This book was great fun! I loved the magical elements, and how they’re written almost in a non-fantasy way…as if obviously witches flow with magic powers!! I like that it’s a fantasy novel without never-ending pages of backstory or world-building. I really enjoyed Rose as a character and watching her come into her own. Damian is struggling to keep a lid on his inner emotions and the two of them together was just *chef’s kiss.* I very much enjoyed the audio, I listened to it sped up a bit but the narrator did a good job of changing intonation for different characters. Highly recommend!

Really fun read! Super cute, great banter, and the spice was excellent. Rose was a very likeable character, with such a bubbly personality and excellent sense of humour. Damian was fantastic, with his super grumpy attitude and dry humour, but an outstandingly big heart.

Zura Johnson the narrator did an awesome job getting all the characters. The voice she had for Anna was raspy and so what I imagined she would sound like.

There are a lot of characters between the sisters and Zura was able to make them all distinctive so that I just knew who was who

The voice for Domaine was also perfectly what I had in my head,,...

I adore these witchy series. I read Vi's book and I was addicted to the whole thing. Rose has to rethink her whole life path as she is no longer the Prima but she can now explore. Rose has gotten herself into having to do community service with the local farm sanctuary.

This is where we meet Damian who is hexed and trying to control his inner demon

This story was fun, spicy and well-written. I devoured the book within a few days and I wish I had the third book in the series already.

I loved the world that's built with the norms, vampires and much much more

I can't wait for it to be released

“Not your exes hexes” is book Two of the “supernatural singles” series. I didn’t read the first one because I didn’t realize this was the second one , but I was ok! I wasn’t lost at all.. I definitely plan on reading the first one even though I now know how the first one ended lol :.

This series has Family relationships, animals, witches, angels, Magic and romance. Damian, A grumpy half Demon Veterinarian, meets his sunshine sassy match in Rose. The tensions and banter kept me going the whole time.

I listening on audio and I loved the narration!

This was a very fun rom-com and I recommend it to all!! Thank you to NetGalley for giving me the chance to read and review this book. I have now found another author to auto purchase books from!

OH my gosh is all I have to say about this book!! I am the biggest fan of all things witchy and rom coms!! This was so cheeky choppy in the best way. It was funny and kept my interest. It was a super fast pace read. It was super cute, and fun read. If you are a lover of witchy books then read this series!!! I absolutely loved it.

The audio book was my favorite over just reading the book. The voice over really helped engage me in this reading.

Perfect for spooky season, super natural romance.

This book was fun to listen to and would be perfect for spooky season, but works all year long. I loved the romance, but I also love the family dynamics and the fantasy element. It hit close to my heart because I love animals and this starts with a rescue mission for some mistreated horses. The main character was also a triplet and, as a mom of multiples myself, I love reading about sisters interacting.

The narrator was great and seamlessly did the voices of both the super natural and the more fantastical characters.

I would recommend this book. It was fun and light and worth the read.

✨Not Your Ex’s Hexes ✨

Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️/5 (3 Stars)
Steam 🌶🌶🌶/5 (2-3 scenes with description)

Narration: I read this as an audiobook, the narrator did an excellent job of keeping me interested, and voicing various characters.

No Spoiler Review 👇🏻

This was a decent speculative/paranormal romance read. The first book in this series was an okay read, and it’s how I felt about this book too. It’s not bad, and I liked some things, but I think it could have been better.

This book follows Rose Maxwell, one of the Maxwell Triplets. She’s a witch. After a horse rescue goes wrong, she must serve community service at an animal sanctuary. However, in this sanctuary the vet is a half demon named Damien. He’s grumpy and edgy…and the guy Rose had a one night stand with. Some classic romcom interactions occur.

Things I enjoyed:
Set at an animal sanctuary! The grumpy sunshine relationship. Some moments that gave me the swoony feels. Their cute nicknames and banter between the MCs. The paranormal aspects of this romance gave it some fun moments.

Now for the reason for 3 stars. I found the plot lacking a bit, and some moments of boredom throughout. One of the main points is the Hex on Damien. (Hence even the title), yet it’s not explained all that well and the ending around it was rushed for my taste. The romance was good but felt sometimes a bit rushed. I would have liked it to develop a little bit more.

Overall it was a light witchy romcom with some fun moments and steam.

Thanks to NetGalley and Dreamscape Media for the audiobook in exchange for my honest review.

April Asher's Supernatural Singles series follows witch triplets Violet, Rose, and Olive as they navigate a world populated by witches, demons, and warlocks. Along the way, they find themselves and true love.

In Not Your Ex's Hexes, the second book in the series, Rose finds herself in close proximity to a man with whom she shared one night of passion. He also happens to have relocated to her town, is the owner of the horse the triplets just attempted to steal, and is a daemon. What could go wrong?

