Excellent story! If you are a fan of witchy romances this is the audiobook for you! This is the second book in the story and while you don't have to read book 1, I would recommend it as there are references to the couple in that book.
Rose is the 2nd born of the magical witchy Maxwell trio. She runs into a sexy man and has a one-night stand
in the beginning of the story. Months later we see rose trying to save 2 emaciated horses with the help of her sisters and a friend, only to be caught by the police.
Across town three friends hang out Luke the Husband of the eldest Maxwell sister Violet and a few friends including Damian. He goes with Luke to bail the girls out of jail. Only to find out that the Horses they tried to rescue are the horses he rescued! He's a veterinarian and helps run an animal sanctuary.
The girls all get community service and Rose needs to serve it working with the very animals she tried to rescue and Luke... Her one night stand who she hasn't been able to get out of her mind.
I love how strong of a character the Maxwell sisters are and Rose is no exception. She will not let anyone stand in her way and will not take no for an answer. Luke is stubborn and broody, but you can tell he has a soft side. If you want a great story with a strong female lead and a broody man. This is the story you can't miss and won't want to put down.

While I didn't enjoy this one as much as Book 1, I did still like Rose and Damian's story! These two definitely had great chemistry and some fun banter, I just felt the plot of this one was not as strong for me? I also enjoyed having the Maxwell sisters all together - they have such a great dynamic. I wanted a little more out of Rose's character development. Regardless, definitely a light and fun witchy read.

Thank you to NETGALLEY, st mattina presa and dreamscape recordings for this audio recording of Not your ex’s Hexes
The voice was very pleasant and I was interested in listening to this audiobook. This is the second book in the supernatural singles series and it did not disappoint you don’t need to read book 1 to understand this book but it helps none the less. All in all a pleasant experience listening to this audiobook.

the cover?: these covers are so cute, can't wait to see the rest of the series 😍
the FMC: Rose- 🧹 this book follows Rose while she tries to find her place and what she's good at since stepping down as the Prima Apparent in book 1. she tries some odd jobs, learns from her failures, and grows in the duration of this book- especially since book 1!
the MMC: Damian- 😈 this book dually follows Damian as his friends-with-benefits, no-strings-attached relationship leads him off the path he expected to be on. Damian has great character growth and is an absolutely swoon worthy grumpy vet with a heart of gold when it comes to all his animal rescues. he gives off the most beautiful "touch her and 💀" vibes and 😘👌
POV: 3rd person dual perspective
HEA: yes!
spice: spicy/steamy- on par with the other book in the series. there are several open door spicy scenes and plenty of pining, kisses, innuendos throughout
TWs: mentions of past mental manipulation, slight gore, animal rescue- don't worry no animals die during this book! overall, this book is pretty clean in terms of trigger worthy content
standalone?: while this is book 2 of the Supernatural Single series i think this could be read as a standalone, however the world building that starts in book 1 is amazing and book 2 picks right up without explaining the characters connections and the locations they visit
editing to add that i listened to the audiobook and it was great. i always wish for a dual reader for a dual perspective but she was great!
i'm loving this series so much and i can't wait for the series to continue! April Asher

Circle your coven and prepare for the lusty antics of Rose and Damian.
What's fun about these two is that they know each other somewhat casually when the novel starts, and they are both fairly committed to NOT being committed, so it's even more rewarding as they start to spend more time together and prove what readers expect; there's more to this relationship than a fun night or two.
Strangely, the highlight of this book for me is all of the puppies. I truly can't say enough about them. Not quite the point of a romance, but they did keep me reading.
While I felt much more invested in what happened to the characters in the first book of this series, I'll admit that I still enjoyed this read. I'm hopeful that the next book gives me more on the character front, but I'll look forward to it either way.

I really enjoyed reading story's about witches, there's so much fun yo have worth the storyline and this books sums up that perfectly.
Beautifully written by the author and told so brilliantly by the narrator.

This was such an adorable book! I’m so happy I got a chance to read it! Rose and Damian were just great together. The banter, the longing, the team ups. April Asher is on my watch list now!
It was amazing that she built this world within our world. The supernatural are among us and everyone knows. Two beings decide they don’t want to repeat their one night stand. But when they’re forced to work together after Rose has some trouble with the law, the tension rises.
I didn’t have any issues with the narrator, she was very good.

I love witchy rom-coms. They make my heart happy. This installment in this series was no exception.
I found myself drawn in with book one and these Maxwell sisters antics. With book one ending with Rose no longer being the Prima Apparent, this one starts off with Rose trying to find her way - and in true Maxwell sister fashion, she finds herself in all kinds of trouble. Mainly - a certain sexy veterinarian she’s stuck doing community service for.
In true rom-com fashion this book is crazy predictable. You know where it’s going immediately but the road to get there is hilarious and worth the ride. I definitely enjoyed it.
I want to thank NetGalley for the audiobook!

