I LOVE Samantha Chase - and I LOVE the Donovans series! WOW! Another absolutely brilliant release, and I can't believe she's written each book even better than the previous. I just love every book she puts out more than the last, and I can't wait to devour her words every time I see mention that she has another one coming. I'm so in awe of this gal, and I'm smitten with all her book series, but most especially the Donovans. If you haven't read any of Chase's books, please pick up this series (from the start - Dare Me). You will love them all!
Charm Me, the latest addition, follows youngest brother Jamie. He's the charmer of the family (hence the title). His older brothers are the serious ones, the military man and the realtor trying to take over the town. He's working at his parent's pub and has a new girl on his arm every night... which has now come back to haunt him. A girl from last year has been trying to get in touch with him for months, but he's been blowing her off, ignoring her calls, until one day, a car drives away from his house after ringing the bell - but there's a tiny little bundle of crying joy on the step. His bundle of joy, and she's taken off with a note that says she has to go take care of herself, and will be back in a couple of months, but this is his son, who is 10 days old.
Jamie calls in the troops - his siblings, who have no clue what to do since no one else has kids either. His one sister has a brilliant plan ... to call in Jamie's long-time nemesis, because Fallon has advance degrees in childhood development and education. What could go wrong with this plan! Their parents are best friends and they've all known her since as far back as they can remember. Too bad they've had a rivalry since they were in kindergarten and she beat him in a bicycle race. Everyone would love it if they wound up together - except them.
I adore Chase's writing style, the banter and chemistry she always has between the characters, and just the right amount of steam. It's absolute perfection! I couldn't ask for anything better. I completely and totally recommend this book to everyone (you could get away with reading this as a standalone, but why miss out on the other sibling's stories!).
The audio for this series is the way to go - they're all read by one of my very favourite ladies, Carly Robins. You should definitely listen to this one. She does a fantastic job!
I received an advance review and listen copy from NetGalley, Valentine PR and Dreamscape Media, and this is my honest feedback.
4 ½ Stars for these enemies-to-lovers!
Ms. Chase has this style of writing that warms your heart and feeds your soul. I love the Donovan clan ... they are all so realistic and make me want to live in their world. Jamie can charm the panties off any woman he wants ... except Fallon. Even though he's a little arrogant, he's very lovable and just wants to be friends with the women after he dates them. Everyone thinks Fallon is successful with her degree and has it all together, but she really doesn't and she doesn't want to disappoint her parents. This is a great addition to the series and I can't wait for Patrick's story.
Jamie and Fallon have been rivals since they were five years old. Everything was a competition and frankly they just didn't like each other. But when a baby is dropped on Jamie's porch - his baby that he knew nothing about - he panics and calls his siblings for help. The Donovan siblings in turn call Fallon. They know she just got back to Laurel Bay, has a degree in early childhood development and would be the perfect person to show Jamie how to care for his son. The only trouble is they have to get Jamie and Fallon to agree ... good luck with that!

While I did enjoy this book at parts I did feel like it was rushed. Jamie and Fallon are really cute together and I hope her family will be a new series. I do love a surprise baby, but this is a surprise baby with a twist. Overall very enjoyable and entertaining.
This is the second book in The Donovans series that I have read, and I love reading about the Donovan family. I love the bond that they have, and they always step up for each other. 'Charm Me' focuses on Jamie Donovan, and his childhood enemy/nemesis Fallon Murphy. Things have been going great for Jamie.... until he's surprised with a baby left on his doorstep. When his family steps in to help him, his sister, Ryleigh, calls the one person that Jamie never wants to help him- Fallon.
For Fallon, nothing is going right for her. She's been fired from her last two jobs because her employers don't think that she is a team player. She has spent so much time in school, and now, she has to go out into the world and apply all of the knowledge. Feeling defeated, she moves back home to Laurel Bay. When she gets a phone call from her friend, Ryleigh, Fallon goes to help. She is shocked to see that Ryleigh wants Fallon to help Jamie take care of his baby.
As the animosity between Jamie and Fallon begins to dissipate, they start to become friends and possibly more. They find that they have things in common, and they start to feel like a family. But will it last?
