•this book was so damn cute. it follows two best friends who are secretly crushing on each other. they have one big task to do- plan a wedding that you want to stop. and following this task is no easy thing as Carter and Sam can't keep their feelings hidden anymore!

• i ove the plot. i love the characters. I love the chemistry between them. and I even like the way the narrations were done. but I've also realised that audiobooks are not really my thing so I think l'll be passing on those henceforth.

•but a good book! definitely recommend!

This is the comedy that you didn't know you needed! I literally laughed out loud until I cried in places and sniffle-snorted in others. If you are looking for a lighthearted romantic comedy that is wrapped around some more serious issues, but in a delightful way then this is the book that you have been waiting for! The audio is outstanding as the narrators really bring the characters to life and you really feel the variety of emotions that they are going through! I absolutely hope that this is the beginning of a beautiful series as there is so much more to explore with the various characters in this story. Excellently plotted and fantastically entertaining makes this the must listen audio that you didn't know you needed!

"Samantha Quinn: Baseball lover. Plant mama. Eternal friend zone dweller. I know exactly three things: 1) My heart will forever belong to my best friend, Carter. 2) Carter's heart will never belong to me. 3) I will therefore die alone."

With those words I knew this was going to be for me. For one, we have friends to lovers, for two we have an incredibly sweet main character and then we have Carter who may be the sweetest, mushiest boy ever! Do I need to say more? If so then I will say that Gracie Ruth Mitchell wrote a sweet romance and the Eva Wilhelm and Brandon Utah were super adorable narrators.

This was a sweet and hilarious romance comedy. The characters worked my ever last nerve in the beginning. But I’m so glad they finally went with their gut. I really enjoyed this story. The narrator’s voice was perfect as well.

The main characters of this book are so self involved and tear down other people for their own self esteem I could not finish this book. I made it two hours in the book and the “pick me” nature of the female main character and the utter disdain I have for the male main character is immense. The trope is miscommunication and basically the derailment of the MC cousins wedding because they don’t approve of someone they e never officially met. To be fair he is terrible but instead of trying to help his cousin see the light the scheme instead putting her possible danger. This book is everything current romance should not be.

This is a cute book. the more Friends to lovers I read the more im hit or miss with them. Not my favorite trope.

This is about best friends who both like each other but are afraid to say anything or to ruin the friendship or thinking its one sided. They are helping plan his cousins shot gun wedding to the guy who got her pregnant but he SUCKS and shouldn't be marring him. So they agree to "help" but really they are trying to get her to see this is a bad idea. and of course the omg we should be together finally happens but in a strange way.

This is going to be a series and I will continue it and hopefully see good things with the cousin!

Thanks to netgalley for this audio arc in exchange for my honest review.

I loved this book the first time I read it and listening to the audiobook reminded me how much I loved this book. Of course, the storyline is great, but the narrators are also great. I was instantly sucked in to the story told by these voice actors and it made me love the book all over again.

This best friends to lovers audiobook was fantastic! The narrators were great in how they brought the story to life and brought their chemistry to life. I throughly enjoyed listening to this book as Samantha and Carter finally confess their feelings for one another all while trying to stop Carter’s cousin from marrying an a-hole.

This was a cute friend-to-lovers story.

It was nice listening to it on audiobook during a super busy week while I was driving and doing household chores.

Special thanks to Dreamscape Media and NetGalley for allowing me to listen to this book in exchange for my opinion.

Samantha loves her best friend Carter, but she KNOWs he doesn’t feel the same way. So Sam will probably die alone in the friend zone with her houseplants. Carter loves his best friend Sam, but he’s in serious denial. Carter would never fall in love, he refuses to fall in love. But now Sam and Carter are put in charge of planning Carter’s cousins wedding in a month and Carter wants to stop this wedding. Will the medaling of Sam’s 82 year old neighbour, Winifred, and planning a wedding together finally get Sam out of the friend zone and show Carter that love is not as painful as it seems?

Maid of Dishonor is a dual POV, friends-to-lovers, romcom book with no spice but implied spice.

This book was so stinking cute! I love a good friends-to-lovers, its such an easy read, especially when you need some cheering up or to brighten up a rainy day. Sam and Carter love each other, its pretty obvious and it seems the only people that don’t know they are in love with each other, is each other. Carter’s cousin, Maia is pregnant and set to marry Chet (I don’t care about his description, all I was picturing was Chet Hanks iykyk). Carter wants to sabotage the wedding, cause Chet sucks. I wish the ~drama~ surrounding the wedding lasted a little longer, with more pushback from Maia. The wedding plot was seal and shut pretty quickly.

I was a little nervous I wasn’t going to like Sam at the beginning of the story though. We get introduced to Sam and Carter, via Sam’s POV, at a diner where Carter is flirting with the waitress and Sam has some seriously negative thoughts about this woman, and a lot of negative thoughts about the waitresses boobs. Why do we need to belittle other women like this? And then later Sam has to prove to Carter that she has a “womanly” figure. Ick. But as we got to know Sam more and learn more about her anxieties it wasn't hard to love her.

Carter was a gem and was very supportive and protective of Sam and Maia. THE RUBBER BAND! PEACH SHAMPOO!! The one thing that I didn’t like was Carter’s treatment towards his ex Melissa, he basically gaslit the shit out of her. There are some great conversations about mental health, anxiety, fear, guilty and loss. All that being said that was such a wholesome, adorable feel-good story

This audiobook was so good! Eva Wilhelm and Brandon Utah did an excellent job keeping me engaged in the story. I find with some friends-to-lovers books it can be pretty predictable and boring. The joy of good audiobooks and excellent narrators is that they bring something else to the story. Thats the difference between great narrators and not so great narrators, they add an additional layer to a book and this is why I love audiobooks so much. Eva Wilhelm and Brandon Utah are great narrators.

