This is the second book in the O'Malley mafia series. After reading the first book, I was excited to get the chance to find out about the story between Carrigan and James since it began in the first book.
Read this for:
- Mafia romance
- Just a hookup
- Enemies to lovers
- Forbidden love
- The hero being gone for her
The chemistry between James and Carrigan is instant. The thing that grows throughout the book is there immense care for one another. Neither one can get the other out of their heads and even though Carrigan is on a countdown clock to find a husband off her father's list, the two of them can't stay apart.
Their families are enemies to one another, but that doesn't stop them from forming their connection. James really shows up for Carrigan and that allows her to break down her emotional walls and really be vulnerable with him, and count on him. Expect more of the extreme fighting that you know comes with a mafia book.
I really loved these two together. They both wanted a different life, a better one for the
I do wish there was an epilogue in this one to know a bit more about what happened with them at the end, but I have a feeling there will be more of them in the next books in the series.
I enjoyed this one and I'm looking forward to reading about more of the O'Malleys!
Thank you to Forever and NetGalley for my arc in exchange for my honest review.
Part of a longer series (that is 100% my favorite series by Katee Robert), James and Carrigan are probably my favorite couple from this series so I was excited to reread this and it held up.
Carrigan is strong and badass but with a well rounded depth that prevents her from being one dimensional (or unoriginal) and James is the perfect villain with a heart. Their story of enemy to lovers is *chef kiss* and there is just the right balance of darker elements, love story, and B-plot that the author is an expert at. She is one of the authors that I don't worry about when I read darker romance because I know I am in safe hands.
This series is a must read for anyone looking for a dark romance, mafia romance, or a general dip in Katee Robert's backlist.
Content warnings from the author's website: Abusive father, sibling death (on page), guns, blood, assault, murder, explicit sex, torture (mentioned, not explicitly), parental death by cancer (off-page, historical)
I don’t think I loved this one quite as much as the first, but it was still an enjoyable read. Katee knows how to pack the heat, and she once again delivered with this book. While I consider the romance to be the main plot, the sub-plot of James figuring out his new position as the head was pretty solid. Overall, if you enjoy Katee’s books, mafia romances, or forbidden love, this is the book for you.
4.5⭐️ I LOVED James and Carrigan!
Enemies to lovers is one of my favorite tropes and this did not disappoint. Their back and forth is so funny but also oozing sexual tension. 🔥 The spicy scenes were amazing. You can feel their connection from beginning to end. I only wish we had an epilogue! It ended a bit abruptly.
This is a standalone but their story starts in book one so I highly recommend reading that first to get the whole picture.
*I received an ARC of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review with my honest opinion.*
Carrigan and James are somehow even more incredible than Teague and Callista. Carrigan is frankly the most well developed and strong of any of Katee Robert's characters, and I love her for it. This might be one of my favorite KR books yet! Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the free advance copy.
OMG - another mafia romance. It was great.
Loved the first one, and I loved this one.
One of the things I loved was the strong women in the series. Loved to see how the relationship from Carrigan and James developed.
Can't wait for more of this series. It was very good.
Thank you so much to NetGalley, Katee Robert, and Forever (Grand Central Publishing) for an ecopy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
I loved this book! Carrigan is such an absolute badass of a woman. She took what her family tried to make her and rebuked it all in the name of what/who she wanted to be. She was the first of the O'Malley's to stand up to their parents and I love that for her. Her and Jame's didn't have an easy go of it but they fought for their love. This is the perfect forbidden romance and I can't wait until the others in the series are republished. This series is a must read in Katee Robert's backlog.
Thank you NetGalley, Forever for the widget and Katee Robert for the e-ARC in exchange for honest review. Not many authors except Katee i would throw away my TBR and immediately start an e-ARC.
Whew ok this is my new favorite Katee Robert/Mafia book and love we got to it quicker then in book 1. Mafia is a newer to me sub-genre and get the hype. The charactera the story qwre just chefs kiss.
