A solid 3.5 stars. A Sweet Spot for Love was exactly that, a sweet story (with just enough spice - that mouth on Linc, wowza!). Emma broke my heart, maybe because I could hear myself saying some of the things she said about herself. I did have some trouble following whose POV from time to time, but overall the pacing of the book was smooth and the characters are well developed.

Thank you NetGalley for the opportunity to read this in exchange for my honest review.

I really enjoyed this romance novel. I love the fake dating/engagement trope a lot and this was excellently done. I had to look into some of the baseball concepts as I am dumb when it comes to sports-related stuff but that is all on me.
However, the story's pacing was excellent. The conversations felt natural. I felt that sexual tension between the characters and was flustered when they bickered at times.
This novel certainly has a sweet spot in my heart and can't wait to reread it when it comes out.

OMG this book is my new obsession! I loved every word of this book. If I could give it 6 starts I would.

*3.5

I did really enjoy this but it was just missing something for me. It was made clear by their relationship that he spent time with Greer but it wasn't actually shown to us. Like the end where she tells him that she wanted him to be her dad was adorable but we've hardly seen them together. I also wanted him to grovel more at the end.

I received an arc through netgalley.

A Sweet Spot For Love by Aliyah Burke (coming out on March 27, 2023)

DNF (did not finish)
🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥/5

Linc is a former pro baseball player that has started his own community center for kids. Emma is a hard-working mom whose daughter Greer has taken a shine to playing baseball at the center. There’s immediate attraction between the two adults that both have a hard time ignoring.

This book was a DNF for me. From the very first chapter, it was very smutty, which I normally don’t have a problem with, but I felt like the book focused on the smut more than the actual story. It has the potential to be a great story, but it was way too focused on sexual attraction for me.

"She has been more than half in love with this man the majority of her life, watching from the outside, wishing to be there with him. The dreams, the fantasies.

High School Crush🙈

Emma has been infatuated with Linc since she was in high school. She is a wallflower he's a sexy and popular baseball player.
Life got in the way and Emma got pregnant and had to drop out of school. Now, she's a single working mom to a beautiful little girl called Greer.
Link on the other side, is running a community center for kids and has left to playing baseball after suffering from a severe injury. Trying to go National with the community center he's looking for investors and one of them happens to be interested in a responsible family man so when Linc slips and lies that he's engaged he's left with no choice but to pretend and there's no woman that he's he likes to pretend with rather than Emma.

Sexy, steamy, and slow Burn romance. Very cute and funny
Fast-paced chapters and lovable characters you would not want it to be finished it was a love from first word for me and I'm sure it will be the same for you.

Wooow! Aliyah Burke did it again! Tinkering in Love was my first read from her and I was impressed but at this point I'm thankful! She left no stones unturned in this book! The steamy cute, funny, hopelessly in love love story of Linc and Emma. I loved everything about the book. But what I loved most is that she makes her characters so human in appearance and characteristics so the story also feels real. I literally could not put this book down! Thank you Netgalley and Entangled Publishing for sending me this awesome read!

A Sweet Spot For Love follows Linc, a former professional baseball player who was permanently benched due to an injury, as he works hard to build a community center for children to learn and play. This - is where his path crosses with Emma. A single mother to her daughter Greer, Emma has always put herself last to make sure that her daughter had everything that she needed to succeed. When shy, introverted Greer comes home spouting her newfound love of baseball at the community center- Emma knows that she will do anything she has to do in order to support her. It's this choice that puts her directly in Linc's path. The electricity and slow burn between the two is palpable, and it will hold you captive the entire time that you read this book. Both Linc and Emma spend the entire book bantering back and forth and it almost feels like watching a riveting tennis match to see which one of them will get the point in the end.

This book is great for people who want something heartwarming that they can finish in an afternoon. Full of loving moments, trust being built and turns that you never see coming, this was a really satisfying read.

