I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own. Thank you NetGalley and Forever (Grand Central Publishing) for this advanced copy.
I adored the relationship between the two main characters, Bryce and Ryker. I respected the relationship Bryce had with her nieces, and it was hard to see what each of them went through (no spoilers) together as a family. The relationship between Ryker and Bryce’s nieces is ADORABLE!! He is the tough, military veteran, but he is SUCH a cinnamon roll!!! Each of these characters were so lovable, even in their most challenging moments.
I appreciated the disability and mental health representation in the story. I loved how each person handled “their stuff” in a healthy way (mostly), or at least learned how to throughout their character growth.
I adore Dylan Newton’s writing style, and I will read anything she writes!
A huge thank you to Forever Publishing and NetGalley for the advanced copy of this book!!

I started reading this book on the subway while traveling to an author event for another Forever book, All The Right Notes! It was the perfect way to spend my commute time because I knew I would love it before I even started, and I was absolutely correct. I really loved All Fired Up, yet somehow I missed How Sweet It Is, so luckily for me I still have one Matthews brother story left.

Ryker Matthews is the middle child in his family and seemingly the black sheep. It was so sweet getting to watch him slowly come out of his shell with Bryce and the girls over time, and finally allowing himself to need things from others openly. Bryce is in a tough situation herself, and this is not just found family, but also found community and life. Everything she knows has been upended and three grieving little girls have been thrust upon her. They might have had a pretty adorable meet-cute, but this couple needed to be building something solid if it was going to be worth the effort. Newton will be one of my go-to authors in the future for sure!
I absolutely loved this book. I was not expecting to get teary eyed, but this one really got me. I love an emotional read, and I like show the romance was secondary to the overall plot. Bryce and her nieces really tugged at my heartstrings.
This is my favorite in this series! I was SO excited for Ryker's story and loved learning more about him and what he's been through. He is so sweet to Bryce and she is an excellent lead and care taker as well.
Thank you Forever and NetGalley for the eARC of Change of Plans! All opinions in this review are my own.
I put off reading Change of Plans because I wasn't ready for the series to end and I've been anticipating Ryker's story from the first book. I'm so glad I waited because I truly picked the perfect time to read it.
On a weekend away (fittingly Veteran's Day), I finally read Change of Plans and it has easily become my favorite in the series. Part of this may be due to the magic of reading an amazing book in a place you're enjoying so much, but I could have enjoyed this book anywhere. After I finished each chapter, I had to tell my boyfriend how much I loved this book!
In true Newton fashion, Bryce and Ryker's story had me both laughing out loud and tearing up. Although their story is about them working to be together with individually complicated lives, Change of Plans is also about both of them learning how to love themselves. I truly appreciate the care that Newton put into making sure each of their situations were as researched and accurate as possible.
I thought it would be hard to write a match for Ryker but Newton easily knocks this one of the park. I want to reread the whole series again now and I can't wait to read her book!
Change of Plans by Dylan Newton is a heartwarming, sweet romance. From the first few surprising pages, I was taken with this novel. From its unexpected start to its solid romance development— I loved this book so much! Readers of romance will love this book. I think it is the perfect vacation or beach read. So fun! I received a digital copy of this book from the publisher with no obligations. These opinions are entirely my own.
so good. new single mom/aunt of 3 and a grumpy marine. I loved the found family part of this and the easter scene was hilarious.
This is the third book in the Matthews Brothers series and if I go on to read any of the other books, they will have some MAJOR competition. Ryker was an amazing character, full of flaws and issues, but he was so well-written--I fell in love! And he is so perfectly coupled with Bryce, who also has her share of baggage including single motherhood. The kiddo's are so well-written too. Overall, this was a great read and I need to follow up with the rest of the Matthews brothers in book 1 and 2!
I had the great privilege of doing a traveling arc for this amazing story. Even though I was late, it was worth the wait. From the meet-cute disaster to all the cooking to the sweet love story of these two. You will fall in love with Bryce and Ryker. There is just something about these Matthews brothers. I'm so sad that this is the last book in the series, and we won't be able to go back into this magical world. I love how much of the parenting world this showed and how Dylan kept us on the edge of our seats until the very end. I can't wait to see what is next for her and I can't wait to reread this one again.
Book 3 in the Matthews brothers trilogy and it did not disappoint! Just like any mother I cannot choose a favorite I love them all equally! It made me so happy to see Ryker finally at peace and find his HEA, plus I was thrilled to see the rest of the family revisit and see that everyone is still happy!
.
Bryce loved her job as a chef but when she unexpectedly had to quit her job and move to take on guardianship of her three nieces her world exploded.
.
Ryker knows he’s lucky to be alive but with his PTSD working overtime and his pain from his lost limb taking over his days he knows he needs a change.
.
I really rooted for these two! Spoiler alert they get the HEA they deserve! This one is out int the world today!