I found Jamie to be immature, but Fallon brought out the best in him. I appreciated what the author, Samantha Chase, did with the character of Jenn, who was the baby's biological mother. It would have been easy to see her as the villain, but Chase was able to write her as a character with depth and struggle.
Overall, I really enjoyed going back to spend time in Laurel Bay with The Donovans. I loved that there was a bonus preview for the next book in the series, and I can't wait to read about Patrick's love story.
Thanks to NetGalley and Valentine PR for an ARC of this book.
Manchild has a baby...
Jamie is a manchild, coasting through life being shallow and getting by on his so called charm (which I saw none of). He's irresponsible and ends up with a baby on his doorstep (figures). Its up to good girl Fallon, who is literally left holding someone else's baby. Jamie and Fallon do not get along, but she's still the one changing baby diapers.
Finally getting the chance to prove to his family that he can be in charge of the family pub while his parents take a much needed vacation, Jamie Donovan has his ducks lined up and is ready to show them all. The last thing he expected was to have a little bundle of joy left at his doorstep, leaving him needing the help of the one person he could never seem to get long with - Fallon Murphy. But with lots of time together they seem to get along and work together - but can they also find that hate can turn into love? With loads of laughter and even more undeniable chemistry between the characters, Samantha Chase once again gives her readers exactly what they were looking for. This is my favorite in the series so far.
The pacing in this story was insane. The main characters’ relationship progressed so quickly! It was just too unbelievable for me.
THE BLURB:
There isn’t anyone in Laurel Bay he hasn’t been able to charm.
But charming a baby is a whole different story.
Life has never been better for Jamie Donovan. Always has been. And now that it’s his turn to take charge of the family pub, he truly feels like everything in his life is just the way it’s supposed to be. Or it was until an early morning knock on his door ended with a baby on his doorstep. The man who can normally charm his way out of any situation doesn’t know the first thing about taking care of a baby and running a business. And so he turns to his siblings for help.
And once they tell him their solution, he wishes he’d never asked for help.
Fallon Murphy has always prided herself on being good with people. In all her life, she’s only met one person she hasn’t been able to get along with. Unfortunately, their parents are best friends and avoiding him just wasn’t a choice. When his sister calls stating an emergency, the last thing Fallon expects is to find an abandoned baby – one that belong to Jamie. As much as she’d love nothing more than to see Jamie fail at something, she would never put an innocent child at risk.
They’re rivals.
Sworn enemies.
And now…roommates.
Can one small baby help turn adversaries into lovers? Or maybe even…a family?
MY REVIEW:
Charm Me is an enemies-to-lovers, surprise baby romance featuring an often-used, common plot.
The story follows enemies Jamie and Fallon, who, when forced together to care for a newborn, discover that they don’t hate each other quite as much as they thought they did.
I found the character of Jamie immature and unlikeable and felt that the character of Fallon was not fully fleshed out.
While this is part of a series, you can easily read it without needing to read any of the others. A lightweight, quick read, easily read in well under an hour.
Thank you to NetGalley for a copy of this book in return for my honest opinion.
Charm Me by Samantha Chase is the fourth book in the Donovans series.
Jamie Donovan is the charmer of the family. Ask anyone they will tell you he's the laid-back carefree Donovan sibling. He usually doesn't mind that his family doesn't take him seriously, but with his parents gone on their much needed vacation, he's in charge of the family bar. And he's determined to prove everyone wrong. Yet fate has stepped in to throw chaos into the mix in the form of one tiny baby left on Jamie's porch. He's immediately thrown into crisis mode and calls upon his siblings for assistance. This is when he realizes that getting the help he needs comes with accepting it from his nemesis.
Fallon Murphy feels like an utter failure returning home to Laurel Bay in disgrace and jobless. She had such high hopes for herself and needs the time to figure out her next steps. When her friend reaches out for help, she's more than willing to jump in until she realizes who she's bailing out. To say there is animosity between Fallon and Jamie would be an understatement. For years, they have poked and challenged each other, but in the end, their families are close. So when her help is needed to care for the unexpected baby, of course, she's willing to step in.
