Enjoyed!

I hadn't read the prior books in this series, but I really didn't feel confused or unfamiliar with the characters, the author did a great job getting the backstories in without being overbearing about it. I loved Bryce and Ryker's story!

Both Bryce and Ryker are dealing with...a lot. Bryce became an instant Mom to her 3 nieces after her brother and his wife suddenly passed away. Ryker is dealing with PTSD from his Marine service. With a lot of help from his family and their friends, will these two be able to get through all this and come out the other side better?

This book was just sweet enough, just s*xy enough and a lot of laughs. Enjoy!

Thanks to the author, publisher and NetGalley for the opportunity to read and review this book, but my opinions are my own.

Thank you to @ReadForeverPub and @NetGalley for this ARC!

This story definitely gives me a little bit of the vibes of the film No Reservations. This book includes both the found family trope and the miscommunication trope, which the plot relied heavily on.
What I like most about this book was how, despite a lot of emotional baggage, Bryce and Ryker meet each other head on, and don’t shy away from each other‘s insecurities. Because of this, their relationship felt really well fleshed out and I really enjoyed getting to see them grow as a couple.
Overall, this book is super charming. While there are some heavier moments ie Ryker dealing with PTSD and Bryce handling the death of her brother, there’s enough humor and heart sprinkled in to make this a really warm and fuzzy rom-com.

I loved this book from start to finish!

After an unfortunate accident, Bryce becomes guardian for her three nieces. She moves to care for them, and is trying to figure out her new life as a “mom.”

A super sweet meet-cute in the grocery store brings her together with Ryker, a Marine vet. He’s also adjusting to his new life, post-war and with a leg amputation.

This is a story of finding your way when life changes your plan, and finding a person who supports that. While their lifestyles and situations are completely different, they both had a drastic and unexpected alteration to their life course.

Another thing I loved in this book was the normalization of mental health and therapy.

While this is the 3rd book in a series about the Matthews brothers, it can definitely be read as a standalone (I haven’t read the first two and didn’t feel like anything was missing).

What you’ll find in Change of Plans:
⭐️ Single “mom” (guardian)
⭐️ Chef & mechanic
⭐️ Former military hero
⭐️ Disability rep
⭐️ Mental health rep (Grief & PTSD)
⭐️ 3 hilarious kiddos
⭐️ Found family
⭐️ Dual POV/3rd person

*tws: death of parents/sibling (off-page), PTSD, war, loss of limb

Thank you so much to NetGalley and Forever (Grand Central Publishing) for an advanced copy. All opinions are my own.

I adore this book! I think Ryker might be my favorite Matthews brother. And Bryce? She is such a strong female character with a dirty sense of humor that caught me off guard in the best way. These two don’t really need another thing added to their already overflowing plates, but they can’t ignore their connection. And the girls? June, Cecily, and Addison were amazing! The kids were such a huge part of this book and I’m glad they were such fleshed out characters with their own personalities.

I loved the amputee representation and how respectful & well done it was. Dylan clearly did her research with custody laws, veterans organizations, PTSD, and in the medical/prosthetics area. I could keep going on, but I’ll just say I recommend this book!

Thank you to NetGalley and Forever the advanced copy. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Thank you so much to Forever and Netgalley for providing an advanced copy of this! All thoughts and opinions are still my own.

I have really enjoyed the Matthews brothers books from Dylan Newton, however this one just wasn't for me. I think that there were some really important themes in here - particularly loss of a loved one, PTSD, disability, grief, and trauma. But in general, military romances are hard for me to connect and get on board with.

The heroine, Bryce, unexpected inherits custody of her 3 young nieces after the sudden loss of her brother. At the start of the book, she is struggling to hold everything together. The hero is trying to open up and step out of his shell while dealing with PTSD and the loss of his leg.

When the 2 meet at the grocery store, they're immediately drawn to each other. But the heroine thinks they're bonding over being single guardians. When in reality Ryker is only babysitting.

