I loved Herrick's End and was thrilled to continue the story. The characters, world-building and plot are so engaging, I could hardly put the book down. The author does a good job of reminding the reader of what happens in the first book. I can't imagine skipping any part of this story, but strictly speaking, you could read this as a standalone book.
There are lots of creative twists and turns in this book as is expected. The descriptions are so good that I can really imagine myself if these astounding worlds! These are the kind of stories that make me really want to have a pot of tea with the author. What an interesting mind to create such a world and creative solutions to very real problems of The Brickside.
As with HE, there are some references to domestic violence and torture but the mentions are brief and not very descriptive or gory.
The ARC I received had quite a few errors that need to be corrected, but I'm sure those will be polished by final publication.

When Trisha contacted me and offered me a paper ARC I couldnโ€™t say no. This is the second book in the Neath trilogy and I demolished book one in one sitting so I was really excited for this one, and it didnโ€™t disappoint!

The Neath is this world created by witches and is directly beneath our own world, it was created as an escape for victims (abuse etc) that wanted to take control of their lives and provided a very real underground where they couldnโ€™t be found unlike the safe houses and similar that are provided in real life. The topic of abuse, just like in the first book, was handled really well and added an extra dimension to the books.

I love all the creatures in this one, it definitely added an extra to what I felt was missing from the โ€œfantasyโ€ elements in book one. The twists and turns were super too! The whole George Herrick thing really surprised me in this book and it took a real turn I hadnโ€™t been expecting. Iโ€™m excited to see whoโ€™s been the real mastermind behind Ollieโ€™s entire thing! Iโ€™m excited to see where book three takes us, and will be impatiently waiting! The set up for the next book is completely there, and Iโ€™m excited to follow Ollie into the next adventure!

If youโ€™re looking for a new fantasy author, I recommend checking out the first book in this trilogy, and then this one when it releases later this month! Itโ€™s really imaginative, relatable and page turning all at once!

Thank you so much to Trisha for the gifted copy of book two ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿป
