As this isn't official or licenced, we miss out on all the things we'd want in a guide.. epic photography, behind the scenes, film score, in-depth story, timeline and character analysis.
The majority of this is less a guide and much more the author's commentary of opinions, "What works" and "What doesn't work", what she thinks of the actors and such.
This was a very informative guide for understanding the Marvel Cinematic Universe!
Jessica Mason did a fantastic job at making the information be understandable for someone getting into the MCU movies.
I enjoyed reading this as an avid MCU watcher.

This Binge Watchers Guide is doing exactly what it sets out to do. It is a guide for all of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, or better said all of the MCU's Infinity Saga, while also mentioning some other non-canon Marvel stuff as well.
The author is really a fan of the MCU - you can feel that in every word - but they're also critical, pointing out plot holes and things that don't work out so well. Being a huge Marvel fan myself, I know that plot holes and stuff don't really take from the fun that is the MCU.
The book explains lots of background on the MCU, put it in context, and then dives deep into every movie starting from Iron Man and ending with Endgame.
Each movie is analyzed via the same sections, giving a deep analysis of the plot and characters and spicing it up with trivia.
If you are thinking of diving into the MCU (and what a journey this will be!), this is the perfect book for you.
However, having already researched a lot of all the facts and fun stuff about the MCU myself, I did not find myself surprised very often, because a lot of what is written here I have already read somewhere on the Interwebs. It is great though to have everything now in one place, and I really enjoyed the authors view on different aspects of the MCU.
I gladly give it 4 out of 5 Stars and can recommend the book whole-heartedly.
Excelsior!
Thank you @netgalley and Riverdale Avenue Books for the eARC.
This is exactly what I wanted, plus a whole lot more. I've seen a few MCU movies, ("Iron Man", "Captain Marvel", "Black Panther"), but wanted to start at the beginning and watch all 23-ish movies in recommended order. You get a fine viewing order suggestion here, plus an amazing array of insights, sidelights, and context and continuity observations. I feel like I'm in the steady hands of an accomplished and knowledgeable fan. Just great.
