This was a great continuation of this series and I greatly enjoyed where the story has progressed to. I look forward to more and can’t wait!
The Gloom Between Stars in book three in the The Night & Its Moon series by Piper C.J. The aspect I liked the most about this book was the amount of time and craft given into furthering the character development of the characters. This book does really well in highlighting the difficulties and complexities associated with mental health struggles, and the characters themselves are in no way perfect. All have their flaws which makes the characters more relatable as a reader. However unfortunately this book often fell flat for me at times. There were often scenes I wish were less developed, just as some scenes could've used more time and dialogue to expand on the setting. Some aspects felt unnecessarily long and resulted in the book dragging for me which took away enjoyment in the story when five pages could've been summarised into one or two paragraphs. However I can see and appreciate where the author was intending to go with this story, and for that reason I pushed through until the end despite these minor personal problems, This should definitely be the book for anybody that is a fan of a fantasy centred around women being able to defend themselves, with a variety of queer representation and tropes many know and love.
The Gloom Between Stars by Piper CJ had me spellbound and addicted.
I was unable to set this book down, and read it in one sitting, completely mesmerized by the world.
The characters are well written
They are beautifully flawed, and very memorable.
Piper CJ style is captivating and the world that she brings to life was mesmerizing.
The character developments, the story telling, the world building, and the way Piper CJ wrote this story is AWESOME! I truly got transported into this entire world she has so carefully crafted.
With all the phenomenal magic, wild action and intriguing mystery this story was a fun read.
Now I’m off to read book one and two because after starting with three I need more.

Thank You NetGalley and Bloom Books for your generosity and gifting me a copy of this amazing eARC!
I absolutely adored this book, the best one in the series yet!
The book was rich with character development. We learned so much about the characters and saw real growth. I loved that the book touched upon mental health struggles with Nox and had very dynamic character relationship developments. It felt very organic.
I thoroughly enjoyed the mixture of plot-driven events and character development driven. We finally see the characters enjoy themselves and let loose a little. It gave a great perspective into who they are when they aren't in an immediate crisis. Do not be fooled though, there is plenty of combat and crisis to satiate everyone.
The depth in which magic was explained was also really amazing. I'm so intrigued, I need to learn more! I need more.
The book was dynamic, intriguing and fun to read. I cannot wait to see what happens next, I'm on the edge of my seat after that cliffhanger. I NEED to know who lives.
Thank you to Net Galley and Bloom for this ARC in exchange for my honest review.
From the dedication, Piper had me hooked. I've never seen or read such a beautiful and varied representation of bisexuals, specifically, and queer people, generally. Beyond the representation, I love how Piper writes every character and describes every place, situation, and interaction. Her illustrative language and extensive metaphors combined with her "Listen Along" song list has created a fantasy book that is incredibly immersive. All the characters are real and act exactly as I expect according to their trauma and lived experience. And yet, the story Piper has created is constantly surprising me in the best way. She naturally and seamlessly intermixes character development and world-building with foreshadowing so every twist is unexpected but never contrived.
Though the book is primarily about Nox and Amaris and their continued journey to break the curse separating Raascot and Farehold, it's also very character driven. It vividly describes the complex growing and changing of relationships between the core characters. It explores found family, all the forms of love (from platonic to familial to romantic), and all the complexity (good and bad) that can come from loving someone. And most importantly, this book is about loving, accepting, and finding yourself in a world that didn't see your value.
If you like queer stories, fantasy, women saving themselves, found family, and vivid language, this series is for you. Every book has only gotten better. The Gloom Between Stars is my favorite book in the series and I can't wait for the 4th book to come out. I plan to reread this and all books in the series many many times.
The third installment of this series is, in my opinion, the greatest so far. It starts strong and stays strong through the entire book.
The Gloom Between Stars takes you on a beautiful journey where you get to spend even more time with all the characters you grew to love in books 1 and 2 and even introduces you to some new ones!
As always, my favorite thing about this series is the three dimensional approach the writes has to every character and the complexities and quirks of every one of them. It frustrates as think I finally understood them and suddenly everything I believed to be true changes drastically.
I am forever grateful to Piper for gathering the courage to make her dreams come true and bringing her books into the world.
Piper CJ has outdone herself again! The Gloom Between Stars is definitely my favorite book in the TNAIM series. Gloom has it all: action, magic, monsters, mystery, continent lore, camaraderie, sex, passion, and expertly executed twists. The pacing of Gloom is phenomenal. It genuinely feels like hanging out with your best friends as we get to know each character more intimately. Life in Gwydir feels specially crafted for LGBTQIA+ folks whose experience in our world may be less than kind. The peace that washes over you as time and time again Piper’s characters remind us that found family is family, love is not bound by gender, and that love does not equal ownership or possession, is like a breath of fresh mountain air. While the other 2 books in the series don’t necessarily thrust race center stage, it has certainly been a defining theme throughout. Gloom, however, looks racism straight in the eye and firmly, systematically, rejects it. Overall, The Gloom Between Stars is a book that I know I will pick up to re-read just to visit with my lovely friends in Raascot. And I’m certain you will too.
I am still a huge fan after reading the netgalley version of this book. Enthralled, heart pained , and in love with these characters and story development. I am so excited for book 4.
This book truly disappointed me. I hated the writing style and plot. This is not for me. Will not be reading anything else by this author after this one.
OMG!! This book was so good!! I was not expecting that…y’all this might be the best book in the series so far. Prepare to get emotional if you decide to read this but I highly recommend it!! Thank you to NetGalley for providing me this ARC!
If books were sentient, this one would have punched me in the stomach over and over. I honestly had no idea that this series could get better than The Sun and its Shade, but Piper has completely proved me wrong. I absolutely DEVOURED this book, spending every free moment I had desperate to know what happened next.
One of my most favorite parts of this series is that every character is so incredibly fleshed out, and you can't help but fall in love with our main group of protagonists. You can't help but feel their anger, hurt, deceit, happiness, and love. You want them to win.
The stakes in this series have never been higher than in The Gloom Between Stars, and I found myself having to remind myself to take a breath more than once while reading.
You can feel every ounce of love that Piper poured into this novel, and finishing it has left me with the most powerful of book hangovers. While I'm sad knowing we only have one more book left with our group of heroes, the one thing I'm sure of is that Piper will give us one INCREDIBLE finale
