It opens up with a weird I’m not like other girls scene and he is not likeable yet, I can already tell that I’m going to find this boring and not going to like either of them but why I’m already calling it quits is bc there was a weird comment about how the cousin was attractive because she’s mixed
This was such a fun, light hearted friends to lovers RomCom. I started it on a Tuesday and had it finished by Wednesday night.
Sam is snarky, but has some quirks, including lots of crying. Carter is in denial about being in love. The way the story between the two unfolded was hilarious and entertaining. The pacing on this story was fantastic and the scenes Mitchell set up were fantastic.
If you're looking for a lighthearted, non-spicy read, definitely pick this one up. Looking forward to the next book in the series.
First in a series. This was just a humorous, fluff read. It got old having the characters go on and on about themselves not falling for each other when they both loved each other though.
I am not a fan of the “not like other girls” character, nor am I a fan of the “I’m one of the boys!” character. Unfortunately, this story combines both of those into its leading lady, and for that reason Maid of Dishonor just wasn’t for me.
I did finish the Audio ARC I received. For a novel with a wedding cake slapped on a the cover, there wasn’t much wedding at all in the story.
Not a fan of this one, to put it simply.
I received an eARC of the audiobook for this title in exchange for an honest review. I didn't realize until about 3 chapters in that it had already been published, but I also had never read it. So this review is two parts--reviewing the story, and reviewing the audiobook.
In terms of story with no spoilers, I like the plot and dynamic between the main characters. It's a very funny, light romcom with mild thematic events. Everything is realistic to life and completely relatable to many people's experiences. It was refreshing to read a clean romance! Gracie Ruth Mitchell executed the plan of the book very well.
In terms of the audiobook, I had to take off one star because the ARC only included 80% of the book. Maybe this is how it normally goes in terms of ARCs for an audiobook; this IS my first time gaining one (thank you!). However, I thought the book was ending on a cliffhanger. I did some digging and found a KU copy to finish reading the book. Otherwise, the audiobook is great! I definitely enjoyed the narrators. They bring such passion to the text, and I found myself laughing out loud at times (literally) while listening. I love a dual POV story and having the angst from both characters and both voices was *chef's kiss*. This is a reflection on excellent writing and gifted narrators. I know this sounds cliché, but it was as if the narrators had chemistry between them. That's how well they delivered the prose.
Overall, great story. Excellent writing style. Would definitely recommend the complete audiobook. Was slightly left hanging by the cut off and needing to find a digital copy to finish reading.
'Maid of Dishonor' is a friends to lovers romance. It's a clean story, and I feel like the chemistry between the two main characters was lacking. It was definitely a slow burn, but it felt too slow to me. I was hoping for more, but the story felt flat. I usually like a friends to lovers story, but this one was missing something.
I listened to the audiobook, and the narrators did a good job of conveying the voice of the characters. Even though the book isn't long, the story felt drawn out. I feel like not much happened in the story. I liked the main characters, Carter and Sam, and I appreciated their best friendship. I think that there could have been potential for them, but I don't think it was explored enough for me. I would like to see what happens after the book ends, and I plan to read the sequel books also.
Thanks to NetGalley and Dreamscape Media for an ALC of 'Maid of Dishonor.'

This was a clean and witty best friends to lovers book that was enjoyable. Two best friends are in love with each other and don’t share their feelings until they decide to prevent a wedding from happening. The banter and friendship was great, but it lacked spice….come on, after decades of carrying a friendship with both parties sharing feelings where’s the spice 😆🤷🏻♀️ Anyhow, it still was a fun read. I wish there was a bit more to the plot (mission: destroy the wedding) to add more fun to it…. I wanted more drama 🥴 The narration was perfect and in Dual POV. If you are looking for a quick, uplifting, and funny Rom-Com, this book will definitely be a great choice.

💫Thank you @netgalley and @dreamscape_media for this enjoyable read in exchange for an honest review.
Best friends team up to help break up a friend's doomed wedding not realizing they're both secretly in love with one another in this sweet, dual POV, kissing only romance. Full of heart and humor and some hilarious antics, this was an entertaining listen. I was a little confused by the ending, it seemed to just stop abruptly without a good resolution (maybe my copy was missing an epilogue?). Heads up for that but hopefully it was just an error. Otherwise this is perfect for fans of authors like Sarah Adams or Emma St. Clair. Many thanks to NetGalley and the author for my advance audio copy in exchange for my honest review!
Samantha and Carter have been best friends since they were children, There is no time they haven’t been in each others lives, couldn’t be closer and tell each other everything. Well almost everything. Neither is brave enough to tell the other their true feelings for each other. Their road to finally getting together was a bit predictable and found them both to be less mature than adults should have been. The narration did not add to the experience for me either. I might have enjoyed reading this one more.
Quick Summary: Delightfully sweet and extremely funny in the best way
My Review: Maid of Dishonor by Grace Ruth Mitchell was an entirely humorous rom-com about besties who caught feelings for each other. I absolutely loved it! The lead characters were refreshing and the seniors were a hoot and a holler. I'm still laughing at their antics. Even with the jokes and playfulness, there was still an aspect of seriousness embedded in the story.
My Final Say: This was a worthy read. Readers who enjoy a little comedy with their romance will fall to their knees with this cute love story. With that said, be ready to write your own ending. (That's all I'll say.) Happy reading!