Also Maia is getting her own book?! I NEED IT! and I NEED Maia’s HEA.

Thank you NetGalley and Dreamscape Media for an advanced audio copy for an honest review. I love you guys 💕

Arc review

Thank you NetGalley and the publisher for providing me a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

This was a fun read, but some parts of the storytelling felt incomplete or rushed. It was a fun premise but I don’t always love friends to lovers especially when it’s a slow burn! That said it was a cute easy read.

This was friends to lovers executed to perfection. The pining, the reasoning away feelings, the FINALLY not being able to stand not speaking up! And the added twist of trying to stop a terrible-idea-of-a-wedding from happening to their friend was awesome! There were so many little moments that added so much tension and the resolution was THE MOST satisfying.

I highly recommend the audio for this book, the actor for Carter was particularly satisfying 👌🏻

Thank you to netgalley for my ALC, all thoughts are my own.

This was a fun audio book to listen to. The narrators were great, The story was cute. I really enjoyed this one! Friends to lovers trying to sabotage a cousin’s wedding, while also having to go do all the wedding planning together without the cousin. Definitely sets it up for forced proximity and lots of time for sparks to fly. The author did a fantastic job writing an easy to read/listen to story, with lots of great lines that will make you laugh out loud, and characters with enough depth that you get pulled right in to the story. Definitely recommend this one to clean rom-com lovers everywhere!

Thank you to Netgalley, and the author for the advanced listener copy. All thoughts and opinions are my own and unbiased.

This is a case of bookstagram made me do it. I’ve been seeing this cover all over social media for awhile and decided to give it a try when I saw the audiobook available on NetGalley. I also enjoy a good friends to lovers trope. I found this to be a fun romcom filled with humor, angst, and a story line that definitely pulls you in.

Sam and Carter have been best friends since Jr. High and Sam has been in love with Carter since then. They do everything together, teach at the same school, play baseball together, and spend an inordinate amount of time with each other. But, Carter has one hang up, he never wants to get married even though he’s secretly in love with Sam. When Carter’s cousin Maya enlists his and Sam’s help in planning a wedding to her loser boyfriend, Carter and Sam plan to sabotage it while planning it at the same time.

I enjoyed how the narrators brought this story to life. They each captured the characters so well. Sam is a sensitive soul who treats her houseplants like pets and cries at the drop of a hat. Carter is a thoughtful best friend who’s always there to offer chocolate and support when Sam’s upset. Their inner monologues were hilarious and I enjoyed the way they finally get over their fears and admit what the reader sees the whole time, that they’re perfect for each other.

I had a hard time with the side story of Maya and Chet/Chad. The only reason Maya wants to marry Chet is because she’s pregnant. But, the dirtbag Chet wants an open marriage. I can understand Maya’s desperation, but I couldn’t agree with her choices. Sam and Carter instead of knocking some sense into Maya resort to strange wedding venues, tarot cards, and fake horoscopes to try to convince the superstitious Maya to dump Chet. While this scenario offers plenty of laughs, I just didn’t like this aspect of the story.

While there were laugh out loud moments, I found this book to be a little too crude for my taste. I don’t enjoy it when women talk so openly about their menstrual cycles with their guy friends. It just seems a little too personal and I don’t necessarily want to hear or read about it either. Sam’s also a little obsessed with Carter checking out other women’s assets so to speak and wanting him to check out her own.

The story did draw me in and I had to listen to the end to find out what happened. I’d definitely be willing to try another romcom by this author. I’d recommend it to true romcom fans who don’t mind mild innuendo, some crude humor, and a few mild swears. I’d consider it clean/closed door. I received an advanced audiobook copy from NetGalley. All opinions are completely my own and voluntarily given.

This friends to lovers romance was a cute story with a unique way the MCs get forced to evaluate and acknowledge their feelings, pushing past their insecurities and finally admitting to those feelings of true love. Carter had some genuine fears for not wanting to move out of the friend zone which I always appreciate when the road block to their love story feels believable and not contrived. Their chemistry was great and I loved the genuine friendship they were founded on.
The plot was unique with Carter trying to break up his cousin’s wedding while Sam is to be her maid of honor. I enjoyed the proximity and romantic settings it created for them and how it helped them in their own romantic journey.
The dual narration made for an easy and enjoyable read. I am glad the narrators changed with the different POVs since it helped me with the characters while listening.
I listened to the audiobook via an ALC from Dreamscape Media and Netgalley. I also purchased my own copy of the paperback. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

My Rating: 4/5 Stars

My Thoughts: Okay, full disclosure. I’m a total and complete sucker for a best friends-to-lovers romance! This sweet story by Gracie Ruth Mitchell did not disappoint. Samantha and Carter are best friends, but both are secretly pining for one another. However, both have issues with relationships that keep them from admitting their feelings. However, things get complicated when they share an unexpected kiss, amid trying to both help plan and sabotage Carter’s cousin Maya’s wedding. I loved how much Samantha and Carter cared for one another, and how well they knew each other. The friendship was very believable. The angst about them being together romantically was real… my only complaint (and it’s a small one) was that I usually like the kiss to happen later in the story. Make the reader work for it! Still, that’s just a personal preference. I also really enjoyed the audio, the narrators made me laugh out loud at times and it was a fun listen!

Thank you to NetGalley, Dreamscape Media and the author for an advanced copy of this audiobook!
