I absolutely loved this book. Such a wonderful story.
What do you get when you take a confirm bachelor, his ten day old son he knew nothing about, and his childhood nemesis and mix them all together? A whole lot of crazy! The plot had everything - romance, family, bad decisions, and second chances. Highly recommend. I am already looking forward to the next book.

Charm Me is a cute enemies-to-lovers/ surprise baby romance that suffers a tiny bit because of a lovable but not likeable hero. I won't rehash the blurb except to offer a quick reminder that the surprise baby is Jamie's but not with Fallon.
At first, Fallon is a little hard to warm up to. When we meet her, she's fresh off her second firing in four months. But soon it becomes clear that she's going to be okay. Her ease with Jamie's newborn is admirable (if a little unbelievable, but that could just be sour grapes as I don't think I ever once successfully put either of my kids down for a nap), and the maturity with which she worked with Jamie is a relief. He's such an immature imp that if she'd said half of what was on her mind to him, they wouldn't have lasted a day.
I wanted to like Jamie and didn't precisely dislike him, but I do wish he'd matured a little bit more. That said, I do like an imperfect hero, and we get that in spades here. The reversal from enemies to lovers happens a little too easily and quickly, and honestly, I don't blame Fallon for not fully believing in it. Still, I did root for them.
I really appreciated the truths about the baby's mother. It would've been so easy to write her off as a bad mother who abandoned her kid, and I really liked that it was so much more complex. It does introduce some content warnings, however, which I'll add at the very end to avoid spoilers.
I do recommend this book (four in a series of five, I think, but one that stands alone just fine). Just don't expect a perfect hero.
I received a copy of this book for free from the publisher and Netgalley. I'm writing this review voluntarily, and it reflects my honest opinion.
Content warnings: Clinical depression and suicide attempt, but all in a secondary character's past
This book is about childhood rivals who grow up and still annoy each other. But when Jamie needs help and Fallon is the only one available to help, they quickly need to learn how to get along.
I think Jamie had some maturity issues and there were a couple times when I wasn’t his biggest fan. That’s really the only reason I gave it 3 stars. Because Samantha Chase is a solid writer, as always, so if he hadn’t been such a wanker, I would have given the book 4 stars 😜
Thanks to NetGalley for this ARC in exchange for my honest review. Watch for Charm Me to come out May 23, 2023!
Charm Me by Samantha Chase is book 4 in The Donovans series.
This was a fun read and one that I really enjoyed.
The characters are very relatable and so lovable, you’ll want nothing but the best for them.
I adored the connection and chemistry between Jamie and Fallon.
The storytelling in this book is captivating.
From the beginning I was sucked into the story and enjoyed every second of it.
I can’t wait for book 5 Kiss Me!

Charm Me continues Samantha Chase’s series about the Donovan family. With his parents on a long vacation, Jamie is thrilled to actually finally be in charge of the family’s pub. He has great plans for change never realizing that it’s his life that is about to change when the last girl he was involved with leaves a three week old baby on his doorstep with a note saying Asher is his. Then his sister calls the last person he could ever consider helpful to come assist…his old nemesis Fallon. This story is a little more serious and complicated than those that preceded it as Jaime and Fallon have a long history of competition and verbal put downs. This reader loved watching Jamie’s emotional growth as he bonded with his child and finally came to terms with what was truly important. And just because his matchmaking mother was out of town, series fans know that his siblings will be picking up Kate’s mantle. This is a delightful story. I voluntarily reviewed an advance copy of this book from NetGalley. Most highly recommend.
Jamie Donovan is dumbfounded when he opens his door and finds a baby- his baby- in a basket with a note for him. His playboy ways have caught up to him, and the breakup that his fling Jenn couldn't get over has left him with an unprecedented surprise. The Donovan family steps up to help him, and his sister enlists the help of his longtime arch-rival Fallon Murphy. While the two family frenemies have always bickered, Fallon helps Jamie learn how to take care of, and love, his son Asher.

I’ve loved all of the Donovans series from Samantha Chase and this one does not disappoint either!
Fallon and Jamie are long term enemies and their playful banter is delicious to read. Watching Jamie grow up throughout the book is really heartwarming. I also loved the way that Jenn’s arc played out, I thought the author did a great job of handling sensitive subjects with compassion.
sweet and cute read! new author for me and I definitely will be looking forward to reading other novels by her!