First of all. I'm going to leave this link to Jesse's video on Police and Military stories. They are so much more equipped and eloquent in their discussion over why romanticizing these groups is inherently problematic.

I really struggle to read romances featuring military MCs and it definitely held me back from getting on board with this romance.

But beyond that, I didn't find myself caring about either main character. This opening felt very info dumpy in my opinion. It was clear that the author did a TON of research for this book. Because there were so many inorganic discussions about mental and physical health. And it made me feel very aware of the fact that I was reading a story instead of part of one.

Lastly, it was clear that the main conflict of the book hinged on the miscommunication that Ryker was a guardian instead of an uncle. And I had no interest in reading 300 pages of misunderstanding that could have been fixed in 3 words...

Communication is sexy guys.

Overall, this one just wasn't for me. I think if you're a big contemporary fiction fan, this will 100% work for you. It has some great discussions and themes and it's definitely going to be a more hard hitting story.

While this one was a dnf, I am very curious to see where Dylan Newton goes next!

I am so sad to see this series end, but glad to say it went out on top 👏🏻🫶🏻

Absolutely loved getting to know Bryce & Ryker 🥰 and the great way the author was able to navigate tough topics 💗 I cannot imagine being thrown into the position Bryce was, but the emotions & chaos portrayed felt authentic. Ryker’s journey was another complex one that I felt was handled well. His challenges are real & watching him begin to work through them was great!

The representation throughout this book was awesome! Family dynamics, caregiver responsibilities, limb amputation, & PTSD 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 very well done!

The children also had my heart! Especially Addie 💗 she was in her own world a lot of the time, & I loved being a part of it! Both Bryce & Ryker were great with the kids & some of their scenes were downright hilarious 😂

What to expect:
✨small town
✨meet disaster 🙈
✨dual POV
✨amazing kids!
✨PTSD & limb amputation rep
✨interconnected series
✨”mom-like-creature”

Thank you so much @readforeverpub & @netgalley for the early copy 💖💖💖

Change of Plans by Dylan Newton
3rd in series although not named as such online. Contemporary romance / romantic comedy. Can be read as a stand-alone. Heroine = New guardian parent. Hero = Veteran with PTSD.
Bryce Weatherford has recently become the guardian of her three nieces. As a new and single parent, she is juggling their care while still working. She meets Ryker one night at the local grocery store where sparks fly. While dating is difficult for a single parent, as a group they manage both family entertainment together and a bit of alone time. Can they make a relationship work between his PTSD and her parenting needs and in-laws that are fighting for custody?

While I loved all the 3 books, this is my favorite. Happy stuff, making family work, a hero that needs a hug, a heroine that loves a baudy joke, children that have individual personalities, and a dog that can handle the lease. Touching and emotional, I cried in several parts over the last 15% of this adorably sweet and heartwarming romance.

Series, 3 brothers in a small town, each with their own story.
Book 1, How Sweet it is.
Book 2, All Fired Up.
Book 3, Change of Plans.

I received a copy of this from NetGalley. I will purchase this series in full to share. Opinions are my own.

I'm not usually a fan of kids in romance, but the poor girls that Bryce Weatherford inherits after her brother and his wife tragically passed away in an accident won me over from the very first chaotic introduction. Bryce is having a very difficult time dealing with a drastic change in her life when she goes from a successful chef and free single woman to a single mother of three kids under 13 who has no time to even consider herself. When Ryker comes in to save the day and wows all four Weatherford women, it's the sweetest meet cute. That Ryker Matthews has his own very dark battles he's fighting is an extra layer of emotional investment that just makes all the moments of light and fun they have together even better.
It amazes me how Newton wrote a story that is genuinely joyful when the motivating factors behind the characters being where they are death and PTSD. I loved how emphatically everything is touched upon and how well she handled the difficult topics and the many ways in which grief and its aftermath can present.
It's the third book in the series but I think it's perfectly alright to pick up this wonderfully romantic and healing book on its own to enjoy. Although the other books are also great and I totally recommend picking them up too if you haven't read them.

