So I finished the first book in the series and jumped into this one. While I adored the first-this, I gave it 4.5 stars. This novel is set by the narrator Gordo, which is different from the first one. This one reads like a young adult-which isn't a bad thing-just different again from the first one in the series.
I did love being back in the atmosphere and the other characters and learning more about all of them -I finished the book over 3 days-was hard to put down, and the ending made it all worthwhile.
Characters were engaging-atmospheric- and overall, it was a fantastic read!

I have just now bought books three and four-and can't wait to continue with the series.

Leaving review on Goodreads and on Amazon.

I defiantly would recommend it to fans of romantic fantasy with paranormal twists and shapeshifters mixed in.

I want to thank Netgalley, Tor Publishing Group, and TJ Klune for allowing me to read and review this novel.

Second book in the Green Creek Series……. After reading wolf song I knew I had to devour the next instalment. Mike drop. This author never disappoints. He just makes you FEEL the characters. In all his stories. My heart broke for Gordo in this book, he felt alone and neglected. I also liked Mark but felt more connected to Gordo as it was told through his eyes. This book made me laugh, cry, smile, all the emotions.
Stand up. Hands clapping. Great job TJ Klune.
Great art on the cover too.

Thanks to NetGalley and the publishers for the arc of this book for my honest review.

Ravensong is the second book in the Green Creek Series. This book follows Gordo and his relationship with Mark. Half of the book is sloppy time jumps from their childhood to early adult hood. These were written well and enjoyable snippets but felt strange how they were given to us. It was pretty abrupt when the time jumps or flashbacks stopped happening and we were caught in the present and moving forward. I had been eager to read Gordo and Mark's story; even before I finished Wolfsong. I enjoyed learning about their history but it was super painful and I had trouble rooting for them to end up together the more I knew about them. It never felt like anything was resolved with them. They just argued in circles.

I would recommend this book to fans of Wolfsong, still, because it’s nice to learn more about the pack and TJ Klune books are well written. It isn’t as good as Wolfsong, but perhaps it’s just one of those books that lays down important information you just have to get through between the first and third book. Fingers crossed.

I could not put this book down much as I could not put down the first in the series. This was phenomenal and such growth for the character. I always appreciate a TJ Klune novel and this series has me by the lapels and isn''t letting go at all.

I’ve heard such great things by this author that I couldn’t wait to grab a book. This was my second. The first wasn’t for me, but I saw potential. Unfortunately this one fell flat for me as well.

I expected this book to have more romance and less politics but hey that’s what I got. I really think this one would have been better for me on audio as it was slow and I find those easier to listen to.

I can definitely see why a lot of people adore this author, but sadly I am not one of them.

I will not be leaving reviews outside of netgalley for this one as I did not finish.

Thank you to the publisher for the opportunity to read this one and leave an honest review.

After the utter earth-shattering love, heartbreak, and obsession that was Wolfsong, I could not wait to start this and dive into Gordo's journey.

As usual, I don't know how Klune does this - creates characters so vivid and downright precious that this cold dead heart can't help but love them, but here we are again. From the pieces we get in Wolfsong, I knew Gordo's story was going to be TOUGH, but wow, I was not prepared for this to hit so deeply. Gordo faces so much trauma from seemingly every angle - his father, his mother, their legacies, the Bennets, and his mate....From childhood into adulthood, Gordo is dealt blow after blow, cloistering and hardening himself to cobble together some kind of life and survive and I felt ALL of that pain.

The tension with Mark is always on level 10 but felt even more raw and emotional given where they stand as adults with such a mired history between them. There were moments I felt enraged by Mark's choices, both because they were just AWFUL, but also because they felt too.....teenage angsty when they're like almost 40 lol. Mark needs to clean his act up quite a bit there, Gordo deserves more than some of his antics...

While the overall action in this one felt a little lighter than in Wolfsong, the tension and overarching conflict certainly helped move the plot forward. However, I did feel the sustained points of conflict came at the expense of some real relationship building with Gordo and Mark. I know they have a history, but given the years they lose, I felt like there needed to be a lot more foundation building/rebuilding going on. Alas, maybe it's just because I love Gordo so much and I really needed to see Mark do more grovelling for him.

