This series continues to be so wholesome and cute. It’s definitely the closest to giving Gilmore Girls vibes out of all the small town books I’ve read. I thought both characters were incredibly dynamic and I enjoyed watching them together immensely. I thought Caleb was one of the sweetest men I’ve ever read about. However, as much as I wanted to adore Layla, there were things that she did and said that were just too mean towards the end, and it changed my opinion of her. The sunshine/sunshine trope is never one I usually go for, but BK Borison managed to make me enjoy this one thoroughly!
I keep falling in love with B.K. Borison's writing and stories. I loved getting to meet Layla and Caleb. I couldn't get enough of this small town romance. Definitely recommend picking this book up right after Lovelight Farms!
This book and its characters are so much fun. Layla owns the local bakery and she’s tired of dating guys who are losers. When she meets Caleb, he proposes a month of no-strings dating where he’s going to prove to her that he’s a decent guy. It’s a great premise. Don’t read this book if you’re hungry, the descriptions of the treats at the bakery will have you drooling all over your book!
Thanks to the publisher and NetGalley, I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are my own.
I love small-town romance and this cover did everything for me. I love it so much! I will definitely read more by Borison since this was such an easy and fun read.
I have been excited to Layla's story since I read the first book of this series - and this book really delivered. I'm so glad this was a dual POV book - getting Caleb and Layla's points of view helped to really round the narrative out. Caleb was too sweet - he wanted any piece of Layla he could get and fell so hard and fast for her. Layla, on the other hand, was a complicated and layered character - she was learning how to open up and how to let people in after a string of bad dating experiences. The two of them together were especially cute - reading about them both falling hard while under the pretenses of their practice dating arrangement had me kicking my feet and giggling! I loved these two together and will definitely be rereading this in the future.
Thank you to NetGalley and Berkley for the ARC in exchange for an honest review

Gosh I'm pretty sure BK baked in some of Layla's baked goods for how sweet and tender this book was. This series is just small town romance perfection. Watching Caleb and Layla fumble through falling in love, slowly, not perfectly but true to themselves just felt real and authentic.
I absolutely love this series and these characters. B.K. Borison is becoming a fave of mine. I loved the small town romance centered around the bakery. Friends to lovers/fake dating trope.
B.K. Borison is making her way into becoming a favorite author of mine. The way she writes love and intimacy is unparalleled. It feels like every character has such an emotional connection with one another that transcends anything else. Loved it!
Okay, I wanted to live at Lovelight Farms right from the start of book one, but Mixed Signals totally had me packing my bags. The whole little community of Inglewild has held a piece of my heart throughout this series, and this sweet story definitely solidified my wanting to move there. I fell head over heels for Layla Dupree and Caleb Alvarez and their awkwardly sweet romance. Layla's deliciously described baked sweet treats had me longing for shortbread cookies. Caleb's kind, gentle nature had me swooning. This story was loaded with all the good stuff. It had fake dating, but was it truly fake dating? It had hilarious roller skating and escape room dating disasters that had me laughing out loud. Throw in the sizzling, hot, spicy scenes. (Oh, that kiss in the rain. Whew!) and it was romance novel perfection! Caleb and Layla's romance was magical from beginning to end, and their story left me smiling from ear to ear. Mixed Signals is a book that romance lovers do not want to miss!
This cover art style on the cover is so beautiful and captured my attention right away, knowing nothing about what the book was about, other than I knew many book friends who loved this story, so I was excited to read it!
MIXED SIGNALS is the third book in the Lovelight series, and it was a delight to read. I loved that it was both spicy and sweet, with the friends to lovers and fake dating tropes I love so much. The story follows Caleb and Layla who end up fake dating in their small town.
WHAT TO EXPECT
-friends to lovers
-fake dating
-part of a series
-small town romance
-bakery/food
*many thanks to Netgalley and Berkley for the gifted copy for review
Sugary, sweet, and SPICY hot. This has definitely been my favorite of B. K. Borrison's books. Caleb and Layla are sweet! I especially enjoyed how refined Caleb was, and genuinely think that Borrison does such a good job of writing an unapologetically romantic small-town romance. Again, I didn't *love* the conflict or feel like the ending was as satisfactory as it could've been, but I'm happy enough that these characters finally found their happiness and home together.