Very happy thanks to NetGalley and Forever for the wonderfully romantic read!

Epic. I loved this continuation of friends/family and this story. I’ve been desperately waiting for this MC’s storyline and get to know him better. Was eveything I wanted and such a great read. I’m so glad to end my summer vacation with this one.

Bryce Weatherford has taken guardianship of her three nieces and her life has been turned upside down. Addison who is five won't take off her fairy wings, Cecily who is eight doesn't seem to know what a bath is and June who is a tween is nothing but attitude and mouth. She is struggling to make a good home for the girls, make her new job work, and keep the girls grandparents from stealing them away.
Ryker Matthews lost his leg below the knee while fighting over seas. Now that he has returned to normal life he is doing his best to make his business his main focus. He's alive and knows just how lucky he is but he is also lonely.
When Bryce and Ryker meet in a grocery isle there is an instant attraction. Bryce is worried that her new life has no time in it for romance. Ryker worries about the nightmares he has and now they might effect a relationship. Follow along as these two dance around each other. Will they come together and let love take hold or will they let love pass them by.

What an amazing surprise Change Of Plans by Dylan Newton was. I have read a couple of her stories, so I grab anything of hers I see. I love this fun cover and the romance inside. There are some fun moments and lots of romance. The characters are addictive.

Imagine, if you will, the ringing of the phone. You answer and you are told your brother and his wife died and named you guardian of their three young children. Of course, the wicked grandparents think you are incapable of raising them and sue you for custody. As I read along, I thought, why didn’t she take a vacation and have the children stay with them. I think they may change their mind.

The children: five year old Addison, who refuses to take off her fairy wings. I can picture her, spinning around the room with a smile of innocence on her face. Then we have eight year old Cecily who won’t bathe. Once we found the reason why, it all made sense. Tween, June hates everything about life and is constantly in trouble, lippy and standoffish.

Bryce, their guardian, struggles to cope. I feel for her. Not only is she doing her best to take care of the children and find work in a new place, she is grieving for the loss of her brother. She has no family left. No support system. Her breathing exercises to calm herself in high stress are familiar to me. The garbage plate in Rochester, New York, been there done that. I love a book that has a taste of reality for me.

Ryker left the Marine corp because of the loss of his leg. He has PTSD and nightmares haunt him as her relives the worst day of his life. He avoids everyone, tinkering in his garage, where he restores vehicles. He rarely ventures out, but a visit to the grocery store changes his life forever.

Cecily had dropped her lucky rock under a grocery shelf and gets stuck.

“Let go of the change and the rock so I can pull you out, and I’ll give you a dollar.

“Two dollars,” bargained her niece, “and I get to pick out the cookies this week.

I was laughing out loud. I think I picked the perfect time for me to read Change Of Plans by Dylan Newton. I laughed and laughed. I cried and cried. I shared in Bryce’s lack of confidence in her new role, her grief. The writing is heavy and light at the same time and flows so smoothly, I reached the end before I was ready.

“I’ve been waiting to see him in his fairy wings. Only Aunt Beamer says the fairies don’t leave heaven ’cause the gates are locked. Have you ever seen a fairy, Mr Ryker:”

When Ryker found them in the grocery store, saved Cecily and played pirate with Addison, I found myself grinning like a fool, then her heartbreaking cuteness was like a punch in the gut. The tears flowed, so I will warn you to have a box of tissues handy.

The moment they met it changed both their lives. They slowly began to open up and think they could have the happiness everyone desires. Of course, we have a communication problem. Doesn’t that always happen in a romance story or real life? I thought she was too quick to do what she did, but I can understand her hurt. Other than that, I couldn’t find a single thing wrong with the book.

