This book is great for anyone who is a beginner in the kitchen, or anyone |like me) who just really loves recipe books!
The recipes are not intimidating, don't feature hard to source ingredients and are healthy in a really balanced and accessible way.
Make no mistake, this is a quality production, with some droolworthy photography! Measurements are given in both cups and grams (thank you!!) making it super easy, no matter what side of the pond you are on.
Recipes all look great, with breakfasts, snacks, mains and sweet stuff all extensively covered. Personally I am going to start with the PB&J frozen yoghurt bark - yum!
So good to see a recipe book that accommodates the current cost of living crisis. This is a book that ticks a lot of boxes, showing that we can enjoy great, and fairly healthy food on a budget.
My thanks to NetGalley, author and publisher for the oppose review this book in exchange for an advance copy.
A little underwhelmed a book titles tasty, healthy cheap during the cost of living croses starts out breakfast with superior avocado toast! Really...I think the lens was a little off for this one. Personal power smoothie with cahsews - one of THE most expensive nut there is!
I always love discovering afford meals that are easy to make. The instructions in this book were super clear and simple, and the photographs were great because I totally eat with my eyes. A did find I already knew a lot of the recipes so it was a bit limited for me, but I feel like if you're a beginner cook, and on a budget, this is a fabulous start!
This is a lovely cookbook packed with photos and recipes that seem fun and tasty. I’m not familiar with the author but he seems likable and the recipes are great. It doesn’t work for our family because most of the recipes are too high in carbs and gluten but it should be a good cookbook for most, beginners and experienced cooks alike. It includes vegetarian recipes and a nice variety of foods.
There is no nutritional information, which is another reason I couldn’t try the recipes and that it won’t work for our family. There were a few recipes that really intrigued me though, and that’s hard to do with the number of cookbooks I’ve read and cooked from.
I read a temporary digital ARC of this book via NetGalley.
'Tasty. Healthy. Cheap.' is an excellent, more modern take on an introductory cookbook. The recipes are clear, well-formatted, and approachable. While there are some ingredients that may be new for some students (or amateur cooks), nothing stood out as difficult to obtain or overly costly. I appreciate this books approach to using each piece of purchased products (i.e., using the zest and juice of a citrus fruit in one recipe or having a recipe for stock to make use of any vegetable scraps).
Personally, I didn't find a ton of recipes that would stand out in my cookbook collection, but I'm also not the definitive target audience for this cookbook. I think it would be best for younger folks starting out on their own for the first time or individuals who just haven't been as comfortable with cooking their own meals and need a place to start.
This cookbook is perfect for it's target audience. Students who have no experience will benefit from the basics chapter.
The instructions are clear and easy to follow.
.Aimed at students and younger people, I question WHY NOT ANYONE as lots of people can’t cook, hate to cook or just are too lazy to cook…this book could help them.
I don’t know who this person is but the book has good suggestions and easy-to-understand recipes. Will recommend it to people learning to cook or who want to eat cheaper
But one question: if he is a millionaire because of being known for KWOOWKing, why not have that in the title??
UPDATE: I looked him up on Youtube..as of today he has 980,095,984 views and that is in 19 months of having a "channel" named @letsKWOOWK

This book was filled with delicious-looking recipes, and I liked the structure a lot. My favorite parts of this book were the basic recipes + terminology/techniques section that explained common cooking terminology and also showed some cooking techniques. The on-the-go recipes section was also really helpful and I think anyone who eats on-the-go will find some helpful recipes in this book.
I love the breakdown of equipment, staple ingredients, and basic techniques at the start of the book! They provide the reader with a great foundation to tackle the recipes with confidence. I also enjoyed the large variety of simple & new takes on various meals. There’s a lot to learn from this fun cookbook!
Fun simple recipes that anyone could make in their own home or dorm for college age. A great beginner chef cookbook as well as some fun recipes for more advanced chefs looking for a quick and easy meal.
This is a great cookbook for someone just beginning to learn to cook who wants tasty, economical dishes. I kept thinking about my son while I was going through this and thinking, he could make this recipe and he would love it. There are some recipes I am eager to try myself , especially the taco recipes.
Love that this book takes the time to walk beginner cooks through some basic cooking procedures! All of the recipes look so delicious, and there are a great variety of them!
I love that the recipes have variety but wouldn't be expensive to make. Though, I do think there is a large ratio of chicken dishes. There are also a variety of vegetarian recipes which is nice.
I love to have good recipes at hand that are fast, easy, healthy, and cheap. I found many good vegan recipes in this book, and I will most definitely try some of them. I also think it is a really good thing that there are pictures of how to fold a burrito, how to make perfect rice, and how to make an easy veggie stock. These are really useful, but quite often overlooked in cookbooks. Can't wait to try the roasted veggie risotto and creamy chickpea curry!
As a college student, the recipes in this book are perfect for me! I loved the variety of flavors and cultural inspirations that were put into these recipes, and the photos are beautiful. This is definitely a cookbook that I could see myself using often, and I'll be on the lookout for a physical copy!
Oh gosh there are soooo many tasty recipes in this book. I literally cannot wait to make them all. They all look completely drool worthy.
