Not what I was expecting, but loved it nonetheless! Hux and Zara are grifters working a party when Richard figures out their game. He invites them to a house party which they can’t resist, but they are the only guests and he has an intriguing proposition for them.

I love this series and the MMF aspect of it. Zara is called a countess because of her previous life as a courtesan so it was surprising that the book is not about true nobility. Michaels writes characters with such great chemistry that it is hard to put her books down.

3.5 stars. A steamy conclusion to Michaels’s trio of historical ménage tales. This one features a pair of thieves and the mysteriously menacing aristocrat who catches them and has an unusual bargain in mind.

Not my favorite of the series but still a good read.

Thanks to Netgalley, the publisher, and the author for the ARC to review. All opinions are my own.

Another great installment in the Theirs series by Jess Michaels!

Their Countess introduces us to Zara Cooper, previously a courtesan known as The Countess, and her partner and lover Peregrine "Hux" Huxley. When they are caught in the act by Richard Fitzroy, they find themselves invited to his home. Thinking it would be a great opportunity to mingle and do what they do best, they jump at the offer but quickly find out that Richard has something different in mind.

As with the other books in this series, this one is pretty steamy. I will say, if you just want to dive into this book, you can. While it is a series, they all have different stories and main characters. They are also pretty quick reads.

Book 3 of the "Theirs" series by Jess Michaels, is everything you have come to expect and more! Another beautifully written sensual love story.
Again we have a menage', there are Zara and Hux, who encounter Richard, a member of the aristocracy when he approaches the pair after witnessing them in a very sensual, hot meeting after robbing the elite of society at a ball they all attended.
Richard invites them to his home where he offers a proposition they find hard to refuse. Feeling the strong pull of attraction amongst the three, they embark on a sensual adventure until their idyllic situation is interrupted by a man commissioned to find Zara and Hux by a member of the ton they stole from.
As in the previous novels, Michaels spins a beautiful, sensual story of three misfits who find each other and embark on a relationship that transcends all others. Written so feelingly and with such grace and beauty you can not help but get emotionally connected. And really, really hot too, did I mention that?
Highly recommend, with warnings that this beautiful story contains explicit M/M, M/M/F, M/F, scenes that some may find offensive, if you do then this book is not for you and you are missing a beautiful story.

Their Countess continues Jess Michaels' Theirs series, with Zara Cooper, Peregrine 'Hux' Huxley, and Richard Fitzroy. Zara and Hux are talented thieves who prey on the wealthy and have some fun while they do it. Hux is a lifelong thief, and Zara is a former courtesan who gained the nickname of Countess, as many of her clients were earls. Richard spots them at a party and is immediate fascinated by their dynamic, so he proposes a week of passion. Zara and Hux share a past and their own histories, and even Richard has some secrets of his own.

While I think Their Marchioness is still my favorite in this trilogy, I'm impressed that Their Countess still felt unique with its own characters and its own story despite following a similar dynamic to the rest of the series. Even the intimate scenes still felt fresh.

Zara is such a strong woman after overcoming her obstacles, and it was great to see Zara and Richard help Hux overcome his obstacles, which presented the main conflict of the story. I wish we could have gotten a longer scene at the end with Richard involved, because I was really interested in that dynamic.

Another steamy MMF success!

I have been a fan of Ms. Michaels' work for many years now, and I have to say that this series has been one of her best.

Long-time thief Peregrine Huxley (aka "Hux") and former mistress to the earls Zara Cooper have been partners in their game (relieving those with excess wealth of some easily fenced items) and lovers for many years. They enjoy infiltrating parties and balls posing as though they belong, and while Zara's exquisite beauty lures in the toffs, Hux lifts a pair of cuff links here, a loose watch there, and they find themselves excited (in every way!) by their sport.

One evening, as Zara and Hux are enjoying their spoils and each other, they are unknowingly observed from a darkened corner of the room. Richard Fitzroy, a wealthy spare, has not felt drawn to anyone in many years as much as he feels a pull towards both Zara and Hux. He finds himself inviting them to a house party he will be hosting... a party of 3 if all goes well.

Zara and Hux are also drawn to Richard, though they are unsure of his motives. When they arrive at the house party and discover they are the only guests, Richard proposes a week of enjoying each other and giving into their mutual desires. Zara and Hux agree, and soon the trio finds themselves enamored of each other. The week has passed by and no one has made a move to end their affair until an investigator arrives at Richard's home in search of Zara and Hux at the behest of a very persistent gentleman whose pocket watch was recently lifted.

