Through many personal anecdotes and scripture, Christian Bevere writes a book that encourages the reader to leave behind the things that draw you away from Christ to run towards the truth of who God made you to be. While Bevere writes honestly and fervently for change for the reader, I felt the book stayed on the surface, did not dig deep into how to internalize the truths of scripture that would help the reader lean more on Christ and what he says about each member of his creation. This book is a great introduction to the idea that we have allowed culture to say too much about who we are as image-bearers of Christ, but I felt it barely scratched the surface of the topic.
An interesting book. Definitely aimed more at teenagers and young adults. I enjoyed it but didn't feel it was super relevant for me in my 30s.
Summary:
If you're stuck in the lie that your past mistakes have limited your future, discover how to break free from shame and let God redeem, repurpose, and rewrite your story.
Thoughts:
As someone who has recently dealt with a significant amount of trauma, I can attest that a book like this is needed for fellow Christians who are walking through difficult pasts. What I loved the most about the book Break Up With What Broke You was how incredibly relatable it was. It has truly helped me to see how powerful it is to let go of your past, shame, and regret.
I really appreciate Christian's vulnerability in giving examples from her own life of how she moved on from situations in her past. I've taken a lot of notes on shame, which seems to be a major thing in my life and I didn't really realize it until this past year. I would highly recommend this book to someone struggling with things that took place in the past and wanting to move on.
I found this book to be very interesting and intriguing. I would recommend this a friend because this is a book for everyone.

I give Broke Up With What Broke You five out of five stars!
Happy Reading!
Lead by the title and description, I somehow totally missed the fact that the book is also a Christian book, and my relationships with Christian views are pretty strained. But I was pleasantly surprised by the book and author, who regained my belief in the possibility of Christian books being suitable for modern women and the current world.
Is this book for everyone? Still, not really, as it does have quite some excerpts from the Bible and their explanation, which didn't bother me much, personally, but those would be a distinguishing factor across other women's empowerment and self-help books for non-Christian readers. But you can see that I added "women's empowerment" here, and this is a winning point for this book and a reason for Christian women to choose it, as this book was like a breath of fresh air after being stuck in a dusty closet of old pushed-upon beliefs, with, finally, some realistic and feministic outlook on different life events and how to deal with them - break up with them, as, either way, it's not worth to be stuck.
Not my standard self-help book, but I enjoyed it, and would recommend it - 4 stars.
For author, Christian Bevere, thank you for sharing your experiences and finding the right words! I found something to relate to on a deeply personal level although our experiences were different.
Thank you to NetGalley and Revell for an advance copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

MY REVIEW:
This book was just what I needed, my soul was craving a fresh start from the trauma of my past, a trauma I could not release, even though it caused me so much pain and regret.
This will be a book I return to again and again on my healing journey.
Thank you to NetGalley for a copy of this book in return for my honest review.
This was an enjoyable title. Its always a bit difficult to give a review on a religious self help title. I think its one of those reads where you can take from it what you need and leave the rest. I think it'll be a great tool for those who need to heal and move on. This would be something great in audio form as well.
I requested this book based on the Bevere last name and sure enough, a relative! The author shares good stories and offers some good insight, but I feel like nothing I read was different than other similar books.
This book will be an incredible tool and companion on many people's journeys to healing and moving on from a past filled with mistakes and regrets. Christian shares with compassion and vulnerability, as she travels on the journey with you.

As somone who went through a devestating break up very recently I’m very much looking forward to reading and acquiring this. I know many of our readers will too. This is a very universal situation. I will be sharing more thoughts and a full review soon, but I very much like the presentation of what I’m seeing so far,