The role reversal of Ox being the more "adult" mature and grounded one vs. Gordo also felt a bit off. I know Ox's role changes due to events in Wolfsong, but still, Gordo was essentially Ox's parental figure for several years that the shift in dynamic felt a bit sudden.

Rating: solid 4/5 stars, but I want MORE Gordo x Mark romance.

Once I finished Wolfing I was a little skeptical about continuing with this series because I didn't end up loving wolfing the way I thought I would and Mark and Gordo did not really interest me as a couple since I am generally not a fan of second chance romances. But wow was I in for a surprise. This book literally wrung my heart out in the best possible way. The angst gave me too much heartache and the banter had me chuckling and smirking and laughing. But best of all, I loved the found family and the care with which Klune developed every single relationship in the story gets a huge thumbs up with me. Now I am 100% invested in each and every character in this book and I cannot wait to read the next instalment asap. If you, like me, had doubts regarding this series, put it all to rest and just keep on going coz it's worth it!! Highly highly recommended

Gordo and Mark’s love story is raw, complex, long but so worth it. I loved getting back into this series and finally reading their story since it was such an interesting and anticipated one. I love T.J. Klune’s writing, his story telling is one of a kind.

Gordo was betrayed by his pack and he left. Many years later, he returns. It is hard for him to forget the history and the love and the anger….

I love how the relationships work in this book. The characters are terrific and cares for each other. Lots of love, intense emotions and differences to work through. A terrific book to read.

Thanks to the publish for the arc.

This series continues to bring me lots of joy. I won't give too much away, as this is the second book in the series, but if you liked the first book you're most likely going to love this. I will warn you, though, that this installment made me so sad :( I will forgive you this time, Klune, because you continue to break my heart in the best way and I can't wait for more!

Ravensong by TJ Klune is a gripping and emotionally intense story about love, loyalty, betrayal, and finding joy amidst pain. The novel is a part of The Green Creek series, with Gordo Livingstone's story as the focus. Gordo is a witch who was left behind by his pack, and he sought solace in the garage of his mountain town. However, when the wolves return, Gordo finds himself once again a part of the Bennett pack, who he was previously betrayed by.

The author has done an excellent job of weaving a story that is both heartbreaking and heartwarming. The book is written in a way that allows readers to connect with Gordo's character, feel his pain and struggles, and root for him as he faces new challenges. The romance between Gordo and Mark is intense and beautifully written, with the bond between them driving the story forward.

The novel is well-paced and contains well-developed characters with depth and complexity. The author has created a world that is richly detailed and filled with magic, intrigue, and danger. The story is also filled with unexpected twists and turns, keeping readers on the edge of their seats.

Overall, Ravensong is a beautifully written story that explores the complexities of love, family, and loyalty. The novel is an emotional rollercoaster, with heart-wrenching moments balanced by moments of joy and triumph. I highly recommend this book to anyone who loves a well-written and emotionally charged story.

I didn't realize this was part of a series, so I need to go back and read the first book in the series. I'm sure I'll love it when I get to it though.

Dirt and leaves and rain.

This series continues to be epic and awesome. And, in this case, really sad...

I mean. I knew going in that it would be sad. We know from book one that Mark and Gordo belong but shit happened and they were separated. And then more shit happens and just when they are finally in the same place again, they get separated. Again! And then more shit happens... Let's just say it's the slowest of slow burns until those two finally get together again and damn it, it HURT. I haven't cried this heard since. Ever? I can't recall any other book where I started crying in chapter one and then just sobbed my way through the entire story. Seriously, these two take a long time to be happy again...

But, somehow, the evil genius made it worth all the tears and "but why can't they just be happy"s. I don't know how. Magic? Must be. For some bizarre reason, I can't wait to have my heart broken all over again by the next book. So. Yay!

I received an eARC of this book from the publisher via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

Somehow even better than the first book. As magnificent as the formation of the found family was in the first book, in this one the established found family being there for each other and working through things together as an unwavering, tight-knit group was spectacular.

