I received an ARC of this children's book from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
There's no plot to this book, but it is a quick way for children to learn about new animals. The pictures are great!
I honestly didn't expect too much from this, as I knew from the 'Cat' entry to the series it was serviceable and little more. We certainly get decent enough portraits of a lot of animals, from lynx to koala to flea to the titular hedgehog, but with just one line beneath that's part of a rhyming couplet. And that's not really enough to call this "rhymes for children" when it's only one poem with neither beginning nor end. Moreover, all told the insight into what said animals actually like is a bit slim at the best of times. It's a perfectly pleasant diversion – for all of five minutes, and then we're on to something better. Three stars for a book that really shows how the verdict "it's fine" can be damning with faint praise.
Really cute little picture book for children. The sentences are short, but nice. Thank you for sending me this e-ARC.
I received a copy of this book through Netgalley. This is my honest review.
This is a rhyming "story" featuring various animals. Each page is very short, only one sentence long, so it's a nice quick read if that's what you're looking for. It's definitely a short, quick way to familiarize young kids with an assortment of animals. But there's not really a plot per say, which is why I put story in quotes earlier.
The illustrations had a soft, wispy feeling to them. They were also fairly minimalist, focusing on the animals themselves without a lot of background activity. Overall I give this book 3.17 out of 5 stars.
I accessed a digital review copy of this book from the publisher.
By the same author as What Cat Likes Best, this book follows the same format. There is a different animal on each page. They are from all over the world. The rhymes are basic and easy enough for early and pre-readers to enjoy. There is no overall theme to the book, the main thing that it has going for it is the art.
Erwin Moser is beloved in Germany for his beautiful artwork, and easy rhyming style of writing. It's easy to see why, when reading through "What Hedgehog Likes Best." While at first I expected the book to be more focused upon Hedgehog, it became quickly clear that this was just a delightful montage of animals with little rhymes attached to each description.
The artwork is beautiful, with a watercolor ease of flow and comforting colors. The rhymes, likewise, roll off the tongue with ease. I could see this book being a bedtime favorite for any young children, and easily help them learn how to read and recognize the various animals.
A beautifully illustrated rhyming story that will delight Children of all ages.
Thank you to NetGalley and NorthSouth Books Inc for the opportunity to read an advance digital copy of this story that is due to publish on 04Apr2023. I was not obligated to provide a positive review.

This line resonates, ha!
What Hedgehog Likes Best is such a lovely little book filled with colourful illustrations of animals and all the things they do and places they go. The rhymes are fun and it’s a fast and cute read!
Thank you to Netgalley for the E-ARC of this book.
What Hedgehog Likes Best is the third in the rhyming series by Erwin Moser but the first book that we've read. It was very simplistic in its rhymes but the illustrations were very cute. I don't recall actually being told what hedgehog liked best but the worm in his little apple house was super adorable!
This soothing rhyming book is a perfect bedtime story. It lends itself to a snuggle-down-fun-read that I'm positive toddlers and younger children will enjoy.
The colourful illustrations are beautifully done and the verses/words are simple enough for a beginning reader to tackle. The diverse animals created are adorable.
Also in the series:
* What Cat Like Best
* What Bear Likes Best
I love the gentle engaging book and I highly recommend it.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the eARC! The rhyming throughout the book is fun, and could have readers guessing what the rhyme would be. A fun read for any young animal lover for sure!
I love a rhyming book. This book is clever with such a range of animals and thought through rhyming. I can just see children joining in with the rhyme. A fantastic poetry book!
What Hedgehog Likes Best is the third book in the Likes Best series. It's a picture book with rhymes and it just exudes cuteness. Though I didn't like this book as much as the prior book, What Cat Likes Best, it is still a fun book to read to preschoolers.
The illustrations are adorable and I could not help but smile throughout reading this book. Four adorable stars.
Thank you NorthSouth Books for the ARC. The review herein is completely my own and contains my honest thoughts and opinions.

A calming, soothing book with sweet illustrations and easy to follow rhymes on each page. We really loved this book at bedtime, and the cadence of the rhymes felt sing-songy and perfect for lulling a child to sleep. The illustrations were simple but well done. Very enjoyable picture book. Thank you to NetGalley for this ARC!
Cute bed time story to read with your little ones. My daughter was interacting while reading and pointing out all the different animals.
