Dylan Chambers, aka Lady Justice, is the woman you call when you’re seeking revenge for hire. Dylan operates in the shadows, meting out retribution on behalf of her mostly female clientele. But when a new client seeks her out to take down pharmaceutical magnate Brent Wilder, the case hits too close to home. Dylan goes deep undercover and will stop at nothing to exact justice for her client and her own sister.
Helping Dylan is hacker extraordinaire and swoon-worthy bestie Daniel Haas. When Daniel drops a bomb on Dylan that he wants to find a wife and quit the business, Dylan has to come to grips with her true feelings for Daniel, all while engaging in an increasingly dangerous take-down scheme.
Close Enough to Hurt is so good that I was shocked to realize it was a debut novel! Dylan is the most appealing FMC I’ve come across in quite awhile, morally grey and a total bad ass but also awkward and funny and vulnerable. You’ll totally be rooting for her to serve up some karma to Brent Wilder. The setting is also outstanding, taking place in Dylan’s home in the houseboat community in Sausalito, California, as well as the posh wealthy enclave of Pacific Heights where Dylan poses as Brent’s bombshell next door neighbor. The pacing is perfect, seamlessly weaving the sexy friends-to-lovers romance throughout the twisty revenge thriller, with pulse-pounding moments on both fronts.
Many thanks to NetGalley, Crooked Lane Books, and Thriller Book Lovers Promotions for providing me an advance copy of this book.
Dylan is on a mission to avenge the guy who ruined her sister's life. So I went into this one blind, only requesting it because I loved the cover and what a great decision that was! If you're like me and enjoy thrillers, you need to read this one! It was clever, intensely thrilling and had me hooked right from the start.
This is a really fun story about Dylan (aka “Lady Justice,” avenging angel and vigilante for those who have been denied justice in the world, especially women. Dylan has a helper/accomplice, Daniel, who is a computer genius, moonlighting from his day job at Apple to help Dylan deliver justice. Of course, Daniel is somewhat attractive, and an unrequited romance is part of the fun as Dylan and Daniel team up on a case that hits close to home for Dylan, who was motivated to start all this by a family trauma years ago that may be linked to her current case.
I really liked the snappy writing, quick plotting, and unique characters. I also always enjoy a “lady vengeance” type of plot, and this once comes through with a satisfying ending. There is just enough romance to do some spice without derailing the pace or the suspense. I enjoyed the book a lot. Katherine Olson is a writer to watch!
Thank you Netgalley for the ARC of this book. I still can't believe this was the authors debut!! Great read packed with crazy good vigilante justice. Normally I don't like romance in my reading but this just worked. Fast paced and fun. Grab a copy
I normally don’t like romance mixed into my thrillers, but somehow this one worked for me, and I really find it hard to believe it is a debut. This one was fast paced, and I liked that it started right from the beginning and held up until the end. Dylan was a great protagonist also, I enjoyed not only what she did for a living but the backstory on why she started doing it. Her relationship with Daniel was complicated and I loved how they interacted. I listened to this one via audio and I thought it was well done, I really enjoyed reading it this way. The ending was satisfying and I cannot wait to see what Olson does next!
Thank you to Crooked Lane Books, Thriller Book Lovers Promotions and Libro FM for the copies to review. This one is out Tuesday and it needs to be on your list.
You know I’m a fan of vigilante justice in my thrillers so I’ve been excited to read this one! I really liked Dylan’s character (aka Lady Justice) and was immediately hooked as I learned how she expertly doled out well-deserved revenge. Then the romance took over and unfortunately slowed the pace down quite a bit. Overall though, this was a fun read.
Thanks to Netgalley and Crooked Lane Books for access to this Arc in exchange for my honest review.
That girl ! I want to be friends with her. She's a no nonsense girl who will achieve justice/revenge whatever the way. This book was a real fast and enjoyable read. I don't really care for spice in thrillers, but even that didn't deter me from the book. I loved the romance part too. And happy with the ending.
I absolutely loved this book! It was a perfectly paced read with short chapters (LOVE!) that I flew right through and could hardly put down. I found myself in disbelief that this was a debut novel and I loved the author’s writing style so much, I can’t wait to see what’s (hopefully) next! It was a marriage of my two favorite book genres, romance and suspense/thriller but definitely more heavy on the romance which I loved! I LOVED the main character who was such a badass vigilante and I loved how perfectly it all wrapped up in the end.
Thank you so much to NetGalley and Crooked Lane Books for my early digital copy of Close Enough to Hurt for my honest thoughts and review!

Hard to believe this was a debut! This novel was so fast-paced, juicy and the cat and mouse games were well-played to one combustible conclusion! I cannot wait to read this authors next novel. "Tits up. Knives out."
If your perfect idea book is a domestic thriller with a side of revenge and healthy serving of romance and spice, then this book is for you. This one took me a while to get into, but it had a very satisfying ending with lots of action. Olson's writing style is top-notch, delivering a realistic and immersive reading experience. This is definitely a suspense thriller, but has elements of a spicy romance as well. This book masterfully balances the elements of suspense and romance, making it a must-read for those who enjoy a gripping domestic thriller with a side of spicy romance. A digital copy of this book was provided to me by Crooked Lane Books. The opinions are my own and freely given.
Dylan Truman's (AKA: Lady Justice) business is to take revenge on those that have wronged others: be it husbands, boyfriends, bosses. She exposes them to their community and businesses. With the help of her best friend Daniel Haas, they make a great team.
Then a client brings a target to her attention, and she takes personal gratification in exposing him as he was the reason, she started this business to begin with. To avenge the wrong inflicted on her sister.
I enjoyed this story. Dylan doesn't take anything from anyone and knows how to get out of a situation. I liked the relationship between Dylan and Daniel, but my personal opinion. there was a little too much detail. That was my primary dislike of this book, as I was not looking for a romance. I felt that it story focused on Dylan and Daniel and Brent (her target) was put off into the background. Everything was fast paced, and overall, a good debut.
Thank you, Crooked Lane Books.