"Until I get to claim you like I want, this will have to do. See you in a bit."
"No hiding from me, Freckles. I love everything I'm seeing. I want to take it slow and savor what you have”
Book two in the Rock Falls series but each one can be read as a standalone (although I highly recommend to read book one that was SO GOOD !!!)
A single mom romance with a wonderful baby girl so spirited that literally melted my heart !!!! With enemies to lovers romance a a fake fiancée situation to help him for his job and an attraction that makes the tension between them so terribly thick, Linc and Emma’s story was so good it made it impossible for me to stop reading !!!!
Their romance had basically some of the best tropes ever !!! Starting with the plus-size and Adonis dynamic to the sharing of a room with forced proximity and such a SLOW BURN !!!! And the spice was really enjoyable !!!! But most of all it was the story of a young mom trying to overcome everything shitty that happened in her life to take care of an unexpected wonderful daughter that she has every intention to give each and every chance she never had !!! While she was trying to re-learn how to trust others, Emma found herself between Linc’s arms and their chemistry was impossible to fight !!!
Plus ain’t no denying that whenever there is a child involved in the romance … I’m so so lost in the game and Greer is so sweet !!!! I had such a good time reading this second book in a series and I honestly cannot wait to figure out what the author is up to with the next book !!!
"The catch is you have to trust us to help you."

A fast read. Complex characters who are easy to root for. A slow build-up, genuine romance between a former professional baseball player and a single mom who does everything she can for her daughter.

This book was a sweet romance novel of two people that grew up in the same town but had no connection until their paths crossed later on in life.

Emma is a single mother struggling her way through life. She has a crumby job, doesn't have many people she trusts and lives solely to take care of her daughter. Linc is a former baseball player with a passion to help kids in the community have a place that is safe and allows them to follow their passions. Their paths cross and they find themselves in a fake relationship. Slowly, they realize that maybe they can have more than a fake relationship as long had their own insecurities don't get in the way.

This was a short and sweet story that I truly enjoyed. It started off slow but once I got into the characters connection I couldn't put it down.

3.5 stars

Linc is a former pro baseball player now running a community center in his hometown with the help of his two best friends.
Emma is a single mom to a little girl Greer, who recently joined the baseball league at the community.
In hopes to get a landing a big investor to help build a hockey rink (and make the center national) Linc accidentally tell the investor (who is a big family man) that we was in a relationship.
Can what starts out as Linc and Emma in a fake engagement turn into the real the deal?

This was a quick short sports romance with a slow burn that just a little bit drama in between. While it wasn't a favorite, I enjoyed it enough to read more books by this author.

Single mom. Former professional athlete. Fake engagement.

Good storyline but with some heavier moments included. Emma seemed to be treated pretty poorly before Linc comes along, and even some after. Luckily, she has a good group of friends, then Linc and his friends, to help her overcome confidence issues people from her past have caused. I also loved little Greer and how their little family was pulled together.

Thanks to NetGalley for this ARC in exchange for my honest review. Watch for A Sweet Spot for Love to come out March 27, 2023.

A former pro baseball player who wants to fund his community center to help kids finds himself falling head over heals for the single mother of a kid at his center. Linc Conner knows what he wants : to help kids and get funding to make his community center a success. Then he runs into Emma Henricksen, a single mom, and she’s all he can think about. Emma is busy raising a kid, dealing with her insecurities, and having a huge crush on Linc, a guy she thinks is completely out of her league. Emma loves her daughter more than anything in the world, so when her daughter asks to be part of the baseball program at the center, who is she to deny her daughter the opportunity... but that means she has to talk to Linc. When Linc and Emma finally talk to one another sparks fly, but then Linc asks Emma to help him convince potential investors that are visiting that she is his fiancee, and Emma agrees. Yet the more time they spend together the closer they get and then the line between pretend starts to blur into what is actually real. Linc is definitely falling for Emma, but after her last horrible relationship and all her insecurities, she can’t fathom why he would want to be with her and he needs to convince her that she is exactly everything he could ever dream of. This was a cute read with sweet moments, Emma was dealing with a ton of insecurities about her weight and body image and it was tough to read because of how often she would talk about it but if you can handle that, then this is a great read. I do like the romance between Linc and Emma, he’s very supportive and truly adores her.
