A colourful and beautiful book for young children with rhymes that they can easily remember. Definitely a great one for bed time reading and a book that will be deeply treasured by children and adults alike.

I received a copy of this book through Netgalley. This is my honest review.
This book is filled with rhymes, and the flow to create them is very smooth. It's not really a story as there is no plot, it's just kind of a catalog of various animals and things that they do or simple facts about them. It is a good way to introduce children to animals, but doesn't have much educational value beyond that.
The illustrations were soft and wispy, focusing on the animals themselves without a lot of background included. A few of the illustrations included fun non-animal related items (like a cane and a knife), but for the most part they were fairly straightforward animal pictures.
Overall I give this book 3.27 out of 5 stars.
I honestly didn't expect too much from this, as I knew from the 'Cat' entry to the series it was serviceable and little more. We certainly get decent enough portraits of a lot of animals, from octopus to hippo to beaver to the titular bear (and a different cat turning up), but with just one line beneath that's part of a rhyming couplet. And that's not really enough to call this "rhymes for children" when it's only one poem with neither beginning nor end. Moreover, all told the insight into what said animals actually like is a bit slim at the best of times. It's a perfectly pleasant diversion – for all of five minutes, and then we're on to something better. Three stars for a book that really shows how the verdict "it's fine" can be damning with faint praise.
Beautifully illustrated rhyming story book, lovely short sentences great for new readers, thank you netgalley for the advance copy,
What Bear Likes Best is the first book in the rhyming book series. And it is adorable with cute illustrations.
The rhymes are fun to read and they have that sing-song appeal that is sure to please any preschooler. However, there isn't any story about Bear since the animals depicted are random. But the rhymes are designed to highlight a key characteristic of a particular animal.
Though the rhymes are cute and fun, I would have preferred a rhyming story about Bear. After all, the book is titled What Bear Likes Best.
Overall, What Bear Likes Best is a very entertaining book with great appeal. Four stars.
I received a digital ARC from NorthSouth Books through NetGalley. The review herein is completely my own and contains my honest thoughts and opinions.
I hope the parrot will be free soon ^^ All the animals are nice.
Short sentences good for children to start learning to read. Thank you for sending me this e-ARC.
I wasn't expecting to find this children's book as charming as I did. The illustrations and rhymes are very cute!! The writing isn't too lengthy or complicated and I think a child could easily catch onto the words and read along as well. The illustrations are well done and fun to look at, and include a myriad of animals engaging in all kinds of activities. A nice mix of innocent and silly, would recommend to someone looking for simple literature and a cute story.
This is a delightful rhyming book that little ones will enjoy. The illustrations are colourful and detailed and the animal characters are adorable. The book includes eleven fun scenarios. The text is simple making it perfect for beginning readers.
" What Bear Likes Best: Rhymes for children is the first in the series of three adorable vintage books of rhymes from Erwin Moser featuring a comical sweet crew of animals.
Also in the series:
What Cat Likes Best
What Hedgehog Likes Best
I love the book and happily recommend it!
The illustrations were beautiful, with adorable characters. The rhyming was spot-on and quite educative. A simple little book that would make your kids smile. I loved the quirkiness of this book.
I think this is an adorable little book. It is very simple, with only a line per page and a nice illustration. I think provides a fun, rhyming, rhythmic way to share a simple fact (though, in some cases, they're not truly facts but fun statements) about each of the animals featured.

We meet so many cute animals here. The little beaver had the cutest sweetest face.
The rhymes were short and sweet.
The little cat was super adorable.
The leopard looked comfortable.

The illustrations were well done.

I really appreciate the high quality illustrations as I feel the most focus of the team is on the visuals which is quite appropriate for the young readers.

I read a lot of children’s books with my little sister and we both agree that this is one of the bad ones. The illustrations are just okay. All in all the book was boring.
