Don't Let Her Stay by Nicola Sanders grabbed my attention right from the start, and the audiobook version made it even more intense. The story weaves a compelling psychological thriller, and the narrator's voice adds a chilling layer to the unfolding drama. Each character's emotion and suspicion is brought to life in a way that keeps you constantly engaged.
The pacing of the narration was spot on, enhancing the suspense as the plot thickened. I found myself fully immersed in the story, especially during those tense moments when you’re left questioning who to trust. The twists kept coming, and the narrator’s ability to build tension made every reveal that much more powerful.
What stood out to me was the way Sanders expertly crafted a sense of foreboding, and the narrator amplified that mood perfectly. It’s a gripping listen from start to finish, with both the writing and narration working together to create a captivating experience.
If you’re looking for a thriller that will keep you hooked, Don't Let Her Stay is a fantastic choice. The audiobook was an unforgettable ride, and I loved every second of it.
Such a crazy book! I was hooked from the start and it kept my attention the entire time. I would absolutely recommend this to anyone who likes thriller books.
Stay at home mom Joanne is finally feeling like she's got things under control, with a new job working remotely for her former employer and a perfect nanny lined up to help her our a couuple of days a week. Then her adult stepdaughter moves in without warning, insisting that she'll take care of the baby. This starts out like a run of the mill domestic thriller, but the last half of the book is a wild ride that will keep you wondering who and what to trust.
This was such a wild read! I really enjoyed the audiobook of it. It kept me guessing until the end, which is a must for me to enjoy thrillers.
Twisty and page-turning! Very fast paced and well-narrated. Great for fans of psychological suspense.
4.5 This was such a fun page turning thriller that I just couldn’t put down! This book follows Joanne a woman who recently had a baby and stopped working to take care of the baby. Once she was ready to go back Joanne planned to hire a nanny but her husband’s daughter Chloe who she never met decided to move in with them and would love to take care of the baby. We follow Joanne as she tries to navigate this rocky relationship with her step daughter and when things start happening she’s not sure who to believe or if it’s really happening at all.
I love these kind of fun twisty over the top thrillers . There were some points where you definitely had to suspend your belief, yet I had so much fun with it I didn’t even care. I would say my biggest complaint with this book was that some of the characters felt a little flat. That being said though I am really looking forward to picking up more from this author in the future. I also listened to the audiobook for this one and really enjoyed the narrator. I would like to thank NetGalley and the publishers for a chance to read this book for an honest review.
This is the first book I listen from this author, and to be honest I had mixed feelings about it. The narration didn’t help much and the voice of the stepdaughter almost made me want to give up. But the story was exciting and and I wanted to know what was going to happen. Unfortunately the end was predictable.
Don't Let Her Stay is a fast paced psychological thriller! I really enjoyed the narrator Penelope Rawlins. I found this to be a quick listen because you can't stop. You will be drawn in quickly. Now there are many moments you are gonna want to scream at Joanne and Chloe. They are very challenging characters. There are a few twists that I didn't see coming. I thought I knew for sure what was going on and OH was I wrong. I HIGHLY recommend giving this a listen.
Thank you NetGalley and Dreamscape Media for allowing me to listen to this ARC for my honest opinion.
Thank you Netgalley and Dreamscape Media for a copy of Don't Let her Stay by Nicola Sanders.
Don't Let Her Stay by Nicola Sanders is a riveting psychological thriller that delves into the complexities of family dynamics. Joanne's noble intentions of fostering a bond between her step-daughter and their growing family take a dark turn as she begins to suspect hidden motives lurking beneath the surface. This book is definitely a binge in one sitting type of thriller. The amount of twists and turns will have you reeling at the end!
An enjoyable, twisty domestic thriller. I wasn't sure what to think at first and whom to suspect. The main character is a bit dense and trusting, but if she wasn't, then she wouldn't be the main character of a domestic thriller, now would she?
After a bit I decided I knew what to expect and so I wasn't surprised by the ending. But I still couldn't wait to watch everything play out.
I declare, aside from the is-she-evil-or-is-she-a-victim question surrounding the stepdaughter, she was consistently annoying. And without spoiling anything, I will say that the fate of a certain character does not bother me in the least because of their complete failure to act in a reasonable manner. Serves them right.
The audio book was done well aside from the occasional caterwauling and it kept me riveted to the story.
I received my copy from NetGalley.
I absolutely love unreliable characters and holy moly is this one chalk full of them! I was absolutely enthralled with this book. I couldn’t stop listening and was hanging on every word. Also, the ending….just wow. I got goosebumps with the final sentence.