Determined to get along for the sake of creating a routine, Fallon and Jamie are forced into close quarters. Then things start to change, and the underlying feelings are not of dread but attraction. Could all these years as frenemies really have been extended foreplay and a buried attraction that can no longer be denied?
Jamie Donovan is used to charming everyone in Laurel Bay and always getting his way, but when his ex drops off a baby on his doorstep and leaves, his whole world changes. He has never gotten along with family friend, Fallon Murphy, but when she is really the only solution to his problem, he thinks that he will easily be able to charm her too. Fallon just lost her second job and is moving home to figure out what she needs to do to be better and what job will really make her happy. When Jamie needs her help, she really doesn't want to be the one to help him, but when she meets his son, she falls in love with him.
This fourth book of the Donovan series was sweet with the addition of Jamie's son. I am not the biggest fan of Jamie, he just seems like a douche. I do feel like him being with Fallon helped him start to grow and change from that though. Fallon and her love for kids is ideally what saved Jamie and really brought him back into somewhat good guy territory.
This is the 4th book of The Donovans series, it can be read as stand alone. My third in this series and this book is good. I love Donovan family how they jump to help without questioning everything. But Jamie attitude..yucks.. im on Fallon side, you cant cut someone off from a baby. I love how the story goes on and how it give lead to Fallon future.
Thank you to NetGalley for provide this book, it is pleasure to review this book.

A great romantic comedy book... Who doesn't love a a good book with an adorable baby in it? A book that is binge worthy... Totally loved the ending...
I wasn’t sure if Jamie was going to be up to the challenge, but he pulled out the win! Fallon wasn’t charmed AT ALL in the beginning. I guess all the bickering in the past really was the prelude to an amazing story of teaming up and falling fast!
Charm Me is the next book in The Donovans series and it is definitely one worth picking up!
Jamie Donovan has always been the one that has enjoyed the single life and isn't ready to settle down. He enjoys working at the family pub and enjoys the women he spends his time outside of work with, but he makes it known he isn't in the game for anything serious. When his parents take a long overdue vacation, he is left in charge of the pub and he's looking forward to proving himself. What he isn't expecting is when the last woman he was with leaves a three week old baby on his doorstep that says is his.
Jamie's sister calls the last person he would ever expect to help, Fallon Murphy, given her early childhood background. Fallon and Jamie have been butting heads since they were small children, so asking her to come help with Jamie's son is a huge risk. With Fallon currently unemployed, she is able to help out with Asher while Jamie figures out how to juggle life with the pub and a newborn. As Jamie and Fallon spend time together working to get Asher on a schedule, they also realize they like one another and there are feelings there and not those of animosity, but of attraction and desire. Can they make something work between them?
While I adored this story and how it all ended up playing out, there were several times I wanted to throttle Jamie. I felt like he was very immature and he didn't really mature as the story went along. I didn't feel like he grew very much at all. I also feel like we missed out on some of who Fallon was. We didn't know as much about her as I wished we would have.
Overall, I enjoyed this story and I am really excited about the next book in this series. It can't come fast enough!

Charm Me is a story of childhood rivals with the appearance of a surprise child. Personally, I was not emotionally involved neither in the plot or with the characters.
Quick Summary: A frenemies to lovers romance
My Review: Charm Me by Samantha Chase is book four in The Donovans series. It chronicles the relationship of Jamie Donovan and Fallon Murphy.
About the Book: No love has ever been lost between Jamie Donovan and Fallon Murphy. From their childhood and into their adulthood, they have chosen to give each other a wide berth. Over the course of time, they settled into keeping a very necessary distance from each other, despite the fact that their families are close. When an unexpected, life-changing incident occurs, the forever frenemies soon realize that something serious may be budding between them.