How will Richard respond? What will happen with Hux and Zara if they are turned in? Will they flee or fight for this newfound happiness of threes?

This novella is definitely high on the heat and a quick and fast read for anyone looking for a delicious way to spend an evening. Jess Michaels’ keeps the steam high, with a light plot and fast paced ménage romance that sees all members of the party well satisfied with each other.

The heroine of this novella is referenced as a countess but in reality she is a courtesan who has been making her way in society as a thief with her partner and lover Hux. The additional hero who gets thrown in the mix is a gentleman who finds them both intriguing and cleverly realizes what they are doing. I think Jess Michaels does a lovely job of swiftly laying out the situations and then working to ramp up the chemistry between all three of the main characters. This novel is the third in this series and I did find it to be lower on the angst and a bit more light on the building of love between all three of the members in this relationship. This novella is hot, and we do see the way the heroes and the heroine come together and are beginning to build trust, but the depth of emotion I found in the other novellas in this series was a bit more lacking in this one.

Overall, this is still a well written erotic romance that was the perfect fast paced read. Jess Michaels’ is definitely an author to explore and this series is a great introduction to her work.

4.5 stars rounded up.

Former courtesan Zara Cooper now makes her way as a thief, along with her partner and lover, Peregrine “Hux” Huxley. When a mysterious gentleman, Richard Fitzroy, catches them in their antics, what Hux and Zara fear will be blackmail becomes something entirely more enjoyable.

Upon seeing the connection between Zara and Hux, Richard is shocked to find himself feeling things he’d thought never to feel again. He offers them a rather indecent proposal for one week of their time, but that quickly turns into something much more than any of them could have anticipated.

Of course, this story was super steamy, that should be no surprise. What did surprise me, however, was just how deeply emotional it was, especially for a novella. Hux and Zara already had an established connection and sizzling chemistry, but adding Richard into the mix seemed to give them both the catalyst they needed to open up to each other about their feelings. This was especially true for Hux, who had some abandonment issues and always felt a need to protect Zara while resisting anyone doing the same for him. Richard, a widower, had had an arranged marriage with little emotion involved and meeting Zara and Hux woke him up a bit. These three each brought out the vulnerability in each other and in such a way that it made them all stronger together and I enjoyed reading the development of their dynamic.

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

This is the 3rd book in this series but it can be read as a standalone. Zara and Hux are criminals but when Richard catches them, sparks fly. He invites them to his country estate and sparks fly. Fast-paced read with load of sizzling chemistry, great characters and a fast-paced and entertaining story. I liked it.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Their Countess is the third book in the Theirs series by Jess Michaels. The books in this series get better and better! Hux and Zara are thieves who get caught by Richard. Richard is instantly attracted to the couple and offers an indecent proposal.

This book, like its predecessors, has such depth in each vivid character. These romances are on the shorter side, but I feel I get to know Hux, Zara, and Richard. The author has a wonderful way of showing the strengths and faults of these three characters.

Calling this book merely steamy is a disservice! The passionate scenes are many and they are done in an organic, emotionally vulnerable way. The chemistry between Hux, Zara, and Richard are off the charts!

The rich, decadent storyline and page-melting scenes are combined to make a romance I will not forget. This is an easy to read, short story; I wish these books were longer! Jess Michaels has created three characters in Hux, Zara, and Richard with heart and soul who I was invested in 100%!

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advance copy of this book through Netgalley and the publisher. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

So, we wrap up Jess Michaels’ MMF series. As I have said before, you won’t know if you like MMF books until you try. I didn’t know until I ran up on some Kate Pearce and Samantha Kane. Now it’s one of my favorite genres, especially in historical fiction because there are several factors that come into play—specifically the gay angle and the threesome angle. We are way more accepting nowadays, so usually these situations are such that it’s a secret, possibly illegal. But oh my goodness, it’s hot.

So we’ve done two books (they’re short, more like novellas), that are unlinked, even though they’re happening in the same time and place. The last two were an actual Marquess and Duchess. Zara is called the Countess because she was an elite courtesan who was only the lover of earls. She’s no longer a courtesan, but is now a thief. Her partner in love and crime is Hux, who loves her and protects her. That’s one element throughout all three books—the heroine’s partner (we will call him Hero 1 or H1) protects her.

