The search for a long-lost cemetery deep in the woods leads to the discovery of a body. The search is on to figure out who killed the well-to-do neighbor who happens to live in one of the McMansions in Meg’s neighborhood. Meg is busy trying to keep the peace between the McMansion dwellers and the farm folks, find a murderer, a bee killer, and figure out what’s not quite right about the nosy magazine reporter hounding her grandmother.

A fun whodunit with greed, murder, blackmail, bees and hummingbirds, secrets, and more!

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

I love Bees, Poms and Hummingbirds, so this one was not only a great mystery, it was super cozy and made my heart happy all at the same time. I adore Meg and the gang, who are always there to help and add to the story,. Each book in the series has been fantastic and provides a great mystery full of red herrings and will keep you guessing whodunit until the end.

I love this series, but must admit this one didn't feel as strong as the others. Might just be me. Figured out the killer pretty quick, and had some questions of why throughout. Also wished more of Meg's kids and husband would have been there, plus more of her family. Still enjoyed it, and would recommend.

Birder, She Wrote by Donna Andrews
Book 33 in the Meg Langslow series
When I was offered an ARC by the publisher I jumped on it with both feet. I have loved this series from the beginning and I still say the same about this one. I also liked the play on Murder She Wrote for the title.
I agree with the reviewer who said this one is more Meg-centric than some of the others. I enjoy the huge circle of family and friends but sometimes they get in the way. This one was just right, some of everybody else but mostly Meg.
Birds and bees, blackmail and murder. What more could you want?
The only thing I’m sad about is that when this book comes out in August I will have already read it. But maybe I will listen to the audiobook anyway.
Thanks to NetGalley.

Meg is planning on having a lovely afternoon searching for an old graveyard with her cousin, grandmother, and a neighbor when they find a dead body. Walter was a NIMBY one of those people who must complain about everything and hates the fact his property abuts a farm. It's no wonder someone wanted him dead. Meg has to find out if it was her father's friend Edgar? One of Walter's neighbors? Or was is someone else entirely.
Ms. Andrews is a great author, her books have humor and a great sense of place. I can just imagine what Caerphilly county looks like, and I would like to think Meg would make a great friend. That said her mysteries are well done, though some make it easy for the reader to discover who did the crime, this is not one of them! I do recommend you read them in order, but if you do try it you won't be too lost. A great addition to the series.

It pains me to say that this once wonderful series may be coming to an end. The same great cast of characters still inhabits Birder, She Wrote but the storyline just feels tired

Satisfying

I've pretty much given up reading mystery series books, especially cozy ones but Donna Andrews' "Meg Langslow" series is in a class of its own. Meg is smart, she's capable, she and the rest of the cast of characters have grown and changed since the series began, which I enjoy-- people aren't static. I like this series so much that I have gone back and started rereading them from the beginning. This newest one is no different --it's fun, clever and the regular characters are all present. I will say that it seems more Meg-centered, which sounds odd as she is always the protagonist, but that's how it strikes me. At any rate, I enjoyed it immensely. ( I actually put aside another book by a pair of authors that I usually love in order to read Birder, She Wrote. ) Having read the entire series is not required for enjoyment, but you might want to pick up one or two just to get in step. If you think you're tired of cozies, check out Meg Langslow. She and her family are so much fun.

My thanks to Ms. Andrews, her publisher and NetGalley for making this advance copy available to me. I was thrilled to receive it.

I’ll start by saying how happy I was to receive an advance copy of Donna Andrews latest book in her Meg Lanslow series from NetGalley and Minotaur Books. I needed all of my willpower to resist jumping right into reading it instead of finishing the library book I was three quarters of the way through with. My patience was rewarded with another smartly written story told to us in Meg’s voice. Meg is tasked, as an aide to the mayor, with calming some members of a local gated community who are always having issues with the neighboring farmers. She delays it long enough to go on an expedition with her grandmother and others through the forest to look for an old, almost forgotten African American graveyard, but they no sooner find it than they stumble across a newly dead body too. The mystery takes off from there, full of potential suspects, bees, Pomeranians, and hummingbirds, along with the revolving crew of family and friends who always have Meg’s back. This is such a well written series, I highly recommend it to anyone who enjoys an intelligent heroine, funny moments, great dialogue and well written characters. Thanks to NetGalley and Minotaur for giving me the chance to read it, and to Donna Andrews for creating Meg and her world for us to share.

The Langslow clan are getting into beekeeping, while Grandma Cordelia is being followed by an annoying magazine reporter writing an article about her artist colony and other accomplishments. Meanwhile, both the beekeeping expert and the town's weird complainer are missing. One of them is found dead and the other wounded. The town's mayor asks Meg to run interference with the other complainers after a bunch of beehives are exterminated. It's all very confusing for a while. I wasn't sure of the killer, but there was so much going on. It was still a fun read.
I received an ARC copy in exchange of an honest opinion.

