Charolette has always wanted to be on a game show and finally her dreams are coming true. Nothing could ruin this moment, well except maybe being teamed up with her old high school beau, Eli, who left her heartbroken. They both need the money so are determined to put their past aside and make this opportunity count. As they spend more time together old wounds seem to heal, until production throws them a curveball that could ruin everything.
This is the second book I’ve read of Kelly’s and as always she delivers on a punny title and adorable cover. Not only that but she again has managed to come up with a unique and compelling premise for a romance. I absolutely adored the idea of a game show bringing high school lovers back together for a second chance. The trivia sprinkled throughout the book was a charming touch as well.
What I didn’t love was how the story didn’t live up to its potential because the drama felt too forced. It felt manufactured just to set up the third act break up. Instead of being so intent on creating tension I wish we had gotten more time devoted to their relationship (past and current). With claims that neither had been able to move on from their high school falling out (which happened 12 years ago) I would have liked to get more background and flashbacks from their relationship back then. And since this is a romance I wish more time had been dedicated to their current rekindling. The cutest parts of the book were them spending time together studying and touring the city.
To sum it up, this was an overall decent romance that could have been great if it hadn’t tried so hard to make drama that in the end just distracted from the amazing premise.
Thank you Alcove Press and Netgalley for my review copies.

Loved the dual point of view! Funny, heartfelt, second chance romance that was a joy to read!
Add in the quiz show element and this was a very fun romance to read!

Let’s Get Quizzical by Kelly Ohlert
⭐️⭐️⭐️
Let’s Get Quizzical follows Charlotte and Eli in this second chance romance that takes place on a trivia game show. Charlotte and Eli dated in high school but went their separate ways, and they meet again when they both make it as contestants on their favorite game show.
While the premise is definitely unique, this felt pretty predictable at times and a little insta-love-y. The book does explore some complicated family issues that both main characters are facing, but I wish just as much attention had been paid to exploring the relationship between Charlotte and Eli.
Overall though, this was a fun and easy read with a cute premise! This would be a great add to your TBR if you love game shows, reality tv, or stories set in Los Angeles!
Thank you to @netgalley for the ebook arc!

I love game shows, which is part of the reason this book initially stuck out to me. The main character who grew up watching the Game Network with her grandma? That was also me. So I was extremely disappointed when I realized I was going to like this book. Something I did enjoy the fun facts sprinkled throughout the book. A few of the facts felt a little random, but most of them connected to whatever was going on at the time.
Sadly, the one thing I could not get past was something that came up multiple times. I hated that the main character let something that happened 12 years ago (when they were in high school) affect all of her decisions with Eli. I’ve been out of high school for 10 years now (oh wow), and I know I am a completely different person than I was then. Maybe it’s just a me thing, but it made it so much harder to root for them as a couple because it felt doomed from the beginning.

This was a cute second chance romance. I loved the game show setting. I think that it could have been a little more descriptive in things, but overall,I really enjoyed it.

Thank you to Netgalley and Alcove Press for the eARC! I'm a sucker for a forced proximity romance, throw in the game show setting and I was sold. This was quirky and fun and had the second chance romance trope as well. I wasn't super connected to the characters and the romance wasn't fully sold to me, but this was a quick read with some humorous moments.

A quick, fun, second chance romance! I was intrigued by the cover and thought it was so fun that the story was focused around a gameshow! I loved the forced proximity of them being paired together on the show. Overall was a fun read and I'll read more of Kelly's books in the future!

I love a good second chance romance, and I really liked the premise here! I don't think I've ever read a game show romance, and as a trivia nut, this was super fun. I also enjoyed the tiny mystery element. Will be picking up more Kelly Ohlert in the future.

Finally got around to reading this one as my library bought a copy. A very quick and fun romance read from a new to me author. I look forward to reading more Kelly Ohlert in the future.
Thank you to netgalley and the publishers for bringing this to my attention.

Let's Get Quizzical was a book that sounded like it was right up my alley. A second chance romance that included our main characters participating on a trivia show? Sign me up! Unfortunately, this one didn't work out like I was hoping.
This book started off really strong. I loved learning more about Charlotte and Eli. Both of them had reasons to participate on this show and I loved that both of them wanted to do it for family. Both of their families seemed really sweet and I enjoyed the scenes with them in it. Neither of them expected to end up on a team together, but if they wanted the chance at the money they had to keep going.
I completely understand why Charlotte had a hard time trusting Eli, because what happened between them was definitely hurtful. That being said, she did bug me a bit. Of course, Eli had to earn back her trust, but it constantly seemed like if he didn't think her way on all things that he couldn't be trusted. I just didn't like how that felt. I did love seeing them get to know each other all over again and wanting to be around each other. There were a few spicy scenes that the author did well!
Also, I loved that even though we weren't constantly at the set of the trivia show, we did get some random trivia throughout the book. I thought that was a nice touch. I definitely learned some things that I didn't know. The ending felt a little bit rushed, but I enjoyed how the author wrapped it all up at the end.

Quick Summary: An intense win, lose, or draw romance
My Review: Let’s Get Quizzical by Kelly Ohlert is a standalone romance from Alcove Press. It is a fast-paced, contemporary novel centered around a game show and a second chance relationship.
About the Book: Charlotte and Eli were once young and in love. When he betrayed her and left her without any explanation whatsoever, she vowed not to be so trusting ever again. Who knew that a game show competition would bring them back together? Unfortunately, the same issues related to love, honor, and integrity crept up again.
My Final Say: This was a really creative rom-com. It was humorous, but it also had a touch of drama. I quite enjoyed reading it.

Thank you to the author, to the publisher (Alcove Press), and to NetGalley for granting access to this title in exchange for an honest review.

Such a cute book reminding me of family feud mixed with modern day game show! This was a quick, easy romcom read! I struggled to get behind Charlie’s black and white view on lying and the judgmental nature it made her have (even with explanation as to why, that’s what therapy is for!) but overall it was a fun sweet story about second chances with a dramatic subplot and a nasty television producer. Both Eli and Charlotte have their stuff they need to work through to get their happily ever after and it was nice to watch each of them grow by the end of the book!

I love a game show so I was really excited for a rom com that centers around a second chance romance and a quiz show, however this one just did not do it for me. I thought the characters were fine but even after the entire book, I do not feel like I know them at all outside of their family struggles and the reason they need money. Who are these people? What are their likes and dislikes? Are they able to exist without the family troubles? I dont know really and that is what bothered me, it was hard to feel their connection and watch it grow into something I wanted to root for.

Thank you NetGalley for the ARC for this book.
This was a quick and fun read and while I didn't loved it it was still quite enjoyable.
I'm a sucker for second chance romances with forced proximity and this one delivered that.
I'm genuielly interested in reading more books from the author.

Cute. Second chance love story. Loved all the quiz facts throughout. You can tell the character has a passion for the game and the knowledge. I was rooting for Eli.

I'm a big fan of second chance romance. I thought Charlotte and Eli were a cute couple, Anna I really liked the quiz show aspect of the novel, a fresh twist in the second chance trope. They're HEA was was a sweet reward for reading.

This is ideal for fans of The Ex Talk!! Let’s Get Quizzical is a romantic comedy you don’t want to miss out on. I enjoyed every minute of this.

This book is romcomish, it’s funny when it has to be funny, it’s romantic when it has to be romantic, it has two characters clearly well identified as characters, they have their personality and some people took time to find the mmc charming but I got him from the start
