This is book three in the Seashell Harbor series. After loving the first two books (both five stars for me) I was so excited to get my hands on the next one.
Short Synopsis:
We return to my favorite harbor town and follow Darla’s love story. Darla married young. And divorced young. She’s survived cancer. She’s a best-selling author. But she can’t seem to get over her ex-husband Nick.
My Thoughts:
I really thought I was going to (and wanted to) love this one. It has all the makings of a lovely story. I just struggled fully connecting with this one.
I adored the first two books of this series so so much. This one, in my opinion, wasn’t as good and that makes me sad. There were a few story lines that I didn’t like there and the ending felt majorly rushed.
Thank you forever for the copy in exchange for an honest review
This is the third book in the Seashell Harbor Series, and after reading it, I am kind of sorry to see the series end. Each book in the trilogy is a standalone novel, but after reading this one I would recommend reading this one last, if you are going to read the others, as it wraps up the trilogy well.
Darla is a best-selling writer of suspense novels, who has just returned home from a year away in California. She has a book deadline in 2 weeks, and after that she plans to move to California for a full time teaching position, and she plans to put her feelings for her ex-husband Nick behind her. The problem is, her best friend is set to marry Nick’s brother in 2 weeks, and she and Nick are thrown together to help with the planning. With so much trying to keep her in Seashell Harbor, will she be able to move on and make a new start? Does she want to?
A small town romance with an abundance of likeable characters, who live in a real world with real problems (struggles meeting a work deadline, kids you are babysitting locked in a bathroom, etc.) - what’s not to love?
I was so excited and happy when I discovered Miranda Liasson books and immediately read as many as I could get my hands on. This one was just ok for me I'm sad to say. It's definitely not my favorite but I'll look forward to her next one.
The Summer of Second Chances by Miranda Liasson is a wholesome romance novel that is so refreshing.
This sweet romance was an absolute blast to read, with realistic characters, and just so comforting to read.
Liasson writes a well-written summertime small-town romance story.
I found myself absolutely enchanted with this story.
Liasson has created some memorable characters here in TSoSC.
A fun and heartwarming love story I enjoyed reading and seeing how this story would unfold and Miranda didn’t disappoint.

cancer survivor Darla comes back to seashell harbor to attend her friend's wedding, she meets up with her ex-husband and they wonder if they are getting a second chance.
This second chance romance felt bittersweet. I have been looking forward to reading Darla's story as she was the tough nut to crack, having battled cancer and now in her home town to attend her best friend Hadley's wedding. However, the first things she is greeted with upon her return home is her ex-husband Nick asleep on her couch. Having her ex in such close proximity starts to stir feelings in Darla that she has tried push away, however Nick is persistent and not will give up on them having a second chance.
Nick has definitely matured and knows he deserves his second chance. Now he just needs to remind Darla of all their good times and why they belong together. A fantastic ending to this wonderful group of three best friends who all got to find their happily ever afters in their small beachside town.
The Summer of Second Chances by Miranda Liasson is book #3 in the Seashell Harbor series. What a beautiful second chance romance story! Author and cancer survivor Darla Manning returns home to Seashell Harbor after a one year teaching job in California. Her ex-husband contractor Nick Cammareri has been doing some remodeling in Darla's house while she has been gone. I really like these two characters. They both have regrets about the ending of their marriage and the story of the two of them realizing they never really stopped loving each other is beautifully written by Ms. Liasson. The way this author handled the cancer information and how caring all of Darla's friends are in her recovery is inspiring.
I loved this story from the very first page. Darla and Nick were married at a very young age and decided to go their separate ways. Darla is a writer and decides to leave the small town where she lived after receiving a job offer. When she returns to sell her house, she finds it hard to fight the old feelings she and Nick had. Besides, all her friends are there too. I found myself quickly turning the pages to see if these two have grown up enough to give their love a second chance. So much more to the story but I'm careful to not give away any spoilers!
So many "feels" while reading this book. Family, friends, adorable kids & dog, second chances, cozy small town, heartwarming moments and humorous moments too.
Any time I have a chance to read a story by Miranda Liasson, I know it is going to be a good one!
I have been waiting to read Darla and Nicks story for a while, and it did not disappoint. Darla and Nick are ex spouses whose paths keep crossing since they live in a small town, and their friends and lives are intertwined. Darla has decided that she has had enough of running into Nick constantly, and so she is going to make a big change to finally get away from him. Nick has regretted letting Darla go since their marriage ended, and has tried countless ways to show her he still cares. When Nick realizes it might be his last chance to win Darla back, will he take it?? This was a great second chances story with lots of charm, and will they won’t they tension. Another fabulous book from Miranda Liasson. I’m sad to say goodbye to these characters, but also very excited to see what she will write next!!! I received an ARC and this is my honest review.
Another great book by Ms. Liasson. I love all the characters in this book, especially the main characters Darla Manning and Nick Cammareri. Darla is back in Seashell Harbor, New Jersey after a year away in California teaching a college creative-writing program at Stanford. She has been asked to stay on as part of the faculty and to teach classes. She returned to Seashell Harbor with the idea of selling her home and accepting the position at Stanford in California. Nick, her ex-husband still lives in Seashell Harbor and he is the construction manager of the Cammareri Vintage Remodeling Company. This is a story of second chances in not only love but as a survivor. Darla is a cancer survivor. Ms. Liasson has a gift in making you feel their emotions. There is a lot more to this story which makes it a must read.
Another great story in this
series. It's about love,
family, friends, forgiveness
& second chances.
Darla & Nick, married too young.
They went their separate ways,
but their feelings never did.
I was captivated from the beginning with Darla & Nick.
There are lots of good friends,
some laughs, lots of feel-good moments, & touching love.
Recommend the Seashell
Harbor series!
This story will steal your heart!
I was so excited to finally get to read Darla and Nicks story in the Seashell Harbor series and it didn’t disappoint. This is the perfect summer light hearted, easy read book for the beach or poolside. Such a sweet story of second chance love and lessons learned. Miranda’s flash backs to stories in the characters past were particularly heartwarming. The way she weaved in the long lost Aunt Amelia storyline that she hinted at in the past 2 books was very satisfying. If you haven’t read the first 2 books I highly recommend them. I have never read a Miranda Liasson book I didn’t thoroughly enjoy this one is no exception.