MS Andrews is one of my favorite authors. I so look forward to reading any new book that is released.

This book did not disappoint. I love the bird twist to each of her books. I also love the extended family characters she has in each of her books. Every character has it own quirk and place in her world.

Birder, She Wrote is a clever title for this newest addition by Donna Andrew's.
Meg has a busy life, and when the NIMBY's continue to complain about all the activity in their neighborhood, Meg is called on to calm everyone down.
Cordelia, Meg's grandmother, has asked for help locating a dear friends family cemetery, but what they discover is not quite what they were expecting.

This book was a page turner, I loved the story and the mystery really kept me guessing.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for selecting me to read an advanced copy of this book.
I highly recommend this book and all the others in this quirky series.

Birder. She Wrote, is a wonderful addition to the Meg Lanslow mystery series. This one involves Hummingbirds, Bee hives, blackmail, and murder. There are lots of red herrings and some laugh-out-loud moments with some of Meg's quirky relatives. I absolutely love this series and was happy to be given an advanced readers copy to review. Many thanks to netgalley and Minotaur Books.

The worst thing about getting a new Donna Andrews book is finishing it and having to wait for the next one. Birder, She Wrote is no exception. Each installment in the Meg Langslow series is a joy to read as we follow her family in their latest escapades.

Another fabulous entry in this long-running series! Thanks for the opportunity to read the Advanced Reader Copy. Meg accompanies friends and neighbors to find a lost African-American graveyard. Unfortunately, they also stumble across a recently deceased body as well. The body is that of a despised transplant, living in the local upscale HOA of Westlake. As the snooty Westlake people keep filing complaints about things like local bee hives and other 'animal' events, Meg is dispatched by the mayor to deal with the complainants again. Between the dead body and the dead bees, there's plenty to keep Meg and the Police Chief busy. So excited to read this latest offering by Ms. Andrews and I recommend it.

I love this book! This is definitely one of the best of the series. I loved the hummingbirds and the bees and the whole storyline, I didn’t want to stop reading. I hope this series continues for a long time. #BirderSheWrote #NetGalley

A fun edition to this long-running series, Meg and her family save bees and hummingbirds and solve a murder along the way. The plot wasn't very complicated, but the great relationships, dialogue, and character development make it a fun read. Thanks to #NetGalley for the ARC.

Once again, Donna Andrews has written a fun, funny mystery. Aside from a plot that keeps you glued to the book, she throws in enough information about bees to make you feel like you learned something without the facts being thrown in your face and leaving you feeling like the author thinks you're an idiot.

As usual I feel sorry that I finished it and now have to wait for the next book in the series.

Such a fun entry in Donna Andrews' long-running Meg Langslow mystery series! I have read all of the books to this point but believe a newcomer to the series would also enjoy this -- it combines lovely characters, laugh-out-loud humor, mystery, murder, and the usual mayhem that seems to spring up in Caerphilly, Virginia. I highly recommend.

Many thanks to Netgalley and Minotaur Books for the review copy.

don't dip into mysteries nearly as often as I do other genres, as my tastes are so narrow. I like the victim to be someone I don't care about, the murderer to be obnoxious, and less forensic yuk and clue collecting than a mix of interesting characters.

So the last book I tried by Donna Andrews turned out not to be a stand-alone, but the latest in a very long line of mysteries. I'd enjoyed it for the most part, except for all the characters I was supposed to know and didn't. When I saw this newest one offered, I thought, let's try another!

I opened it yesterday thinking I'd read just long enough to sip my tea... and the next thing I knew it was bedtime, I hadn't gotten anything done that I'd meant to do. It thoroughly sucked me in, and did not let me go until the last satisfying page.

Victim I didn't care about? Check. And so on down the line.

Wild cast of characters, absolutely! Added to that, a ton of fascinating stuff about keeping bees, and about hummingbirds, and general farm facts, without ever being too much. Add in the slowly growing danger, with blackmail turning up as well as the occasional gunshot, and I had a very engaging mystery that exactly fits my particular likes.

And now I'm totally a fan, looking forward to reading some of the others, and whatever Donna Andrews writes next!

Donna Andrews is back again with her latest Meg Langslow cozy mystery! I was provided an ARC by the publisher through Net Galley in exchange for my honest review. If you love Donna Andrews's books as I do, you will not be disappointed - mystery involving blackmail, a historical cemetery, hummingbirds and bees! My only critique is I missed more interaction between Meg and Michael and her twins - as well as distant crazy family members. Grandfather, Cordelia, and Mother played a good supporting role.