I do love an asshole main character hiding a heart of gold. Gordo is wonderful and kickass and stubborn and stupid and I love him so much. The book encompassed Gordo's childhood all the way to after the events from Wolfsong, providing the information about how everything you wondered about in Wolfsong came about. The author balanced so well the forces breaking Gordo and Mark apart and bringing them back together again, creating a delicious tension in which the reader understood where both characters were coming from and wondered if and how they would ever reconcile.

As with the first book, Ravensong progressed with a lyrical intensity that sank its talons into me and pulled me in. The reader experienced the same emotions as the characters and worked through them together. Klune paced everything perfectly and included just the exact right details to transport the reader into Gordo's mindset. Klune used repetition of ideas and thoughts to maximum effect from page one. I lost count of how many times my heart soared and ached, how many times I teared up. The story was both deeply serious and ridiculously funny.

It took epic and awesome to new levels. This book is a little darker from the beginning, a little more action-heavy. The intensity of the action throughout and my investment in the stakes involved had my heart thudding. It's not the kind of series where characters get through unscathed, and I literally held my breath in parts as I continued reading to see who would survive and in what condition.

I can't even begin to describe how organically the plot, relationships, and worldbuilding flowed and grew, how well the author set up the main and side plot points for the following books. I was hooked into the next book before I even finished this one. If you heard an unholy screeching around 4:30pm ET on 3/17/23, it was me putting a couple pieces together near the end of the book. I couldn't put it down and am dying to read the next one.

I love TJ Klune's books. He writes so beautifully and I just get completely lost in his stories and I read them in one sitting because they are so good. This book was no exception I simply adored this book and hearing about Gordos life.

Thank you to the publisher for allowing me to read this eARC.

This was such a good story! T.J. Klune knows how to break hearts with his words and how to make it better again. I went through so many emotions in this story and it has everything I love in regards to dynamics between the pack, the banter, the characters themselves, and the plot. It's a book that stays in your head.

'Ravensong' is the excellent sequel to 'Wolfsong' by TJ Klune.

Following up a blockbuster like 'Wolfsong' was a heavy task but Klune did it perfectly. Gordo Livingstone was such an enigma in the first book, clearly haunted by the past and the intensely complicated relationships with the Bennett Pack. After the events of 'Wolfsong' we're left with so many questions that it seems impossible to answer all of them. Gordo's story is told in pieces. Alternating between the past and present, so much of Gordo's life is marked by suffering, betrayal and placing duty above all else. Through all that, is there room for second chances? Is it worth it to work for? When does love, both familial and romantic, stop being something you have to sacrifice for?

Gordo and Mark's love story is one of my favorites. I love fated mates but especially when it goes wrong, when the "fate" part isn't enough. You still have to choose each other. These are two grown men who have been through a lot separately and together and maybe it's not worth it after everything? But maybe it is.

I cannot recommend the Green Creek series enough!

Ravensong by TJ Klune had a lot to live up to after the heartbreaking story of Wolfsong. Naturally, knowing TJ's writing, it did just that and more.

Ravensong is a story about Gordo Livingstone, the witch of the Bennet pack. We dive deep into his past as a young witch, his first encounter with the Bennet pack, his growing love for Mark, and the eventual betrayal that came with that. Nevertheless, with the arrival of Ox, everything changes. So does Gordo's relationship with Mark, even if the wounds are still fresh.

This was great. Amazing. Wonderful. Heartwrenching. Hopeful. I-Want-To-Murder-Someone-If-Gordo-Does-Not-Get-His-Happily-Ever-After because he deserves it so. But most of all, my heart warms at the diversity in this series. The character development, the friendship, the love, family, friends, mates, It's just- It's everything.

The characters are diverse, they have recognizable voices, diverse voices, banter I would kill for, etc. The series focuses entirely on characters, so if you're not into a plain, foresty, non-explored world, please stay for the characters.

A big thank you to Netgalley and Tor Publishing Group for gifting me the re-published version of Ravensong by TJ Klune in return for an honest review.
