun ride. I did enjoy the audiobook narrator. Huge thanks to Netgalley and the audiobook publisher for allowing me to read and review this book.

::My thoughts::
Such a cute romcom! This story is about Rose – who spent the majority of life training to be the next Prima head witch in charge. She is head over heels for Damian and cant seem to get their one night stand out of her mind. Rose gets sentenced to community service at the animal sanctuary and now her and Damian cant seem to avoid each other. They both decide to be adults and commit to a friends with benefits type of relationship---but that doesn’t always work out.
If you haven’t read the first book of this series, I highly recommend starting with that! I loved this romcom and it as so funny, well written and lovely. I also really enjoyed the narrator- who added a lot of pizazz to the story and made it fun! I’m looking forward to book 3!
*Thank you to the Author and NetGalley for the ALC copy in exchange for my review.

I'm a huge fan of witchy romance and this series and it continues to deliver. I loved Rose and Damian and their romance. They both had such great character arcs and I loved seeing them find each other and their purposes. I also love getting to see glimpses and interactions with the other characters in the series and how the author expertly sets up the next book for sister #3. This continues to be one of my favorite witchy romance series and I can't wait for more from this author.

I really enjoyed this nice and spicy, but with a good story as well. I loved the ending. And I can't wait to see what happens with Olive in the next book! I enjoyed all the animals at the sanctuary though I would have preferred if we got more of the doggies.
The narrator was amazing!
Overall a cute grumpy/sunshine romance with spice.

This paranormal rom com will have you alternating between giggles and fanning yourself! Nice amount of steam to get your heart pumping, but the witty banter and arguing will have you giggling, if not outright laughing! I found out after I had finished listening to this book that it is part of a series so I am headed to listen to book 1 right now! The narrator did such an amazing job of giving each character a unique personality that I feel like I have to listen to the entire series. I absolutely can't wait to listen to what happens with Olive in book 3! I do so hope we get more sarcastic wit and banter to go with the spice level of this book if not more! If you love a good paranormal then this one is sure to delight with witches, demons, angels, vamps and so much more!

(Kind of) enemies to lovers, then FWB to partners, featuring a grumpy half-demon animal lover and girly good-girl witch/pop culture lover. Who also loves animals, of course. And, hilariously, Hocus Pocus, boozy ice cream, and weighted blankets. So relatable! Runner up trope is "mates", when in reference to shifters and some of other supernaturals, and kind of with the idea of soulmates in general for everyone.
The whole FWB time is basically them coming to terms with the fact they just want an actual relationship with each other. It's cute at times, as they do couple-y stuff together, but then frustratingly still keeping the will-they/won't-they vibes. Warning that Damian also has those possessive tendencies (that I hate) that became the go-to in romance these last 20 years, but it's heavily sidelined and he's mostly non-toxic about it. Of course there's some turmoil regarding a soul curse, and it's all so fairy tale-esque it feels a littly goofy, but this is a cutesy story so it fit.
I appreciate the surprisingly amount of focus on animals and non-profits in general. Asher creates a world of supernaturals that is surprisingly and welcomingly woke as well. It's mostly tangents and lore-building, but given this is a series I think there's potential for a future LGBTQ+ protagonist/couple if that's something that interests you - because April Asher is a very enjoyable and easy-to-read writer
Following that, let me fully admit I never read the first in this series (lol - but it's been on my to-read since it came out!). I was slightly worried that would hinder my enjoyment of this book but Not Your Ex's Hexes can be read on its own just fine. The two books' protagonists are sisters and the first book's plot is briefly explained near the beginning (not all at once, of course - Asher is a better writer than that).
I don't read a lot of romance but sometimes they catch my eye, like this one did. I'm so glad this one wasn't a let-down - in fact, I plan on reading the first book soon, and following this series!
Not Your Ex's Hexes is a super cute, bubbly urban fantasy/modern romance.
If you like this series, I highly recommend checking out MaryJanice Davidson's Undead and Unwed series. The vibes align strongly!