Not the Witch You Wed was one of my favorite reads of 2022 so I was so excited to get this ARC and while I liked it, I think it missed some of the chemistry and spark of its predecessor. There was a lot going on so the romance felt a bit tacked on and they didn't have as much foundation to their relationship

Earlier this year I read Asher's first novel, 'Not the Witch You Wed,' and though some of the dialogue was a little quirky, I really enjoyed it.
I felt the same about 'Not Your Ex's Hexes!' I loved getting to see this new side of Rose, as we only got to see her as prior Prima Apparent in the first book. This book even made me actually end up loving both Violet and Linc more! I enjoyed Damian, but occasionally the brooding/grumpiness got a bit old.
I CANNOT wait for Olive and Bax's story, as this one had a lot of build up for the next installment as well.

I HATE when a main character breaks up with the other one because they decide their partner 'deserves better.' I HATE that trope. So that aspect bugged me a bit, but luckily its short lived!

Not Your Ex's Hexes charmed me!
I really enjoyed the first book last year so I couldn't wait to get my hands on the second one. It didn't disappoint either.
I loved Rose! She was confidant and empowering herself, and I found that to be inspiring. She was definitely relatable and a lot of fun to read about. Damian is the grumpy half-demon of reader's dreams. Their dynamic and banter made the book for me. I couldn't stop smiling during their interactions.
This is friends with benefits so the steam is there. And I will say I think this one is steamier than Not The Witch You Wed. The angst also added to the steam.
I preferred to read this book as an audiobook since I read the first one that way and really enjoyed it. I can report that this audiobook was just as enjoyable as the first one. I really liked the narrators and felt immersed in the story.
A perfectly charming paranormal romcom!
For readers who enjoy: romcoms, comedy, friends with benefits, friends to lovers, grumpy x sunshine trope, paranormal/urban fantasy romance, witches, family drama, and curvy/plus size heroine rep.

I had already read this book when I requested the audio book, but I knew it was the same narrator of the first book and her narration was so good that I would absolutely want to listen to this again, even after reading it.
This book was so good. I loved the chemistry between Rose and Damian. I also really enjoyed the fact that a really big part of this story was about Rose finding out who she wanted to be after dumping her fiancé and stepping down as the prima apparent.
I loved the relationship she has with her sisters and Harper. This book also gives a little peek into Olly and Bax and how their story may play out (ROOMMATES!!)
I was super intrigued by Damian’s brother Julius and I really hope we get to see more of him. Even though he made mistakes he spends the majority of the book trying to reconnect with Damian and makeup for the past and I really liked him in the end. I hope he gets a book because I love a villain redemption story.
The prologue to this book picks up right where the epilogue for Not The Witch You Wed ends so be sure to read that book first!
Thank you to the author and the publisher for providing me with a copy of this ARC!
My one issue was that I really wanted to know more about Damian’s mom and how Damian met Miguel.

✨Bringing hexy back✨
**I think there are pretty minor spoilers throughout the review so take caution!**
I enjoyed this one a lot! Witchy romances are hit and miss for me, but this one did pretty much everything I’d want out of a good one! I liked the main characters, there was a bit of a twist, and I liked the writing style. It wasn’t overly quirky or campy, at least to my tastes. Ever since Schitt’s Creek I’ve had a THING for sexy veterinarians. And since my epic Kresley Cole saga of 2022, I’ve had a THING for demons. 👀
As for the steam, there were a variety of open door sex scenes. They weren’t wacky enough to stick in my mind, but I enjoyed them as a whole. They start banging pretty early because they’d had a one-night stand a year prior and there wasn’t much animosity left after a few chapters.
✨
I think the whole bounty hunter thing was just very random and didn’t make much sense. It kinda just made Rose seem immature because she really didn’t prove to me that she was right for the job?? She just seemed rather childish for her age. And the bounty hunter overshadowed the hot vet and animal content!!
I was also kinda confused about the parameters of her magical abilities. Maybe reading book one would clear some things up. I just think she coulda done a bit more hexing lol. Part of it’s on me for reading book two in a series but I do think it could’ve done more to explain the magic, since it did give me a good sense of book one’s plot.
✨
While there were some cringey word choices and a slowish ending, I did overall enjoy the story. I’m super excited for book three because it’s a roommance and he’s a sexually skilled angel??? Literally he’s an ANGEL. And he called HER angel?? Yeah I’m sold.
As an audiobook, I really liked the narrator! She had a great range of voices and I did love her guy one. It was single POV and narration (which is maybe why I liked it so much).

I love it when a book starts with a (literal) bang!! This was a great second book in the Supernatural singles paranormal romance series! I loved the forced proximity, opposites attract, fat FMC romance! I'm especially loving the trend of influencer love stories and this one was excellent. Plus the no strings attached F*ck buddy arrangement (FBA) gave me all the feels as the MCs tried to resist their innate attraction. Great on audio too. Much thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for an early audio copy in exchange for my honest review!!
