This was a hard one to put down! From the very beginning, Miranda Smith has you hooked. My mind was reeling trying to figure out who could have taken the child and what their motives were. I think that the characters could have used a bit more development but I did like the way the author threw the reader right into the story. Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for this ARC in exchange for an honest review.
I found that this was a tense, gripping thriller about every parent's worst nightmare, I liked the fact that there were chapters from the killers POV, it made it feel claustrophobic and edgy and I couldn’t fully settle till I reached the final page. I love the author’s writing style. it is so easy to read. I love the short chapters that are used as cliffhangers meaning you read just one more and before you know you will be at the end. Highly recommend I will definitely read more Miranda Smith.
A good story kept me turning the pages but I was not gripped or on the edge of my seat. It’s definitely worth a read though!
Review of "The School Trip" by Miranda Smith
⭐️⭐️⭐️
Miranda Smith's "The School Trip" is a tense psychological thriller that explores the dark undercurrents beneath a seemingly innocent outing. While the premise is promising, with its mix of suspense and complex relationships, the execution falls somewhat short of expectations.
The story centers around a group of students and teachers on a school trip to a remote cabin in the woods. As tensions simmer and secrets unravel, the narrative builds towards a gripping climax filled with twists and revelations. Smith adeptly portrays the dynamics between the characters, highlighting their vulnerabilities and hidden agendas.
However, the plot suffers from pacing issues, particularly in the middle where the suspense wanes. Some twists are telegraphed early on, diminishing their impact. Despite these shortcomings, the novel succeeds in creating a claustrophobic atmosphere and a sense of impending danger.
Overall, "The School Trip" offers a decent dose of suspense and psychological intrigue, making it a solid choice for fans of the genre, many thanks to Netgalley for hte ARC in exchange for the honest review.

Smith's writing is taut and atmospheric, drawing readers into the heart of the mystery from the very first page. The remote wilderness setting adds an extra layer of tension to the narrative, as the characters find themselves isolated and vulnerable, surrounded by the unknown.

I love thrillers. I love an unexpected twist. I love when I don't figure out the ending before the 50% mark. This one kept me guessing until the end, which is rare for me. I can't wait to read more from this author in the future.
While I found this book a little slow to start and I was initially being disappointed after they found Katy thinking “that’s it?!”, I found that as I kept reading this book was fabulous! Twisty, unpredictable and suspenseful, it kept me guessing until the end.

This book is every parent's nightmare. Emma's daughter, Claire, has gone missing on a school trip. This book follows Emma as she races to find her missing daughter. Read this and then keep your children close!
I was lucky to receive an advance copy of The School Trip by Miranda Smith from NetGalley and the publisher in exchange for my honest review and opinion. I read this book in one night as it's just that great of a read ! Lots of twists and turns that will keep you turning the pages as fast as you can so you can find out what is going to happen next. So good and you will be shocked at the ending.
Read in one sitting I was absolutely gripped. Twisty and fast paced, full of tension and suspense, I loved it
A school trip with a class of six-year-olds to a farm should be a fun time for all.
Emma is a teacher on the trip but she is also the mother of one of the children. When she last saw her daughter, Claire, she was having fun with her friends, but when it was time to go home Emma could not find Claire, she had vanished, where was she?
This set my anxiety through the roof, I think it is every parent’s worst nightmare that their child disappears on a school trip. I was hooked because I was hoping and praying that Claire would be found safe and well, and I wanted to know who would do such an awful thing.
Miranda Smith certainly knows how to pull you into her books; it was emotional for me being a parent to a child almost the same age as Claire. I was on a book hangover for days afterwards.
Fast, intense, and impossible to put down—perfect for thriller fans. This was defo my cup of tea and more and I can’t wait for more…