While each book can be read independently, I think this particular series should be read in order. When I first picked up Ex's Hexes, I had not read Not the Witch You Wed (book one) and felt lost. So I went back and read Not the Witch You Wed. I found it beneficial.

I don't particularly care for Asher's writing. I find it lazy, the dialogue cringy, and the steamy scenes (open door, but not super detailed or drawn out) do nothing to get me through the lackluster plot. I did enjoy the animal plotline in this one, and honestly, it saved the book for me.

At this point, I can safely say that April Asher is not for me. Which doesn't mean she isn't for you. I can see tons of people adoring this, and I did like this one significantly more than Not the Witch You Wed. If you love grumpy x sunshine, supernatural romances, romantic comedies, and sister-centered plots, you may enjoy this book Especially, if you enjoyed Not the Witch You Wed.

I listened to the audio and read along with the book. I didn't love the narrator, but she was better than others I have endured.

Thank you to NetGalley, Dreamscape Media, St. Martin's Press, and the author for an advanced copy of this book and audio in exchange for an honest review.

I'll say it. I really did try with this one but the audiobook narrator wasn't for me.

Thank you so much netgalley for the audiobook version of this book.

Thanks to Netgalley for giving me the audiobook in exchange for an honest review.

Sadly, this book was not for me. I felt disconnected to the characters, which was probably because of the writing. I have never read a romance written in 3rd person narrator, and I have to say it is not doing it for me.

The plot was all over the place, too. There is a prologue one-night-stand and the way the characters are getting back together is just pure nonsense in my opinion. I was summarising the happenings to a friend and then realised how wild and nonsensical it was.

I did like the narrator and narration in general but I just could not get a grip on the story.

The second book in Asher's "Supernatural Singles" series (that's a tongue twister) follows Maxwell sister Rose as she lands after her slight fall from grace. The end of "Not the Witch You Wed" left us with a new Prima and Rose out of both the job and an engagement. One of those things was a good thing (ditching Pepe la P U) and the other left her floundering after years of preparation to follow in her grandmother's footsteps. In walks in sexy half demon Damian Adams. What could a little fun hurt? well as it turns out, a lot. "Not Your Ex's Hexes" follows the 2 as they figure out what life looks like when a title and a curse have dictated your life for the last 10+ years.

Not Your Ex's Hexes is a fun supernatural romance full of interesting characters. Rose is trying to find her place in the world after stepping down for her Prima witch training. She impulsively decides to rescue some horses who look abused only to find out they were already under the care of a super hot vet named Damian. She also realized it's same half-demon from a long so long ago one night stand. Rose is sentenced to community service and forced to work beside Damian. Sparks fly as these two have to learn to work together to save the animal sanctuary. I thought this was a fun, easy book to read! It's slightly cheesy but still fun and steamy!

I really enjoyed the first book in this series, so when I was approved for the Not Your Ex’s Hexes audiobook through NetGalley I was excited to jump into it! Unfortunately, I was really let down by this book. The beginning of the story was a questionable start. Did I miss why the sisters were trying to rescue the horses from a sanctuary? They clearly did not give much thought to their plan before breaking the law, and it seemed like this was done purely for plot convenience as a lame way to set up the MCs to work together throughout the story. I was also confused why the MCs started off strongly disliking each other. ⠀

I didn’t much care for either of the MCs. They were both willfully oblivious and in denial. Rose gets a special award for being one of the most annoying characters I’ve ever read about. She was an idiot determined to prove herself, but couldn’t she discover herself AND have some common sense at the same time? She was so ignorant about and gung ho on becoming a bounty hunter. Her obstinate determination not to listen to reason was extremely irritating, but some of the plot relied on her lack of critical thinking skills. Rose spent the entire book trying to find her calling and she’s out there somewhere still searching for it. ⠀

I couldn’t really enjoy the spicy scenes or their banter because much of the dialogue was juvenile, corny, and awkward. The MCs were in their 30s, but if that hadn’t been stated multiple times I would have never known. The hex ended up being an excuse for the classic 3rd act break up trope and the resolution for it was simple and dumb. This story was also far too long. I almost DNF’d at several points from boredom, my impatience with Rose, and the general lack of maturity. I think giving this book 2 stars is generous. ⠀

I may be convinced to try the third book whenever it comes out, but I’m concerned I’ll like it even less after the final triplet/sister showed just how stubborn against her own best self interest she is as just a side character in this book. It doesn’t give me confidence in her as a MC.

This book had such a fun concept! Bounty hunting, strong family ties, and a grumpy x sunshine pairing will make it to the top of my TBR pile every single time.

