With bright emotion-filled illustrations, this story is all about a love of reading and the important part Libraries play in making sure everyone - even bears - have access to books in a welcoming environment. When a bear finds an abandoned book in the forest, he learns to read and then wants more books. Traveling to the City he is told time and time again that "books are not for bears." Discouraged, he is on the way home, when he passes a Library and is invited in by the librarian. A lovely addition to Storytime, this will be enjoyed by all ages. It is a lovely reminder that books ARE for everyone.
Very cute picture book. The pictures of woodland creatures and characters help keep the children engaged with the content. I love how the people in the book are all different shapes, sizes, colors and ages. A diverse base of human characters helps children find themselves in the story. I loved the little storm cloud over the bears head when his emotions were upset. The pacing was great. I could see this being a favorite read in a classroom or at home.
Thank you Capstone and NetGalley for the advanced electronic review copy of this delightful book! This beautifully written and lovely illustrated story is about the power of books and enjoyment of reading. Definitely recommend this wonderful book.
This is a very cute book. My 4 year old son enjoyed it a lot. The illustrations were really excellent. We liked the storyline that reading is for everyone and it should be fostered and supported 🥰
This was such a cute book about an adorable bear that just loves reading. I loved how it also incorporates the message of inclusiveness with welcoming all when he goes to the library. This is such a good message and adorable illustrations. My child is obsessed with teddy bears and was hooked the whole time. I would highly recommend this book!!
Everyone should be able to read and enjoy it as well! The story of this bear was very adorable as he ventures to find more books to read, to peak its curiosity. Charming, and inviting, this is a great book to read.
This is a perfect book for the littles in your life. Books & bears what else could you Ask for. The graphics are colorful and eye catching. I read this with my 5 year old and she loved it. I think it would be great for her age and under. She did want to know how the bear got all the books home though.
Thank you for this arc
I'm quite partial to book reading bears - and what could be better than a book loving bear who discovers the joy of a borrowing books from the library. Loved the bright and cheerful illustrations.
This was a beautiful story that teaches dedication to your likes/hobbies/passions. It shows that sometimes you will have haters but it’s important to keep going and stay true to your goals. Very adorable illustrations! Must buy and must read!
Perfect for the little readers in your life!! The illustrations were bright and adorable. The story is perfect new readers and parents to read to their little ones.
This book was such a sweet read and a wonderful way to teach children that books are for everyone.
When a bear finds a book in the forest he works hard to learn to read it and when he's done wants to find more. So he takes an adventure to the city where everyone turns him away until he reaches a library.
He gets to read all day and then even take some home. Very cute!
I received an electronic ARC from Capstone through NetGalley.
Delightful story of a bear who wants to grow beyond his typical role. He wants to read a book. A friend teaches him to read and opens the world. He shares the story with all of his friends and everyone wants to hear/read more. Bear sets off for the city to get more books. Sadly, no place will let him in until he discovers the library where reading is for everyone. I love this message from the author. Bear brings books back and readers can see that this will become a pattern to explore and learn. The artwork captures the emotions and pushes the encouraging message.
This was a sweet story all about the importance of libraries, accessibility, and being inclusive! We need more books like this in this day and age, when libraries, which are for EVERYONE, are under attack. I'll definitely recommend that my library pick this up!
Thank you to Capstone and Netgalley for providing a free copy in exchange for an honest review!
Thanks to the publisher and NetGalley for an eARC of this title! I enjoyed this book! Bear learns to read and goes into the city in search of more books in this cute story for early elementary students!
A cute book that presses the idea that books are for everyone, and everyone can use all materials equally. A bear can ride a bicycle, read books and want more than just honey. A very cute and engaging story - sure to be a series because of popularity!
Enjoyed this book. It was cute and helped promote that books are for everyone and that they can take us wherever we want to go. I will recommend this to my elementary friends and those with children.
Books Aren't for Bears is an adorable story about a bear who finds a book, learns to read from his friend, the wise Owl, and braves the big city to find more books. I love that the library is the place that welcomes him. Libraries are for everyone! I also love that bear goes back and reads to his friends. Adorable story!
[Thanks Netgalley for the opportunity to review this eARC in exchange for my honest review on the book!]
Books Aren’t For Bears is a cute picture book that tells the tale of a bear that learns to read and ride a bicycle. He runs into issues in a school and bookstore but the library is where he learns that books are for everyone. The illustrations are engaging and easy to follow along with the book. I would recommend this book for kids as young as two or three as a read aloud.
Thank you NetGalley for the opportunity to read this book for my honest opinion.
