I had a blast reading this book. We see Buster facing some difficulties, and it causes them to make a rash decision. This leads them to somewhere that helps them learn a good lesson. Once this story comes to a close, we see something amazing happen. Kids will have a great time reading this book.

Proving to be not so much about racing cars as about our emotions and letting them get the better of us, this shows a determined race car – too determined, perhaps. Bound to lose a race at the last second, frustrated by accidents, loathing the comments and looks from others, he scares himself off the track, in spite of his coach's decent words about taking deep breaths and losing the emotions of the moment. Instead he finds a new experience – off-road racing. But when he proves to be not as good as he would wish for there, what hope is there for the little character?

This is colourful and lively, and yes, despite what I said does actually provide some car-based narrative. But it is mostly designed to be a book to bring us down a notch when our emotions get too great. Deeper, slow breaths are what's called for, as the car at the end proves, when trying to get to sleep and even in the exam room. So that transferable skill is probably going to be the take-out, as opposed to the entertainment of the snippets of racing shown here, but that's not a bad thing. Lively, colourful art shows the merits of this world off, and even if it isn't the most engaging of franchises, it's a book with a purpose that does not lose sight of the need to actually provide some sense of fun with it. A decent four stars.

I just read Buster Gets Back on Track by Dale Earnhardt, Jr. and I recommend it for all elementary school libraries. It is an exciting book about race cars that are going to school to learn how to race and learn some positive life skills along the way. Buster's name describes the character and he gets a little bit sidetracked until some new friends help him find his way back where he finds success. Whether a child is looking for a book with a positive message or an exciting book about racecars, they will enjoy reading this book!

Buster Gets Back on Track is a beautifully illustrated book that talks about trying new things even when they're hard. This is the second book in the Buster the Race Car series. The storyline focuses on Buster learning the value of practice and working through his emotions.

I love the style of art chosen to illustrate the book. The message is present and understandable throughout the story. I love the use of a race car as the main character. It is a nice change from the many animal-themed children’s books that are so common in teaching lessons.

My son was absolutely delighted by the first book in this series. We have read and listened to it numerous times. I hoped that this one would be a winner as well and I was not disappointed. I look forward to sharing it with them once it is released.

Buster Gets Back on Track would be a great addition to any school or home library. Any little race car fan would love the sweet message and fun illustrations.

I was surprised Jeremiah wasn't as into this as I was. Is he getting past the Boys and Their Trucks phase? Because that's depressing.

This is a really sweet story about wanting to give up after you fail. Buster runs away, only to meet a new group of friends who do things differently than he's used to, and he discovers that failure isn't always what it seems like.

So sweet.

Buster Gets Back on Track is a fun story about Buster the race car. He has trouble on the race track and gives up when he gets frustrated. He goes on a little journey and learns about perseverance and patience when facing things that are hard. In the end, his patience and perseverance win the race! Great story for kids who love cars, and for anyone who has faced challenges and felt like giving up! Buster the race car is a great role model for not giving up!

Buster Gets Back on Track was definitely a book I underestimated -- I thought it would be a simple book about car racing but I loved the focus on coping strategies and learning to breathe through stress and emotions. My busy, car loving, big feeling toddler and I loved this one and will definitely be recommending it!

Buster Gets Back on Track was a precious book about trying again when we fail. It teaches children not to get frustrated when things don't go well, but we always have another chance to fix our mistakes. The illustrations were beautiful, and the characters were sweet. I would use this book in the classroom or as teaching material.

This adorable racing story is perfect for the little racing lovers in your life. My little boy loved it. Wonderful illustrations add to this fun story. The details are great for those car crazy kiddos. This story was great for my son because it helped him learn that everyone gets frustrated and we have to work on our emotions and not letting things get to us.

Thanks to NetGalley and Thomas Nelson for Buster Gets Back on Track.
I read this book to my 3 year old son.

This book couldn't have come at a better time. Trying to teach a 3yo how to control his emotions and breathe through the frustration so that he can understand what's happening around him isn't easy. Lachy liked practising the calm breathing with Buster. This story is great for all kids to try and help them learn to manage their big emotions. It was an easy read from an adults perspective and kept Lachy interested in the story with the pictures of different vehicles and scenery.

These books are cute and any kid that likes race cars be they fast cars or big dirt racing cars will enjoy this. I do find that it is a little long and wordy, so it might be a bit much for story time. This book also started with a meet the team and then how to practice your breathing exercises when you’re not on the track. It seemed this book was focusing more on concepts than on being entertaining. Saying that, I do love the illustrations, I love the artwork, I love the color. Sometimes the words were hard to read, because they blended into the background, but overall this was pleasant and kids will enjoy it.