Damien is a grumpy veterinarian with a secret heart of gold. Rose is a sassy witch who has lost her position she planned her life for and is looking to find her new vocation. I love this combination! It made for super fun banter between the characters and an easy read. However, while I enjoyed the banter, I think it was sometimes misplaced in moments of intensity and suspense when the characters are in potential peril.

I thoroughly enjoyed the narration of this book as well! I think she did a great job of distinguishing characters from one another so the story was easily followed.

While I really enjoyed the concept and many of the characters of the book, I found that some of the
plot twists were somewhat easy to figure out and there was more spice than I was originally expecting.

Thank you to NetGalley for providing me with this book in an exchange for an honest review.

This was a DNF for me. Here is why:
-There was many different character types, a lot for my brain to keep up with for whom was what.
-My first ‘fantasy’ type read - I don’t think that is the style for me
- The main characters, the sisters, acted much younger than their age was written- i turnt care for that.

Thank you to the publisher, and net galley for the arc.

Damian and Rose's romance was fire. They had such strong chemistry and could not get enough of each other. I did have a hard time keeping up with some of the side stories, but I loved how he wanted to defend and protect her even with the hex that his ex-girlfriend put on him. I liked that the setting was in NYC so it was relatable even with the witch and demon aspect.

I adored Not the Witch You Wed and couldn’t wait to get my hands on the second in the series. Asher has done it again with a fun, hilarious, super steamy, witchy romcom!

I read a lot of romcoms in general, and witchy ones specifically. And, IMHO, Asher’s are the best out there. They have great characters with amazing chemistry.

And this one had an animal sanctuary, demon hunting and puppies! Does it get much better than that?

In particular, I love that in Rose’s quest to find what she’s good at, she always keeps her fire, determination, and spunk. No one, not even a half-demon, puts baby in a corner.

The audio narration of Not Your Ex's Hexes was fantastic. The voice changes for different characters were spot on and pulled me completely into the story. Excellent pacing and clarity.

In the sequel to 'Not the Witch You Wed', we follow Rose's story. Rose was previously the prima apparent but now that she's no longer in the running for the role she is trying to find her path. She decides to break into an animal sanctuary thinking that the horses there are being tortured and not rehabilitated. She ends up getting caught and has to go to a witch trail where she gets assigned community service. She is told she has to serve time at the animal sanctuary which is run by none other than Damian, the half-demon that she had a one-night stand with months ago. He also happens to be her cousin's husband's best friend so she was bound to run into him as some point but now she's forced to work with him. Rose eventually loves the work she is doing with the animals and for the sanctuary but forced into helping Damian with a hunting task she realizes that it might be her calling. Despite the danger this puts both of them in, Damian decides to help train her so that she is as best protected as possible. In all of this, Damian was hex by his ex because he didn't "do right by her" but in realizing that he's in love with Rose and admitting it to her, he breaks the hex and they are able to pursue their relationship without him losing his soul. It was a fun listen and I really enjoyed it.

When I was presented with the opportunity for an advanced copy of this book, I jumped at the chance - everything about it calls to me. I also didn't twig that this was the second in a series of books that I already had on my tbr - so bonus for me!

Brief synopsis, Rose and Damian have a one-night-stand when Rose is trying on a less "good girl" persona, with both having a 'no repeats' rule and thinking they wouldn't really run into each other much again. They're then thrown together when Rose is made to work community hours at Damian's clinic, for attempted horse-napping no less, that the sparks begin to fly.

This is a great mixture of normal "relationship" drama and magic drama. Even the chapter titles are super cute and on-point (with each one relating to a line from the chapter). My favourite was "Buffy Banter", as I was a massive fan of the show when younger; it was my inner geek letting out a little squeak of joy during this chapter!

This is SOOOOO my kind of book! I loved the story, I loved the characters and I loved the fiesty attitudes on display! I will be rectifying my mistake of having NOT already devoured book 1, and am now joining the, what I am sure will be massive, wait list for book 3. If you like HEA, romances, witch stories, cute stories with a litttttttle bit of spice - this is 100% the book for you!

Am I in my witch romance reading era? I might be in my witch romance reading ear. I love this series so much they are just so much fun!

See, I knew this book was about Rose but I had no clue who the MMC was but I can tell you I was not disappointed! We love our selves a good half demon bad boy with a love for animals, I mean who doesn't?

If you are looking for a really cute, really fun read to add to your book count, this one would be one to add to your tbr list (but read book one first! I love that one as well!) I really should have read this around spooky season it probably would have hit better and might have even been a 5 star read but honestly it was good for what it was.

On the audiobook front, I would have prefered it to be dual narration but honestly this audiobook narrator kills it every time!

Big thank you to Dreamscape publishing and NetGalley for the Advanced Audiobook in exchange for my honest opinion!