No matter what genre is your favorite, I can’t recommend a better book than Change Of Plans by Dylan Newton. to give you your emotional requirement of ups and downs, highs and low, bliss and despair, and…and…and…and…

Change of Plans Dylan Newton

Change of Plans centers around Bryce who has just gained custody of her nieces after a horrible accident. An odd meet cute occurs at the grocery store with Ryker Matthews who is a disabled veteran dealing with PTSD. Ryker is not a people person but he feels sparks with Bryce and her nieces. As they spend more time together, they grow closer and help each other discover how strong they really are.

I was eager to read Change of Plans which is the 3rd in the Matthews brothers series by Dylan Newton. I really enjoyed the other two. Change of Plans was wonderful and such a sweet story. Bryce and Ryker were a great team together. Bryce's nieces were an adorable addition. They all have their own part that they had to the story. Having just dealt with a big loss in their lives, it was nice to see Bryce and the girls deal with the pain that loss has brought. I do not have dealt with PTSD but I feel like it was handled very well in the book. Ryker was probably my favorite of the Matthews brothers.

Change of Plans was a great end to the series of books. You do not need to read all of them to follow along. This book is a great stand alone as are the other books.

Thank you to NetGalley, Forever Publishing, and Dylan Newton for the e-ARC of this book. This review is my own opinion.

✨ PRINCEMAN ARC REVIEW ✨

📝 Bryce Weatherford was climbing the ladder as a talented chef until her brother and sister-in-law died in a car accident. In an instant, she not only lost her brother but she also became the guardian to her three nieces. Raising these three girls is absolute chaos, but what doesn't help is the girl's grandparents fighting for custody. Enter Ryker. A former marine who had his leg amputated after his deployment in Afghanistan. He's suffering from PTSD, but for some reason, these Weatherford girls seem to bring him out of his shell. Maybe each other is exactly what they need in order to heal.

What I 🤍:
👧👧👧 Adorable Nieces
💪 Strong, Resilient FMC
🌀 PTSD/Anxiety Rep
💕 Found Family
🏔️ Character Driven Story

What I appreciated most about this book is how it's so much more than a romance. It's a character driven plot about the journey of Bryce and Ryker as individuals. Bryce on her journey of becoming a parent, while also maintaining her love for cooking, and Ryker on his journey of recovery. Together, they help one another heal, and deal with their new normal. To me, this felt very realistic. I can also tell Newton did a lot of research when writing this book.

Prince's Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️💫
Passion: 🔥🔥🔥 (One Open Door Scene)
Read If ➡️: You love emotional romances.
Read 📅: Easter Time, Spring
CW ⚠️: Death of Family Members (off-page), PTSD, Amputated Limb, Guardianship Disagreements

A few things didn't work for me. First, this book is marketed as a comedy. While the girls provided some comedic relief, the tone overall was heavy. To me, it was more of an emotional romance. I had ALL THE TEARS towards the end of the book, and I would describe this as an emotional read. Please consider the content warnings before reading this book. Additionally, while I understand Ryker was in the military, using military jargon during romantic moments gave me the ick.

Change of Plans is the third installment in the How Sweet it Is series. I would recommend reading this series in order because all the characters from previous books are in this one. You'll also get a glimpse into Ryker. If you're looking for an emotional read, this is for you!

Thank you to Forever Publishing, Dylan Newton and NetGalley for an ARC of this book.

Bryce and Ryker both have a lot going on in their lives. Bryce has recently been awarded custody of her 3 nieces after the death of her brother and his wife and Ryker is a soldier back from serving and learning to deal with a prosthetic leg and PTSD. Bryce had been working in New York as a chef until she moved to the little town where the girls live to care for them, which happens to be where Ryker lives. When their paths cross, sparks fly, but there’s always something keeping them apart, and it’s usually miscommunication, which is generally a trope that I don’t like! But in this case it kinda worked because it helped both of them have to work on their own feelings and themselves. When they finally do start dating, he ,eaves town without telling anyone! What?! Who does that? He ends up having a good reason and of course she forgives him instantly, but that drive me crazy. That’s my one big complaint with the story. Other than that, I enjoyed it. And I adored Ryker!!
Thanks to Forever Books and NetGalley for this eArc in exchange for my review.

