This is a book full of recipes that target immune strength. The pictures are beautiful and the dishes are easy to make.
I can understand that if you have an auto-immunity decease that this could be really helpful to incorperate in your diet.
Thank you to Quarto Publishing Group, the author and Netgalley for providing me with this copy. All opinions are my own.
Overall, I greatly enjoyed this book. The first chapters cover the key concepts of the Autoimmune Protocol (abbreviated to AIP throughout) in accessible language. I've read a few similar books and their explanation of the elimination/reintroduction phases often felt overwhelming and unclear. It was nice to see a book address the basics in concrete terms.
I had the opportunity to try a few recipes. I need to note that I am vegan so this limited the range of recipes I could try though there looked to be many delicious-sounding meat-based recipes. I tried the No-Fail Turmeric Tortillas, the White Minestrone, the Vegetable Curry, and the Sweet Potato Gratin. Each recipe was truly super simple and tasty. I will note that several recipes had ingredients that I would find it hard to locate, such as tigernut flour, so if you need to be able to make most/all of the recipes in order for the purchase to be worth it, this might not be the one. There are, however, plenty that have accessible ingredients. I plan to continue to explore the book to make additional recipes over the coming weeks.
If you are a newbie to this diet choice and/or need some health conscious recipes, I highly recommend!
I found this to be the perfect cookbook for myself, as I have an autoimmune disease. This cookbook offers a lot of easy to make anti inflammatory recipes and makes me excited to start cooking!
Thank you to Net Galley!
This looks like a great cookbook, but I have to be honest - I found it really hard to read on my phone. Very frustrating that it wasn't available to send to my device.
The recipes look great and I will definitely check them out.
Perfect cookbook for someone that deals with Autoimmune issues like myself. Full of great advice and easy anti inflammatory recipes this really is a godsend to someone going through these types of issues and not willing to sacrifice good tasty appealing food. I highly enjoyed this one and found many different foods that Zi want to try as well as plans to follow that will help eliminate some of the debilitating side effects that go along with diet and disruption of the immune system.
I'm obsessed with this book and can't wait for summer to roll through so I can access all of the necessary ingredients I'll need to make these recipes. As my body ages, I've learned that it's getting harder and harder to cook for my body; learning to avoid certain ingredients that will likely cause reactions and bloating is hard to do. I am confident in my ability to guide my stomach to a healthier future with Super-Simple Autoimmune Cookbook and am so thankful for the access..
This is a simple guide for recipes that won't attack your autoimmune system. These can be used to see which foods might trigger responses and the like. On that note, there are useful replacements for ingredients that can cause flares. Keeping in mind that it is hard to cook while replacing a large range of foods and food groups this does a good job. Despite this some of the recipes sound a bit alarming, especially the color that the red sauce used to replace tomato sauce turns out to be. With that said, these recipes should be tested to see what works best for you.
I am always looking for good reliable cookbooks to hand sell and this one will be a great one to recommend. So many great recipes that are easy to make. Winner.
Recipes that target immune strength - easy and straightforward, you know, for those of us who aren't friends with the kitchen! One of the best ones I've found.
I’m sure this book was really great, but being vegan, there wasn’t too many vegan options. The pictures looked great and the book was informative, but I wish there were recipes for all different diets.
Auto-immune and immunity are very subjective topics these days: my naturopath niece and I share different opinions but if you are working around certain food allergies or intolerances, this is a great book to pick up as it eliminates so many food groups. (She is coeliac so that is what got her into naturopathy and there is also a severe dairy allergy in our family so she cooks "autoimmune" all the time. In fact, there are so many food allergies (and orthorexic quirks) that I no longer cook for anyone outside of my immediate family as they are a NIGHTMARE to deal with...some days I think all I should serve is water...alkaline water of course!
If you want to follow an autoimmune protocol, pick up this book: or if you are just looking for recipes that you swear will make you healthier overnight, this might be the book. I just wanted to make them more ... palatable ... so it was not the book for me but it may be for you or some of my clientele.
Super-Simple Autoimmune Cookbook : Quick and Easy Recipes for Healing the Immune System is a collection of recipes aimed at reducing and even eliminating autoimmune symptoms. There are recipes for breakfasts, snacks, soups, salads, mains, desserts and drinks, and the author includes lots of additional advice and information about autoimmune conditions. The aim is to reduce inflammation with easy to make recipes and simple ingredients. However there are many ingredients that are not so simple or easily accessible in the UK so it wasn't as simple as I hoped. That said there are some good recipes and ideas and overall this book is a really useful resource.
