4 stars for a cute manga!

This was overall a really cute and enjoyable manga. I really liked the main characters and dynamic [trope] between them. Meet-cute turns into roommates situation...! Definitely would continue to read this series, looking forward to the next volumes!

Hilarious read with incredible banter!
4 Stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Themes:
• Slice of life
• Humorous
• Forced-proximity
• Cliff-hanger

The story follows Akari, a 25-year-old who is struggling to make ends meet due to her own financial irresponsibility. Despite this, she is an unfailingly positive person who happily spends all her money and time on Ren-Ren, an actor she adores. Her obsession is her closest-kept secret and often leaves her isolated and unable to feed herself.

One day, Akari meets Kazama by accident when she finds an abandoned lunch and can’t help but eat it. This chance encounter leads to a hilarious journey for the two of them, as they navigate forced proximity and unexpected situations.

The art throughout this manga is incredible, and the dialogue is both witty and self-aware. The banter between Akari and Kazama is especially enjoyable, making the story a joy to read.

The world-building could have been stronger, as the reader is only given information that is integral to the story. For example, despite spending half of the manga at work, the reader still has no idea what Akari and Kazama do. However, this doesn't take away from the overall enjoyment of the story.

Overall, this manga is a hilarious read with great characters and banter. The cliffhanger ending will leave readers eagerly anticipating the next instalment.

First off, I just want to say I had an absolutely wonderful time with the art style! Not only is it super clear, but the facial expressions are so funny and not overused. It’s a very fine balance and it hit me just right. I’d love to see more art from this mangaka.

The story had a good start, a young professional woman, Sejima, as an obsessive fangirl trying to keep her secret so her coworkers continue to think she is professional. In enters Kazama, a handsome stranger she begins to bond with. They’re introduced to forced proximity when Sejima loses her apartment and Kazama invites her to live with him until things can be sorted.

I really enjoyed the set up for their friendship, but the rest of the story just wasn’t very gripping and that’s not a great sign for the first volume.

Still, the art style is so good and the set up decent enough that I would definitely give this author another chance. I’d say this one is worth checking out.

This story follows Akari who is so obsessed with an idol and his merchandise that she ends up in financial ruin. She finds herself in a desperate situation and meets kind-hearted Kazama. She confides her troubles to him only for him to be the newest employee in her office.

I liked Akari and her wacky expressions. She's so over the top, but it adds to her character and is such a nice contrast to the cool and calm Kazama.

The plot was kind of slow, but still enjoyable! I'd love to continue this story with the next volume and get to know more about the characters and what other shenanigans they're going to get up to!

I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

Want to thank Netgalley and publishers for giving me the chance to read this book. What a cute manga. This is my second one dealing with someone who has a bias and though they aren't my favorite they are something to pass the time with. I would honestly pick it up if you are a big fan or you just need something in between mangas!

Cute and fluffy read. Manga is a new favorite reading genre of mine recently and this was a fun read. I will check out more in the series soon.

Another promising start to a new series. It moves a little slow at first, but I really enjoyed reading it. Especially since I've been a fan girl once or twice in my life, so I can kind of relate to her feelings about things. The only difference is, I don't care who knows it. If you don't want to be my friend because I like something a lot, well then... there's the door. *shrugs*

I love the interactions between Akari and Kazama, they're just so cute, together, and it feels like they balance each other out very well, and I cannot wait to see what happens next, especially with how the first book ended!

Thank you to the publisher and Netgalley for allowing me to read an ARC of this. All thoughts and opinions expressed are entirely my own.

I absolutely loved this story. It was hilarious I equal parts and so beautifully drawn. The MCs were brilliant. I am looking forward to this manga being a full series.

This book was just too bland for me. The FMC's secret was too meh and unclimactic for how it is hyped up. Our main characters are both okay, I guess. This one's was just not for me.

I loved this, it was so cute. It was a great fast paced read and I am definitely picking up Vol 2 when it comes out. If you like Wotakoi I highly recommend checking this one out.