3.5 ⭐
As always, I am going to mention that what I'm looking for in thrillers is fun and drama and excitement, not necessarily a hundred percent believability. So if little gaps in the plot generally bother you, you may want to take my thriller reviews with a grain of salt.
The book starts almost idyllically - our protagonist is a new mom leaving in a gorgeous house in the English countryside. Her husband has an estranged relationship with his first daughter, but there’s an opportunity to set everything right and for them all to become a nice little family.
Enter one of the scariest situations imaginable - the daughter is not what she seems and the wife now can’t get her out of the house. Even if she feels her own or her baby's life might be threatened. There's nothing quite so frustrating as when you know you won't be trusted.
The whole situation was a bit anxiety-inducing. We are dealing with a manipulator, and not a very subtle one. You can see some of her traps from miles away. Waiting for things to go down was a bit nerve wreaking at times.
Of course, as with every thriller, there are twists and turns the story takes the further we progress. I didn’t get everything I was hoping for (I had my own idea of how everything might play out and I liked it more than what actually happened). But the ending still felt satisfying in a way.
I listened to Don't Let Her Stay as an audiobook and I thought it was a perfect way to consume this story.
A huge thank you to Dreamscape Media and NetGalley for providing me with an audio ARC of Don't Let Her Stay by Nicola Sanders in exchange for an honest review.
Nicola Sanders is a new author to me but I am so glad I picked this up.
This was an intense read, I was sitting on the edge of my seat throughout, and the twist and double twist, WOW. I was hooked!
Absolutely brilliant, one of the best I have read this year!
This book had me hooked from the beginning. This story was so twisty that I didn't know who or what to believe. There is so much manipulation, gaslighting and suspense that I was on the edge of my seat trying to figure out what was really happening. Bravo to Nicola Sanders for writing a great book.
Don’t Let her stay was overall a great thriller with keep you guessing twists in the storyline. I loved the narrator which is very important. Thank you #NetGalley for the opportunity to listen to this #Arc in exchange for an honest review
Thank you to NetGalley and Dreamscape Media for an audio ARC in exchange for an honest review.
The whole story is told from Joanne's perspective and there are some twisty surprises leaving questions as to who to trust and who do you believe. I heard amazing reviews from most of the readers group about the twists which kept me thinking about it . I kept thinking I knew the twist, until I didn't.
Overall it was an enjoyable read and I look forward to reading more novels from Sanders.
I had the audio version read by Penelope Rawlins who was very engaging and enjoyable to listen to.
Joanne, a new mother, feels a little lonely and bored in their new house in the country. But all this changes when her husband's estranged daughter comes to stay and offers/demands to watch the baby instead of the nanny Joanne has just hired. The question is, who has been deceiving her, her husband or his daughter. Soon, all Joanne wants is to get away from it all and keep her baby safe. A good plot with lots of twists. Well narrated.
Thank you to NetGalley and Dreamscape Media for an audio ARC in exchange for an honest review.
Joanne has been struggling with her new role as mother. She loves Evie but is feeling isolated from her husband and friends and missing her career. When her husband's 21 year old daughter, Chloe, finally comes for a visit, Joanne thinks this will be a wonderful addition to their small family. Chloe is not the sweet innocent step-daughter Joanne was hoping for, instead she is manipulative and mean to Joanne and could she possibly hurt baby Evie? Chloe has had a rough past, her own mother mysteriously died and she was sent off to boarding school. Chloe begins to manipulate her father into thinking Joanne is losing her mind. Joanne wants her gone but Chloe is doing everything she can to stay? One way or another someone is not going to make it out of this situation alive.
This was a great domestic thriller filled with emotional drama and twisty surprises leaving questions as to who to trust and who do you believe. The story is told from Joanne's perspective which is not always a reliable narrator but works because it adds to the suspicion of all the characters, herself included. It was one of those novels where as I was reading I thought I knew the twist, then I didn't, then I did and then I didn't. Overall it was an enjoyable read and I look forward to reading more novels from Sanders.
I had the audio version read by Penelope Rawlins who was very engaging and enjoyable to listen to. Her Chloe voice was a little grating and did change as the novel went on but overall I would listen to more of her narrations.
Thank you to #netgalley for this #arc
Joanne is leading a pretty charmed life, that is until her step daughter Chloe appears.
She starts to feel like she is being gas lighted, and isn't sure if Chloe is there to help or hurt.
The plot has a few holes in it for me that didn't come together, but overall I would still recommend the book to anyone who is a fan of thrillers.
Love the narrator. The story kept me edge of my seat. I couldn’t stop listening as I wanted to know what happens next. One character was annoying at times but kept the story going. Twists for sure and the ending was WOW.