Dylan is a modern day revenge artist. She takes clients by word of mouth only since her business isn't exactly legal. She will thoroughly destroy the life of someone who deserves it. Dylan enjoys her life and her job but there's a dark reason that she does this work. When the man who is responsible for hurting her sister falls into her lap, she quickly becomes obsessed with trying to take him down. This job may unravel her entire life, but she's ready to make that sacrifice if she has to. She's gotten quite good at not having relationships anyway...
I thoroughly enjoyed this book! I just wanted more!!! I want more of this storyline, more of the characters, and definitely more revenge! I really loved the characters and how well they are formed. The writing is fantastic. I loved the way this story unraveled. It was done I'm a very good way. A little slow to start, but it soon picks up!! If there was a series about these characters I would be too happy!!
Thank you to Netgalley, Crooked Lane Books and Dreamscape Media for the ARC/ALC!
Dylan - aka “Lady Justice” - is a revenge-for-hire freelancer along with her best friend (and hacker extraordinaire) Daniel. Though lately, she has found herself thinking about Daniel differently, especially as his family is pressuring him to settle down. When Dylan gets a calls to enact revenge on billionaire CEP Brent Wilder, this time it’s personal, as Brent attacked and injured Dylan’s sister years ago, Dylan is all too eager to worm her way into Brent’s life and make him pay. But at what cost?
First of all - I can’t believe this is a debut novel!! It’s not easy to pull off a truly exciting suspense story while developing a romance (and I am a hard sell on romance in thrillers), but Katharine Olson did it seamlessly! Dylan’s professional life and romantic life flowed together as she tried to navigate what was the right thing to do. Brought perfectly to life by Emma Love, Lady Justice is someone I would certainly want to have on my side. Katherine Olson’s writing style reminded me of Samantha Downing, and I can confidently say I will eagerly wait to see what she comes up with next!

It’s SEPTEMBER first so HAPPY FALL🍂! Yes, I know it’s not actually the first day of fall but it is in my world! I love all things fall, especially cooler weather and fall decor is just so cozy and gorgeous! Most of all I love having a fall themed booksta feed.
Thank you so much to @thrillerbookloverspromotions for the gifted early copy of 𝐶𝑙𝑜𝑠𝑒 𝐸𝑛𝑜𝑢𝑔ℎ 𝑡𝑜 𝐻𝑢𝑟𝑡 by author @katherineaolson! I LOVE a thriller with a romance plot as well and this was it, there was even some spice😍! There are not a ton of thrillers with a heavy romance aspect so I’ll definitely be recommending this to my besties who enjoy thriller + romance.
The revengeful storyline is tense and the action never seems to stop. We have a badass vigilante main character who helps women who have been wronged, and although she has a taboo job she is easy to relate to in every other way.
𝐶𝑙𝑜𝑠𝑒 𝐸𝑛𝑜𝑢𝑔ℎ 𝑡𝑜 𝐻𝑢𝑟𝑡 was a fast paced, quick read, that gives the reader all the feels- humor, sadness, anger, love and anticipation. Such a well written, creative, debut thriller, 100% recommend!
Creepy. Twisty. Brilliant. Intense.
Revenge, horrible people, suspense. Fast-paced and addictive. And yes, also entertaining, very, very entertaining. This book has it all.
Oh, and did I mention short chapters? Makes you read it super-fast.
Honestly, I can’t believe there are no other books by this author out there, this does not feel like a debut. This is definitely an author I will be keeping an eye out for!
4.5 rounded up.
Yippee-freakin-ki-yay 🤩🤩 What a fabulous debut!! A fast-paced mystery with sardonic wit and a plant loving bad ass woman hell bent on getting revenge on all the shitebags society has to offer 💥💥
I LOVED Dylan, what a brilliant character. The right amount of kick ass with a vulnerable side (she talks to her succulents 🪴- girl after my own heart🖤🖤) I thought her friendship with Daniel and their whole relationship was so well written and I was really invested in both characters. Not gonna lie… a bit of a crush on our Daniel 🫢🫢 Oh and a sneaky bit of 🌶️😅 (this is becoming a bit of a habit…) 😂😂
Brent… what an absolute a-hole!!! 🤬🤬 Olsen did such a good job writing his character! 🤌🤌
Nicely paced, short chapters (another win!) clever dialogue, and a nicely wrapped up ending, I enjoyed every minute 😍😍 I’ll definitely be checking out Olsen’s next book!
I love a good story based solely on revenge! Lady Justice rights the wrongs in women's lives, and she is very good at it. Then it becomes personal, and the stakes are higher than ever. Lady Justice is going after the man who tore her family apart. Along the way she slowly realizes her feelings for her partner in crime, Daniel.
This was quite the fast paced read, and I equally enjoyed reading the revenge and the romance parts. With that said the ending felt very rushed! I needed more details on everything that happened to Lady Justice’s target and his victims. Overall I would recommend to those who love a good revenge story.
Wowza! What a debut! I loved this from the word go.
It is brilliant
It is addictive
It is thrilling
It is just quite amazing
All the positive book adjectives😂
It's an enthralling vigilante story and I am naming it thriller of the season. An absolute must read.
