I received an advance reader copy of this book to read in exchange for an honest review via netgalley and the publishers.

Super Simple Autoimmune Cookbook is a book for the adventurous to try swapping typical ingredients to help with autoimmune conditions.
I really wanted to like this book but I just couldn't imagine swapping some of the ingredients to dishes I love e.g. tomatoes in sauce for pasta to beetroot.
The book is easy to follow and has many easy to find ingredients but didn't have as many photographs of finished dishes to show what they look like which is a big bonus for me with cook books.
I'm sure people with more adventurous culinary and tastes will enjoy this book more than I did.

I don't have an autoimmune disease myself but I have family members who do and I'm always interested in eating healthier and preventing any future problems. This is a great cookbook full of recipes that seem easy to follow and I'm looking forward to trying out several of them!

Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for the review copy!

Amazing cook book with recipes I loved making. So cute and creative and cant wait to cook more from it.

Some of the tables presented in this book are helpful, but a significant number of the recipes rely on non-vegetarian cuisine.
Since I have always been vegetarian with no plans of switching, and having found food within the system for reducing inflammation, I was a little disappointed.
I liked the presentation and the overall collection. It will certainly benefit the more omnivorous of people.
Since I was unable to make anything from this book, I would not be able to provide a more in-depth review.

As someone with an autoimmune disease, I find that diet is extremely important to my health. If I eat the wrong foods, my pain levels are off the charts and I'm unable to move. I'm really grateful for this book. It gave me some new recipes to try and add to my diet. Highly recommend it for people like me.

This books talks about the autoimmune protocol and how it works, its benefits and what you can and can’t eat. Then there are recipes for breakfast, small bites, soups, salads, vegetables, meat, drinks and desserts. Some foods to avoid are: grains, beans, eggs, dairy, some oils, some herbs and some spices. I received a free digital copy of this book from NetGalley in exchange for my honest review

This cookbook drew my interest because a family member was recently diagnosed with an autoimmune disease. They had been frustrated by the list of foods to eliminate and found few acceptable substitutes. To top it off, they are not very interested in cooking. In browsing this cookbook, I found several recipes that I think they would like and would not be complicated to prepare. But, since they live in a small town, I found that a lot of the ingredients would be hard to find.
So, I think this might be an excellent resource for someone who likes to cook and has access to large or specialty grocery stores. The recipes are diverse and appetizing, and most don't seem difficult to prepare. The photos really help, and I wish there were photos of every recipe. I've known lots of people who've been able to manage autoimmune disease with diet, and this cookbook is a good choice. I might even try some of these recipes, though I don't need to change my diet.
Thank you NetGalley and Quarto Publishing Group--Fair Winds for sending this book for review consideration. All opinions are my own.

At last! A cookbook that may actually help me with my wonky immune system. I have 3 x auto-immune disorders and chronic pain. I'm essentially vegetarian too so that complicates things even further. I can't abide spicy food and always struggle with textures for other foods.

The book is split into easily navigated sections and there are lots of snackage recipes! There are recipes suitable for Meat eaters, vegetarians and vegans alike. There is even some help for when you are meal planning/prepping. I am no Martha Stewart and even I managed to cook several dishes.

Try something gut friendly!

A good selection of recipes to help with health issues. Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for letting me review this book.

Great explanation on what is AID and how to transition.
Many of the recipes will require readers to search their local grocery for the items. While easy for some it will be a challenge to those who rely on smaller stores with limited access.

Thank you to Quarto Publishing Group, the author and Netgalley for providing me with this copy. All opinions are my own.

Written by someone after my own heart / stomach! I have a salty tooth where others have a sweet tooth. One of the first recipes is for a crunchy, salty cracker to go with the hummus recipe later in the book. The cookbook is divided into traditional sections. There are lots of small bites and snacking recipes. Some great ideas for more veg focused breakfasts - plantains, maca, beets and cauliflower feature prominently in the recipes. There are quite a few meat and seafood dishes but plenty of vegetarian and vegan options as well.
The section at the beginning has useful advice for shopping and meal planning and excellent guidance for reintroduction protocol. Whether you are trying an AIP or just need some gut-friendly recipes, these are some great flavors and creative recipes!

