I was really looking forward to reading this book because I sold Medicare policies for over 20yrs! There is so much misinformation out there that just makes the whole process more difficult for people entering into Medicare. I was pleasantly surprised that Omdahl was very detailed oriented and provided very accurate information that will be helpful for anybody turning 65 or disabled. This is definitely a book I would recommend to my friends aging into Medicare to educate themselves before talking to someone that sells the product because at that point, the conversation can get very confusing if you don't know much.

Very well done book on the Medicare sign up when you decide to retire.
Ms. Omdahl covers every topic you can think of as it relates to your new Medicare insurance: the cost, parts A, B, D, F, G, N, and original Medicare versus Medicare Advantage plans. Who to call, what to explore, how to choose, and when to sign up.
It is still a daunting subject but she has successfully condensed it and left the important things in, such as when you must be signed.
She also covers that which is often overlooked….the importance of having a POA and authorization at Medicare.gov and Social Security for you and your spouse. In the event you become able to state your wishes in regards to where you want your check to be deposited or if you need to change your Medicare coverage in any way…if you can’t say that …your spouse will not be able to speak for you without an authorization.
Great book. Highly recommend. Thanks to the publisher and NetGalley for allowing me this ARC.

Very helpful. Learning some of these tricks for Medicare before retirement can be life-changing for many people. I do wish there had been more of a focus on people who are already disabled. But this will be a helpful intro for many who are ignorant about the topic and so they can start planning now.

This is a really necessary and timely book - I am helping my aging parents navigate medicate plans and enrollment (I still have five years before I need to enroll) and it is very confusing! This book helps guide us through all the considerations and steps and it is clear and well-written. One of the most disheartening things we learn is that when you call Social Security office with questions, you may not get the right answer. So it is important to know what to ask and to confirm the information with other sources like this book. This is a comprehensive guide that walks you through how to enroll, how to pick the appropriate plans (there are many parts to Medicare).

As a caregiver for both my parents for many years I wish I had this guide to helping them out with their Medicare needs. We had to figure everything out on our own while this comprehensive guide helps break things down into topics that discuss everything from the best plan needs for each individual to what is covered and what is not. I feel many other people will feel the same for whatever their Neducare needs are whether it is for themselves or their families,

This book is absolutely packed with information about this insurance program for American seniors. The author is knowledgeable and pulls on a variety of resources. The writing style is clear, encouraging and filled with examples. Ms. Omdahl notes that the choices that are made in selecting a plan have important implications for one’s health care; she urges readers to educate themselves.

This resource is recommended for anyone who feels that they need to know more about Medicare prior to completing their enrollment process. It is a good reference.

Many thanks to NetGalley and Humanix books for this title. All opinions are my own.