Found family tropes are one of my favourites. Although the circumstances for Bryce to have "found" this family is unfortunate. Her brother and his wife has died in a fatal car accident and as their godmother, she has been left in charge to be the guardians of three of her nieces: June, Cecily, and Addison. This book was chaotic and heartwarming at the same time. Especially when their "pirate/hero" found them in the grocery store. Ryker found them literally and metaphorically when he needed them in his life. And vice versa. Bryce, Ryker, and the kids needed each other. The representation of trauma and PTSD was written well and with a lot of care. It not only focused on Ryker's PTSD as a former marine, but also the psycholgical behaviour of the kids, and Bryce as well. The kids lost their parents but Bryce also lost her brother and sister in-law. It was a lovely read. I'll be reading the first two books before this!
Thank you NetGalley for an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
Change of Plans was an emotional, sweet read about found family and the impacts of trauma. I thought Dylan Newton did a really great job of conveying how trauma can be different for everyone and they way we react to it is so individual.
I loved Bryce and the girls. I can’t imagine what it would be like to be thrust into a caregiver situation while also still processing your own loss. Her character arc as Aunt Beamer-Mom was really beautiful to see. That said, it also made me frustrated. Parents make mistakes all the time and kids can get hurt in any number of accidents and it sucked for Bryce that she was under a microscope the entire time she was just figuring it out.
I thought Ryker’s journey was similar. I loved that he opened up to his family more throughout the book and was willing to seek treatment for his PTSD. The focus on not being able to have children felt like it had too much of a focus though. There are lots of ways to be a family!
My only dislike would be that the “cheating” confusion was unnecessary (there was already a lot going on) and that the clean wrap up for the ending felt rushed.
Overall, this was a great read that I’ll definitely recommend.
Thank you to NetGalley, Dylan Newton and Forever (Grand Central Publishing) for an advance copy. This is my honest review.
I really enjoyed this book, and it is definitely my favorite of Dylan Newton’s so far. Bryce and Ryker felt inevitable and were never forced. Their relationship was so well written in a genuine way - and the depictions of the girls was fantastic.
This was truly the sweetest!
It reminded me a lot of the movie "No Reservations" and I loved all of the aspects of this storyline. I thought the whole book felt like a warm hug and the grief throughout the story was extremely relatable.
I loved how specific each of the characters were, especially the nieces! They brought so much light to the book and they had me cracking up the entire time.
I'm someone who loves a book that balances joy with grief and I thought that Dylan did a fantastic job with that! I loved that Bryce and Ryker were able to help each other with their individual struggles without it seeming like Ryker is there to 'save' Bryce.
Overall a great read!
Thank you Netgalley, Forever Publishing, and Dylan Newton for this eARC in exchange for my honest review!
The book had a lot of good things. I liked the marine PTSD representation, and it was overall well written. It made me
Laugh and made my emotions run high. It was well balanced. I couldn't put my finger on what I didn't love but I felt like it may be a touch too spicy for me, at this time.
After the death of her brother and sister-in-law, Bryce becomes her three nieces' guardian. Bryce moves from a fancy chef position in Florida to a chef at a small-town restaurant/bakery as she takes on raising the girls. As they try to find a rhythm and cope with their grief, Bryce is also fighting a custody battle with the girls' maternal grandparents.
In a grocery store mishap, Bryce meets Ryker Matthews, a disabled veteran with PTSD who now spends his time restoring vintage cars and keeping to himself. However, as his life begins to fill with pink tutus, pirate ships and the easter bunny, he begins to feel like himself again, even smiling again.
A big theme in this book is grief, and as someone who was dealing with the loss of a sibling while reading this book, I think it does a good job of representing the everyday struggle of getting up and taking care of others. Throughout the book, I really admired Bryce's strength as she tried to stay above water and provide the girls with everything they needed.
I also enjoyed all the different ways Bryce and Ryker supported each other through the challenges they were facing. They just showed up for each other in any way they could.
I will admit the maternal grandparents drove me crazy, but luckily Ryker’s family was so supportive. The Matthews family in the two books from this standalone series - that I have read - have been just so kind and supportive.
Overall, I really liked the book. I always enjoy Dylan Newton’s books. If you liked the movie "Life as You Know It" or men whose giving love language is acts of service, you'll love Ryker.
Thank you to Dylan Newton, ForeverPub and Netgalley for this ARC in exchange for an honest review.
I was not able to finish the book and therefore do not feel that I can give an unbiased review about the book, its plot, characters, or the author's work. I might revisit this book at a later time and finish it then, but not right now.
After enjoying All Fired Up last year I was excited for Dylan Newtons next book and it did not disappoint. This is my favorite book of the series so far, though I still need to read the first one. Once I got into it I didn’t want to put it down. This book was heartful, frustrating, painful and funny. I thought the author wrote about grief, PTSD, and caregiving were very well done.
I loved seeing how Bryce’s relationship with her nieces evolved throughout the story and seeing Ryker bond with them. I loved how Ryker showed up for Bryce and the girls. This book is a fantastic representation of found family. Bryce’s growth throughout the story was well paced and felt very natural. The story arc with the grandparents was very well done. I found myself getting so frustrated with them like Bryce was.
Change of Plans was an engaging, heartfelt, emotional read (I found myself tearing up a couple of times). The characters were well developed and the story was engaging. The story flows effortlessly making it a great quick read for anyone looking for a heartwarming, uplifting romance.
Overall, this was a 4.75 stars for me. Thank you to NetGalley and Forever for a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
This is book 3 in the Matthew Brothers series. Might have helped if I knew that. Still a solid rom com read.
I mean a hot chef left to care for 3 little girls! Just how sweet is that?! Fall in love and laugh along the way as Bryce figures hier way through managing with these little girls who are going to give her a run for her money.
Then a swoon worthy romance to tie it all up❤️
When I started reading this book I did not realize it was third in a series. I understand now that I didn't necessarily need to read the other two before reading this one, but I think perhaps it would've made me more invested in the characters. The story was really cute and the characters were dynamic and enjoyable to read about. I found myself feeling bad for Bryce a lot of the time, it seemed that the hits wouldn't stop for her. Her nieces were adorable, and fun to read about. I think the book does a good job of showcasing PTSD and I liked how Ryker transformed during the book and opened up a bit more. Thank you to Forever and NetGalley for this ARC.