This isn’t the cookbook for me. It has a lot of positives, and I’ll list those in a moment, but I just couldn’t connect with a lot of the recipes. A tomato free red sauce made with beets? Cauliflower oatmeal? I’m all for swaps but sometimes things go a little too off the path.

The positives:
*Relatively easy to find ingredients
*Easy to follow instructions
*Beautiful pictures to accompany recipes
*Great information on what you can and can’t have and how to add items back into your diet.

Liked the pictures and thought the recipes were super simple and delicious. Haven't had a chance to try them all but definitely can't wait to. Liked the intro about foods relating to autoimmune and the what to eat vs not eat table. Really helpful and informative.

Thank you NatGalley for the arc.

This is a beautiful cookbook that helped me decipher cooking for an auto-immune condition. I've read about this type of meal, but for some reason none of the recipes made sense to me. This book changes that, and it is "super simple." That said, some of the recipes are high priced items, and in the current inflation cycle this is difficut for many. But, to feel better is something that money can't buy. I'll definitely make some of the recipes in this book. Thank you to Quarto Publishing Group and NetGalley for an e-ARC of this title in exchange for my honest review. All opinions are my own.

Interesting cookbook. Visually beautiful, well laid out, with recipes that are simple to achieve. My one complaint would be that many of the ingredients are not easily obtainable which would make it difficult for the everyday person to find in their grocery store. That being said, there are several recipes that I can’t wait to try myself.

3 stars.

At this point, I am unsure if I have autoimmune illness(es) or simply WILD food intolerances. There are certainly several categories of foods that I am unable to eat. I took the opportunity to take this book out to check out new recipes (rather than follow this incredibly restrictive diet to a tee). It was quite average.

WHAT I ENJOYED ABOUT THIS COOKBOOK:
* It's is well laid out, with lovely photos.
* Many of the recipes are very interesting - though in most instances, many different recipes would need to be made each meal in order to eat a balanced and nutritious diet.

WHAT I REALLY DIDN'T LIKE ABOUT THIS COOKBOOK:
* To be frank, with the skyrocketing prices of groceries and me living on a very limited disability assistance budget, following this plan is absolutely financially impossible.
* This cookbook and way of eating pretty much makes animal products as the only form of protein. As such, and plant-based recipes had pretty much zero protein and would need another recipe containing meat to be made at the same time! I definitely do not have the energy to be making several recipes for every meal during the day. Further, I simply cannot afford both the meat and all of the grain/dairy/egg/etc alternatives too!
* I would really have liked to see viable, nutritionally fulfilling plant-based options.
*I have zero problems with eating meat, but eating it every day is absolutely unnecessary. Further, I totally believe that it is detrimental to life-long health to eat meat every day.
* The "preparation time" listed in the recipes were ridiculously short. It would definitely take me way longer to chop the required ingredients and put the recipe together the cook.
* Honestly, I believe that if you can tolerate a food, then you should eat it in moderation. This greater diversity helps keep us nutritionally satisfied and our gut microbiome balanced.
* I think that cookbook writers should absolutely avoid cultural appropriation. For example: if you are not Thai, you should not be making money off of publishing a cookbook that contains Thai food. This is ESPECIALLY true when you are not a person of colour, and already live with the great privilege of not living as a marginalized human. [Further, anyone who is white and disabled, can absolutely live with much more privilege than BIPOC folks despite experiencing either disadvantages or marginalization as someone with disabilities (including living with autoimmune diseases).]
* Cauliflower is used as a substitute in so many recipes. There are often better substitutes for specific recipes. This also excludes folks that might be allergic to cauliflower.

Huge gratitude to the publisher, Quarto Publishing Group – Fair Winds, New Shoe Press, and NetGalley for an ARC copy of this cook book in exchange for my (probably too) honest review.

This cookbook was well laid out and easy to read. The recipes are simple and the ingredients, wholesome. I love the lists of haves and have nots, makes it easy when grocery shopping. A lot of ingredients featured like turmeric and lemongrass are also used in Ayurvedic cooking, which is known to be gut friendly and healing. Can’t wait to try a few of these recipes and incorporate more anti-inflammatory foods to my diet.
