The end of this book sums it up nicely: "Dear remarkable girl, this story's for you! Let's celebrate all of the things you can do. No matter what happens, you get to be you. Just find what you love and go see it through!
Each spread of pages is wonderfully illustrated with girls, Abby, Rosita, Zoe, and their Sesame Street friends, doing things that show wonderful things that girls can do. They are kind, smart, strong, creative and more. I like that the characters are reminded to find what they want to do and to be themselves. They also have days where things don't always go right, but they are assured that they are always enough. The end of the book has affirmations that can be repeated each day. (ie: I am kind, I am smart, I am courageous, I am unique, I am curious). The text is written in rhyming couplets and has a good cadence to read aloud. The illustrations are full of expression and friends working and doing things together. My granddaughter enjoyed this one and repeated the affirmations with me. Of course, my grandson also listened and was a bit put out that boys could be all those things too. We talked about how everyone can say the affirmations and feel good about themselves, so he was somewhat mollified. (he's only 5, so I didn't want to get into the whole stereotypes of girls vs boys yet).

I was excited to read this because I have read a lot of lovely Sesame Street books, especially titles by Lillian Jaine. I liked that this book focused on the female characters but unfortunately it did not feel unique from the many other "girl power"-themed children's books out there. I liked the "you are enough" message toward the end and wish it would have focused on that theme throughout, since feeling that they have to do and be everything is something a lot of women and girls struggle with.

Sesame Street has a special place in my heart as I grew up loving Big bird and Cookie Monster.

This beautiful story is for all girls big and small. It empowers them to be the best they can be, never give up and reach for their goals.

A really empowering book bringing joy to the reader. A lovely set of affirmations at the end of the book as well for children to read with their adults.

This book was so cute. My daughter both loved it. Sesame has always been a hit in our house and this one did not disappoint. I am trying to raise my daughter's to be strong and brave and not let anyone tear them down.

I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving my honest review voluntarily.

Girl Power is all about the girls at Sesame Street taking control of their lives and bringing positive things to themselves and the world around them. What a fantastic gift to give little girls the message in this book. Fun, powerful, and inspiring! ❤️

Thanks Netgalley and the publisher for the opportunity to review this advanced review copy (ARC) in exchange for my honest review on the book!

Love love love it Absolutely perfect book to encourage and empower young girls. I adore this book and all that it stands for
With amazing illustrations of our beloved Sesame Street characters that we adore. Sesame Street is a huge deal in our home. This wonderful story tells how amazing each and every girl is and how outstanding they will be. It is showing children early how important and wonderful they are. How great it is to be unique and to just be themselves. They are capable of anything. I highly recommend this story for any girl mom to share with her little one.

Even I felt proud to be me. I can’t wait to buy this for my daughter.

Continuing their mission to create a positive, educational environment for children, Sesame Street’s latest release encourages the next generation of readers to take pride in their unique spirits, bodies, and minds.

Since my five-year-old has never been interested in watching the show on television, I was shocked when she eagerly chose Girl Power from the shelf. The cover’s brilliant illustrations were her initial reason behind the decision, but by the end of the book the colorful monsters and enthusiastic children were only part of what had her enamored. When asked what she liked most, she cited the pages of bold affirmations and assured this was no less than a five star read.

Having read it multiple times now, I have no doubt this will continue to be a favorite for the season. With any luck, the narrative’s emphasis on self-love will remain long after.

Thank you to NetGalley, Sesame Workshop, and Sourcebook Kids for a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

A great book on girl power from our favorite television Muppets. I love the brightness of the book, what the different characters are doing through the course of the book and how there are sad moments featured in the book as well. The affirmations are wonderful as well.

This kind of book made me reflect if these gender affirming books will go away in the future, or just be more specific to non-binary and boys as well.

I read this with my 2 year old and she enjoyed it. It did not keep her attention all the way through but she has asked to read it again since the 1st time though. I love the message. She seemed to really enjoy repeating the affirmations at the end. I would buy a physical copy of this book. #ARC #netgalley

This is a good book for youngsters. I loved seeing the Sesame Street characters giving positive messages. I think all daycares and pediatricians offices should have access to it.

My 2 year old daughter absolutely loved this book! She had so much fun reading it with me and wanted to do a lot of the activities shown. She also enjoyed pointing out the shapes and little details like finding bees on one page! I will definitely be buying her a hard copy of this!

This is a wonderfully adorable children’s book written to empower our young girls minds. Even as a grown non-binary person, I still felt the empowerment and loving message throughout this book. This is a definite must have for young minds to remind them they are incredible people and can make it through the challenges life throws at them. And to be getting that message from the loveable characters of Sesame Street makes it even better! Highly recommend.

Thanks to sourcebooks for this eARC!

Very cute book of affirmations for young girls. This would be a great read before school for a moment of connection to start a busy day. The illustrations are nicely done and feature some of the most popular Sesame Street muppets.

Thank you NetGalley and SOURCEBOOKS Kids, Sourcebooks Wonderland for accepting my request to read and review Girl Power (Sesame Street).

First: I loved the illustrations. The color palette is cheerful. Happiness radiates from the pages. The cover has three characters and I looked at it for several minutes and just couldn't pick a favorite. I loved all three.

Second: The story was too wordy for me. I tried to imagine engaging a 5-7 year-old and couldn't see it. I thought the power references were too old for the intended audience. I would have preferred the acts be set at home.

Overall, it has adorable illustrations, and needs attentive guardians or parents teaching volunteering, helping another and being kind to bring self-respect and confidence. I don't see this as a babysitter read.

I absolutely love Sesame Street and so does my daughter. This book is perfection! I will absolutely be buying this for my daughter. Between the amazing message, the illustrations we love from Sesame Street, and the motivational sayings at the end. It was all a huge win for me as a mother to a powerful little girl!

Thanks @netgalley for the eARC!

Let me start by saying we are a big fan of Sesame Street in our house and my 3-year-old daughter is a HUGE Abby fan. So that is what led me to read this one to her. But beyond that, I absolutely love the messaging. I love the characteristics highlighted and the values. And I love the message that they are more than enough. I will be buying this one for our personal library. But thank you for the ARC!