This is the third book in the Lovelight series and I’m absolutely obsessed with this series. These characters are extremely likable and enjoyable to read about.
This one is a friends-to-lovers with a sunshine/sunshine trope, it’s so difficult not feeling a connection towards these characters. Layla, a baker, and Caleb, a former deputy but is now a high school teacher, end up fake dating to be able to critique each other for future dates.
This was such a sweet and steamy romance. I have fallen in love with this author’s writing and can’t wait to read the next book in this series. Highly recommend picking this up (and the previous two books as well).
Thank you so much NetGalley and Berkley for the review copy in exchange for my honest review!
•𝗧𝗪/𝗖𝗪: Sexual Content, Abandonment, Cursing, Toxic Relationship, Misogyny, Sexism
"Why are you settling for crumbs when you deserve the whole damn cake?" I am Layla. I am attacked. I should backtrack. Layla is a black cat. Caleb is very much a golden retriever. They both make terrible dating decisions. I'm not really a baker, as I hate measuring, and cooking, but everything else about Layla hit me in the feels. Specifically, the sex related stuff. Caleb's Latinx family is very much my Asian one. I also want a croissant tattoo.
This book was sooo cute!! Oh my goodness, I absolutely devoured Layla’s and Caleb’s story and I can’t stop smiling! Caleb was so dreamy and I loved being back at Lovelight Farms!
Indie authors turned traditional are amazing. I’ll read anything by BK! This series is amazing. Love the small town charm.
This was very much a will-they won't-they story and I really enjoyed watching the characters come together.
Thank you to netgalley and the publishers for providing me with an arc for an honest review.
✔️ Teach Me How to Date
✔️ Cinnamon Roll MMC
✔️ He Fell First
✔️ Small Town
Layla thinks that love is not in the cards for her after a failed relationship and a string of terrible dates. Everyone thinks she is just picking the wrong guys but she thinks it's something about her. Caleb has the opposite problem: he goes out on dates with nice people but it doesn't turn into more. Good things these two worked up a deal where he can show her a good time while she gives him feedback on his dating skills. Only thing that could go wrong is developing feelings 😆
I loved all the longing in this book. It felt so raw and real, how much these two wanted happiness and wanted each other but couldn't find the words (or courage) to say so.
Their fun dates where not everything goes right made me giggle and I loved how they both rolled with it.
While there was a coziness to the storytelling in this book, it had some terrific steamy scenes. You know that last scene in Bridget Jones where she says "Nice guys don't kiss like that" and Mark Darcy responds "Oh yes they f#!$ing do" - that's the vibe of the love scenes.
It's 5⭐️ - I adored and had to buy my own physical copy. Highly recommend!

PLOT -
This is Laylas story. Layla who has given up on love even though she is successful in her bakery. After seeing Layla go through another bad date Caleb presents a simple proposition one month of no string dating to renew her faith in men and Caleb gets his romantic game up a perfect win win situation for both. But one thing they didn't consider their next level chemistry and comfort with each other.
MY THOUGHTS
I honestly had to wait to read as I was hell bent on reading Beckett s story first..which I did and immediately got to this..hence the delay
But it was worth the wait. The dates between Caleb and Layla were just too cute and had so much fun reading it. Also the small town charm which we see throughout the series works well too here also. ( Beatrice was a star)
A perfect binge worthy series to enjoy during the upcoming holiday season.
this was probably my least favorite of the series so far, but that barely says anything because this one was WAY too cute to be legal!!! I’m talking cut the cheese with a knife, heart full of pastries and cakes cute 🥹🩷
layla has constantly been one of my favorite characters from this series, so to say I’ve been anxiously awaiting her story was an understatement. and I’m so sad that it didn’t live up to the hype for me!! 😭
for me, the fake dating plot didn’t work, especially since it was doused in miscommunication. if layla and caleb had spent 5 minutes talking about their true feelings instead of relying on their “arrangement” - this book would be 15 pages long … and it suspiciously felt like a repeat of stella and luka’s fake dating story. even when stella picks up on the similarities later, it was 😴🥴🫠 it was super copy and paste
however, caleb’s family and beatrice really stole the story for me. I was obsessed with the no nonsense abuela and the way beatrice was revealed to be a softie in the end 🥹
overall, a quick and easy romcom to cleanse my palate! thank you to berkley and netgalley for the advanced copy in exchange for an honest review!!