4 out of 5 stars

I actually really enjoyed this! Manga from NetGalley usually is meh or really bad in terms of my taste but this was almost 5 stars from me! I really hope this goes to print for the English version because I would love to own a copy of this physically. This is just such a cute idea, it's sort of like "Wotakoi: Love Is Hard for Otaku" but more mellow (I've only seen the anime so it was probably calmer in the manga). I like the characters presented so far and I just can't wait to see how their relationships grow in the future. I like that this manga is focused on adults and office life but it still feels like a shojo. There was a slight misunderstanding that happened in this volume that kind of irked me but I usually just don't like that troupe in general so I won't hold that against them.

Disclaimer: I recived a digital copy of this in exchange for a review from NetGalley but these are my honest thoughts and opinions.

Okay, this was SO cute!! This was a purely just-for-fun shojo that had me giggling and swooning the whole way through. It’s goofy and silly, but also sweet and wholesome. I so enjoyed this first volume, and I’m genuinely excited to pick up a physical copy when it releases. Also, with that major cliffhanger, I’m definitely excited for volume 2, as well! If you’re looking for something light-hearted that’s guaranteed to make you smile, look no further!

This was absolutely delightful.

Cute art, hilarious plot line, fun characters. Black cat x Golden retriever ship dynamic. This debut is perfect for readers who like cute, cheesy romantic stories. Set partially in an office, these two are forced proximity to the max. Similar vibes as Romantic Killer, but more adult and a little less chaotic.

LOVELYYYYYY. Amazing!

A promising first volume for a new shoujo manga. Akari has a secret from the rest of her office: she's obsessed with the idol Ren-Ren. After a series of extreme bad luck, Akari is destitute, starving, and homeless when she gets an unexpected invitation to live with the only other person who knows her secret. Only, he's her new coworker?!? He's rich?!? As they settle in together will Akari be swayed by work rumors or trust in her own intuition?

I can see this becoming a cute short-ish manga series. Fans of My Girlfriend is a Geek, Wotakoi, and the theme of accidental roommates might find this volume interesting.

This is one of the cases where the format makes it difficult for me to read digital but what little bit I was able to was super cute. I'll definitely pick it up after it physically releases.

It gives you a somewhat similar vibe to Wotakoi, as both female lead characters hide that they are an otaku and they have a guy who listens/accepts that side of them. It is a fun read and the characters are relatable. Even when we meet Kamara's friend, I could relate to their excitement of meeting a fellow otaku 🤣 It was also nice seeing another manga where they are older than high schoolers.

Akari is a fangirl but keeps it from her coworkers. Like most lunches she makes them believe she is talking to her boyfriend, when she is really watching a live stream. However, a crow steals her lunch and one thing leads to another where she meets Kazama (he is so sweet). She didn't think he was an employee at her company, so she told him all her secrets as she ate his food.
Akari keeps running into problems and every time Kazama seems to be there at the right time to help. Kazama has some things he keeps to himself, but both Akari and Kazama slowly learn more about each other than few to no one else knows.

Aww, this was cute and fluff. I would love to continue reading these two. She's chaotic and he's the opposite, a perfect mix for chaos.

Thank you to the publisher & NetGalley for a copy of this title in exchange for my review.

Akari works in a busy office where she keeps a secret from her coworkers- she's actually broke! All of her hard earned cash goes straight to funding her fangirl hobby over superstar theatre actor, Ren-Ren. All seems well until she runs out of money for food and housing... Afraid to reach out to anyone she works with and admitting her obsession, a new coworker, Ritsu, helps her along and she finds herself being housed and fed by her quiet coworker.

Attempting to keep their odd relationship away from their coworkers, we see Akari navigate her new housing situation while also learning more about the mysterious Ritsu. It seems that he is more than just meets the eye... will we see their relationship progress in the next volume?

Funny, diverse, and relatable- I enjoyed this first installment. I look forward to reading the next! I have a feeling that this may be a case of He fell first, but she fell harder. I can't wait!

Thank you NetGalley, Independent Publisher Group, Love X Love and Mushiro for the ARC of My Coworker Has a Secret Vol.1

The first volume of My coworker has a secret did not disappoint!! It’s so cute and heartwarming. The story start with Akari, an office worker that live a double-life as a good and proper office worker & akari as a big ren-ren fangirl. The story itself were entertaining and gives off calm and fuzzy feelings. Not a lots of conflict, so it will be suitable to read in a lazy sunday.

The characters development in the first volume were quite good, it’s not that visible but there’s some slight progress which is understandable. Can’t wait to read the next volume!!
