I feel a little bamboozled. I was expecting a mystery/thriller, but I got a cozy mystery. This was definitely advertised wrong.
Nicola and Millie...friends forever...really? Whitecliff Bay's residents have no idea what is going on. Murder and mayhem...mystery and intrigue. One girl disappears and...Red herrings abound. I enjoyed this book. This is the second in a series, written by a talented author. Netgalley sent me this book electronically for review. Thanks to the publisher and the author. I enjoyed going back to the Bay and getting to know more of the residents.
While this mystery is a little bit different in the way it all plays out, I really enjoyed seeing Millie kind of come into her own investigating cases. In this book, her ex-best friend Nicola calls Millie out of the blue, and gives tells her that she found the shoes from when she was kidnapped like 20 years ago. Even though Millie hasn't spoken to Nic in years she finds herself reconnecting with her to help her figure out who would have left the shoes, and who might have been behind what happened to her that summer. I love that Millie is finally getting some new/old friends after all the crap she went through with her parent's death, and what her butthole ex-husband and his new fiance are trying to pull now. I really hope that Alex gets what coming in the next book or the near future.
Between the writing, the characters, and wanting to see exactly how this mystery is going to be solved, I flew this and read it in just a few hours. I'm excited that I can jump right into the third book. The little snippet we get at the end of this book was super intriguing, and I can't wait to dive in.
So out of the three new books by Kerry listed. this was the only one that sounded good to me. It was good. I didn't think it was great, but it kept my attention. Part of me is curious what other adventures Millie has, but I don't think this book hit it out of the park enough for me to look for the others. That being said, I enjoyed the characters and the mystery that went along with finding out what happened to Nicola all those years ago. Surprising ending.
Book 2 in the series was a good read… In the small town of Whitecliff, people have long memories – but Millie is the only one who can help get answers. And, as she asks questions of their school friends, she realises one of them knows more than they should about her own family secrets…
It had suspense, intrigue, and a sort of who done it! The storyline was very interesting and flowed nicely! I will definitely recommend reading this one! It was well worth reading! Thank you Netgalley and the publisher for sharing this book with me! Now onto book3!
Well its a bit better than the first book, in like the characters! It had light suspense, a little action, intrigue, mystery, and a few twists and turns! The storyline was pretty interesting and flowed nicely! I would day if you like light suspense mystery books this ones for you! I do like a lot more action and angst! Its worth reading but just ok for me! Thank you Netgalley and the publisher for sharing this book with me!
Heart pounding thriller that left me on the edge of my seat. I thoroughly enjoyed reading this one. Definitely one of the best books this year.