Anyway, Richard (H2) catches them in the act (of sex and thievery) and invites them to a house party. They’re excited, thinking there will be many rich pigeons to pluck, but learn after they get there that it’s a house party for three. Zara and Hux are both attracted to Richard, but will they surrender?

This is a great little erotic MMF tidbit, and the sexy scenes are very spicy. I absolutely love Richard, who has his own skeletons in the closet and past traumas that have chilled his heart. Can these two heat it up?

Jess Michaels always spins a good tale, and this is no exception. It’s short, like I said, so it would be the perfect travel book, even though you might blush if folks peek over your shoulder!

I liked all three books and purchased them. Their Duchess (second in the series) is my favorite (oh Ezra!), but the series wraps up at a solid 4-1/2 stars. I hope folks will give MMF a chance. It’s a great spin on the love triangle. In all of these, I have found myself rooting for H2, who is trying to work his way into the lives of a couple (even if it's just a mistress and servant relationship like Anna and Oliver in Their Duchess.

A new dynamic...

I have really enjoyed this steamy series with an MFM trope. This is the last of the three books and is just as risqué. Zara, a thief has her long time lover and protector in Hux. But their twosome is about to be a threesome when Richard wants in on the fun and games. Yes, its steamy but is nicely balanced with emotional development.
Recommend.

Loved it…. Certain a twist but Ms Michaels is not the average historical genre writer.

I Hope she will include more to this series.

Grab all three and enjoy a good read.

If you are looking for a mfm ménage that is deep in the erotica but has just enough plot then this short novel is for you. This is definitely more on the erotica side of the romance/smut/erotica triangle. The majority of the book was the physical interaction between Zara,Hux & Fitzroy. But Jess balances a growing emotional connection between the three, a brief conflict from Zara and Hux’s criminal activities and a lot of steamy ménage action very well. This is true ménage in that Hux and Fitroy are as interested in each other as they are in Zara. Highly recommend for this historical mfm erotica fans.

Their Countess is the third in Jess Michaels’ Theirs series, and the best of the three, in my personal opinion. It incorporates some elements I liked from each of the first two to create a truly satisfying sensual and emotional experience.
Zara is an instantly relatable heroine, and I like how she went from a situation as a courtesan where she was disempowered and in the hands of men who didn’t treat her right to making her way in the world, more or less on her own terms.
Hux in particular really stole the show for me. He’s the typical mysterious, yet rather sweet love interest, and I really loved how he had Zara’s best interests at heart throughout their entire relationship. He rescued her from a bad situation with a former “protector,” and never pressured her into anything, in spite of his feelings for her. And when their thievery puts her at risk, he’s prepared to give her up and take full responsibility because he thinks she’ll be better off. There were so many moments with him that made me melt.
And while Richard’s involvement is initially purely voyeuristic, he comes to fit seamlessly with Hux and Zara. He becomes invested in their well-being, and is determined to protect them from authorities out to capture them. The way he shares Hux’s instinct to protect Zara, but also Zara’s desire to protect Hux from his own self-sacrificing nature is beautiful.
This book is one of my favorite Jess Michaels books to date, and I’d recommend it to anyone who’s looking for a good example of her work, especially if they enjoy erotic and/or polyamorous historical romance.

I love historical erotica --Hux and Zara are partners in crime and lovers. Zara was a courtesan before she meet Hux - not living the life she wanted.
Hux saved her from that life and they went to the town to have a thrill stealing.

Richard is a widower who has a taste that not everyone has accepted. He noticed Zara and Hux right away. He wanted both of them

This story gives the right mix of spice with a back story. Each character had a detailed story as to how they ended up in their current position

This was a short read and it did what it was supposed to

Zara Cooper once a courtesan was known as The Countess, now she’s a thief, alongside her partner and lover, Peregrine “Hux” Huxley. But when they’re caught at their games by handsome and mysterious Richard Fitzroy, a little bit of blackmail quickly turns to enormous pleasure. After watching Hux and Zara together, Richard is drawn to them in a way he’s not felt for a long time. When he offers an indecent proposal for pleasure with them both, in exchange for his silence on their crimes, they fall into a passion so powerful it overtakes them all.
The third book in this trilogy & another hot & steamy read, which I read in a sitting. I loved both Zara & Hux but felt I didn’t really get to know Richard & would have liked for the novella to be longer so that his character could have been developed more. However I thoroughly enjoyed it but not my favourite of the series
My honest review is for a special copy I voluntarily read