Super-Simple Autoimmune Cookbook is a wonderful book for people that suffer from autoimmune problems and can help inflammation. The book details what to remove and how to gradually add in items. The recipes are unique but includes many that have simple ingredients. Thank you Netgalley and Quarto Publishing Group for this ARC.
An interesting read with lots of useful information and recipes. I skim read this book 8n the first instance and then went back and dipped into it in more detail.
An interesting Cookbook focusing on trying to sort out Autoimmune problems through diet. I, myself, suffer from an Autoimmune disease and have (and still am) explored various diets. I should point out that I've read this from the British side of the Atlantic so some of the ingredients I had to look up (Jicama for one) and not even sure I can easily obtain here. The measurements are in mysterious cups but luckily do have metric grams and millilitres as well for people like me..
Despite all this I did find some interesting advice and recipes, I have certainly taken on board the alternative Italian inspired sauce that doesn't involve nightshade plants (one of my triggers). I would also love to try the Onion-Basil Crackers as Sophie so rightly points out, I do crave a crisp cracker but must try and track down the flours mentioned. It was also interesting in the elimination part of the diet before introducing possible trigger foods that red meat was not included (here one is advised against animals with 4 legs, 2 are OK apparently!) plus a real no-no (for some people, a friend included) is strawberries which are included in a lot of recipes. But we are all different and it is a good starting block with lots of sound advice with good easy to follow recipes that don't involve lots of ingredients.
This book can be a wonderful blessing for those suffering from Autoimmune problems and can offering relief from inflammation. The book details what to remove and how to gradually add in items. The recipes are creative and include many that have simple fresh ingredients that provide food that everyone can enjoy and not isolate those with issues. I would recommend this for someone to see if this resolves some if not all of the pain/inflammation caused by the disease.
These recipes are indeed super simple. Most of the cookbook has visuals, which I think is great. The more the better. There isn't a whole lot of strange recipes here, even though its focus is autoimmunity.
There are quite a bit of recipes that I had variances of, so I would not go in hoping to find too much out of the ordinary for this type of diet.
If someone is starting an autoimmune diet, I would recommend this, though. Straight forward, easy cooking. Good tasting.
I received a copy of this book through NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
If you have dietary restrictions this is a helpful recipe book!
The book includes pictures of some of the recipes and and has a variety of recipes that exclude the most common food allergies and intolerances. The book includes recipes for every meal. Some of the ingredients are unfamiliar to me so I can't speak to how good they'd be, but other recipes are more approachable. For those looking to reduce the allergens in their foods this book has some nice ideas.
Super=Simple Autoimmune Cookbook lived up to its name. It is simple and the photos and presentation gave a great look for clean eating. I also as the author Sophie Van Tiggelen have Hashimoto's thyroiditis which I haven't been able to reverse as Sophie has but my symptoms are much lesser than what Sophie had. Sophie Van Tiggelen has stated she did reverse her autoimmune with her diet and lifestyle. I do follow her blog and it is well done but would love for her to be on social media more for daily reminders her cookbook was short just 5 pages but almost all the recipes had photos which were helpful. I truly enjoyed this cookbook and will be implementing quite a few.
I would like to thank Net Galley and the outstanding publisher Quarto for the opportunity to read and review Super-Simple Autoimmune Cookbook by Sophie Van Tiggelen.
Description from Netgalley
Use food to heal with this quick-and-easy collection of recipes aimed at reducing and even eliminating autoimmune symptoms.

"Gladly" I do not have any autoimmune symptoms, "only" lactose intolerant - and this sometimes (but I do take care not to consume much dairy products or us Lactose free stuff).
As far as I can tell, the cookbook is really helpfull for newly diagnosed people, because it tells you what to use in your kitchen, what to avoid and how to prepare stuff. Also the receipes sound really good, although it´s "customized" - but that doesn´t matter in my opion: Food is Food, so I will try a few receipes.
The book is nicely edited, clean and crisp with a couple of pictures - so a good recommendation to someone as gift (someone with an autoimmune diagnose)
#SuperSimpleAutoimmuneCookbook #NetGalley - thanks for making me hungry again =)