About the Characters:
Jamie - > Fun loving, easy going, and laid back; a sexy charmer; family-oriented and loyal; shares a tight bond with his siblings; responsible yet learning to be even more so
Fallon - > Only child who has a close relationship with her parents; professional; insecure due to setbacks and emotionally impacted by circumstances, has goals; has a strong constitution; friends with the Donovan clan (well, maybe except for Jamie)
My Final Say: This Donovan installment had a very mature story. It went in a direction that I never even anticipated. I loved how it broached the topic of mental illness. The featured scenario that Jamie found himself in was realistic and believable. Fallon's presence gave the special situation some texture. I loved how her engagement provided food for thought, as well as stability.
Readers who love family-rich stories will fall in love with the Donovans. They are sure to find Jamie and Fallon's romance interesting.
Other: I highly recommend this entire series of books. I have enjoyed every single one of them. I look forward to reading Patrick and Marissa's story. (The preview was great!)

Prepare to get lost in love with a charming playboy and the surprising twists that bring him to his knees. Charm Me bursts the heart wide open with sassy dialogue and delightful characters. Chase is sure to leave a lasting impression on more than just the senses.
I loved reading Charm Me. It is a great romance story about childhood rivals that start to see each other in a new light. I like that Jamie sees a side of Fallon that she doesn't even see in herself. boy oh boy is Jamie pigheaded. He gets an idea and won't let it go or lesson to anyone's ideas. It is almost his downfall in this book. I would not want to get on his wrong side. You'd be out of his life forever. Fallon has a couple of pity moments for herself that are short lived. Other than that this love story is almost perfect.
I wanted to like this book more. I enjoy the enemies-to-lovers and surprise baby tropes, but the hero, Jamie, was irritating, not charming. He uses women and seems to think it’s fine if he tells them ahead of time that he just wants sex. He broke it off with his latest girlfriend and then ignored all her texts telling him that they had to talk. Of course, we know what she wanted to talk about. Then she drops off a newborn baby on his doorstep and disappears for a few weeks.
He freaks out and ends up hiring his childhood nemesis, Fallon, to be the baby’s nanny. She turns out to have mad skills in taking care of a newborn and soon their childhood enmity becomes a love affair. Then the baby’s mother shows up with a believable, sad story to explain her conduct, but Jamie reacts with his typical immaturity and ticks off everyone, myself included.
Then everything gets resolved just as we knew it would.
One last complaint (Spoiler alert): Fallon decides to take over a failing daycare center in their town and do a bunch of reconstruction to reopen it. That’s fine, but there was no mention of what happened to the families who had been depending on that day care in a town that we’re told had no other day care options. For such a supposedly sensitive and caring person, that seemed like something Fallon would have cared about.
I voluntarily reviewed an advanced reader copy of this book that I received from Netgalley; however, the opinions are my own and I did not receive any compensation for my review.
Charm Me is an enemies to lovers, surprise baby, close proximity romance that is a quick and easy read.
Jamie is thrilled to finally be in charge of his families pub, while his parents are on a long vacation. He has plans for some changes at the pub he hopes to be fully in charge of one day. His life is turned upside down when the last woman he was involved with leaves a three week old baby on his doorstep, saying it is his. His family, as Donovans do, gather together to help problem solve. Enter his old nemesis, Fallon. She is currently unemployed, and the perfect person to do some nannying for him while he figures out how to juggle his job and a new baby. Fallon and Jamie start to see different sides from each other, while Jamie realizes he may have had feelings for Fallon long ago.
I found Jamie a bit immature. He is written as this aloof guy, hopping from the bed's of any women in town. I wasn't his biggest fan, and found myself downright frustrated with him at times. He said things that were mean, and did things that just didn't sit right. I do wish he had matured a bit more throughout the story. That said I didn't completely hate Jamie either. I think Samantha Chase wrote him in a way that made us love him, even if we hated some of the things he did.
I felt for Fallon, but I also felt we were missing a bit of her story. We know that she felt she had to go to school, and struggled with her previous two jobs, but never saw the intricacies of it.
I think that we just didn't get enough of a look into her as a person and the things that made her a whole person.
I did like what the author did with the baby's mom. She did some things that would have been easy to write her off, but I liked that there were complexities there which made me really think about what I would do in this situation.
I recommend this book, it can be read as a stand alone, or part of a series. Thank you to NetGalley and Valentine PR for a copy of this book. All opinions are 100% mine.