I really wanted to love this book, but it felt very rushed for me. I enjoyed the banter between the main character's nieces and the mmc, but outside of that I wasn't really buying it. Overall, I thought this could have been less messy, but I was glad it had a happy ending.

If you like stories about strong men being wrapped around his girls (girlfriend/wife and daughters) then I think you'll like this one!

Change of Plans by comes out tomorrow - August 1st and it is such a wonderful book!
This is book three of the Matthews Brothers trilogy and this whole series is just wonderful. If you haven't read them yet, add them to the top of your TBR!
Bryce has moved to upstate NY to be the guardian of her three nieces after their parents died and it's not as smooth as she wishes. Ryker is working through PTSD from his time in the military and his prosthetic leg. Of course, the last thing either of them wants is a relationship but sparks fly between these two.

This book was sweet and I love seeing them both work through their issues and find each other for support. I love Dylan Newton's characters and this wonderful town!

So check out Change of Plans tomorrow!

Change of Plans was such a fantastic read. I would give it 6 stars if I could!

Dylan Newton was already one of my favorite authors after her first two books, but Ryker, Bryce, and Bryce's nieces were such wonderful characters to read about. Even though I am not in the same situation as Bryce - becoming guardian of her three nieces - I related so much to her experience and feelings as a parent of three girls of my own. She was truly just doing her best to care for and love them through it all, and it was difficult and hard but also beautiful and amazing. Her struggles and worries were realistic and emotional and beautifully written.

I loved Ryker, too, and he is definitely my favorite amongst the brothers. After reading about him in the two previous books I couldn't wait for his story. He had been through so much and was still struggling more than he let on. He had such a big heart and was so kind and loving with Bryce and her nieces. I loved seeing him connect with the girls as much as he did her. Also, his PTSD was handled with so much care and his journey was emotional.

This book was charming and funny, but also emotional and heart wrenching at times. The writing and storytelling are perfection, and I was hooked from the very first chapter. It is my favorite book I've read this year, and I can't recommend it enough!

This was a very cute read!

I liked the characters in this novel and found their struggles to be well-fleshed out. While the novel was about the main characters finding love, it was also about their own journeys.

Any series with siblings always has the "anticipated one", and for me it has been Ryker since the beginning. I have always loved a tortured hero and his reclusive and mysterious nature combined with his time in the service has always had me wondering what Dylan Newton would cook up for him in the romance department! Well, she did not disappoint! After, quite possibly, one of the most hilarious meet-cutes I have ever read, she gave him Bryce and her three nieces!. They are just the right combination of chaos to bring out the softy and fun in this tortured hero!

After a horrific accident leaves aspiring chef, Bryce, as the sole guardian of her three nieces, she must blindly traverse the world as a single parent. Struggling with even the basic tasks of shopping, Bryce finds herself in quite the pickle in the middle of the grocery store. However, she needn't worry because the town's resident hero has all the right training to help her out. Immediately smitten, these two can't help but be drawn together and while neither had plans for each other, plans change.

There was so much to like about this book! Beyond the adorable story line with just the right amount of heat, so many real aspects of life are dealt with in the perfect way. Ryker is a young veteran who was honorably discharged after being hit with an IED and his PTSD is documented in an authentic way. Whether it was the shame of the struggle, his amputation and prosthetic leg, or the mention of counseling or additional therapy services this subject was respectfully addressed and made Ryker so endearing. Bryce has to move from "fun aunt" to the mother figure of a grieving tween and her younger sisters, a difficult topic that was handled with both humor and realism. However, all of this only enhances the way Ryker and Bryce care for and love each other, building the sweetest relationship amidst big life's changes. This was the perfect end to this sweet and spicy series!
