I really struggled with this book. I found the characters very confusing, I didn't love how the love interest was explored. Overall, it was not for me and felt like it could have benefitted from additional edits.

Can a god and a siren truley be in love. This is the question that Lula is asking herself when she meets Alex. What she doesn’t know is Alex has been watching her.

I received a complimentary copy of this book from NetGalley. The opinions expressed in this review are completely my own

3.5 rounder to 4 Stars

I really enjoyed this book. It took me a good couple of chapters to get into it but once I did I was hooked. This book is a new take on Mythology featuring Sirens and Greek gods. The plot was great and the world building was amazing.
Alex and Lula are destined to be together but face plenty of challenges trying to get there. The romance is really strong in this book which I really enjoyed!
I’m really looking forward to reading more from this series.

Congratulations on this beautiful debut novel.

Thank you to the Author, Netgalley and the Publisher for an eARC of this book in exchange for my honest review.

A mythology infused romance are usually my cup of tea, but while I liked the premise I found this book a bit lacking. The pacing felt clunky - either nothing was moving forward or everything was happening. And I found the backstory and world building a bit hard to follow and I generally found the characters actions to skew younger than I was expecting (think more New Adult). My biggest pet peeve is the MMC, Alex, is somehow this great tactical thinker, but also never sees anything coming and lies - just all the time.

I think that there are those who will really like this, I am just not that person.

A fun, Greek god themed romance that packed a punch with the ending.

I'll be honest, I began this read enjoying it, but not feeling particularly drawn to the characters. Around 50%, WOW. I fell in love. Couldn't put the book down and I can't wait to read the sequel!
A siren and a Greek gods aren't allowed to be together... but they can't stay apart.
If you want to read a romance with Greek gods acting like Greek gods, this is the one for you!

4.5 stars

Thank you to NetGalley for the advanced reading copy of my song’s curse by poppy Minnix. This was cute, modern day fantasy creatures having jobs and trying to have a normal life with complications of course

There's something about deities speaking like frat boys that makes me smile. I don't know what it is, but it made Alex, the male main character, and his friends Comus, and Rath instant favorites of mine. Don't get me wrong - they didn't do it constantly, and it wasn't completely immature - it was just fun and light-hearted, even during a rather harrowing scene that needed some comic relief.

I'm also a sucker for siren lore. There aren't enough books about them, and the author's take on them in My Song's Curse was original and ripe for storytelling. Lula, the female main character, struggled with the loneliness of being a siren. In her world, every word she speaks and sound she makes enthralls beings. It isn't a choice of when to command them - she just does whether she wants to or not. She finds that Alex is the exception because the siren's curse doesn't affect deities, and he's the son of Hercules and grandson of Zeus. After a hundred years, she can finally be herself around a male!

Unfortunately this male has ulterior motives. He needs Lula to help him change Mount Olympus, but in the process of researching her, he fell for her. I was really hoping that would be explored more in the book, but it looks like it's the subject of the sequel which I'm excited to get my hands on!

My favorite parts of the book captured what happens when a siren goes into heat. Yes, into heat. Don't judge it before you read it. It was so much fun watching the men deal with the onslaught of pheromones, and it made Alex choose what was really important to him. I loved it!

My Song's Curse is a funny, steamy romance starring beings from Greek mythology and a world they no longer influence. It's fast-paced and held my attention through the entire book! I give it 4 stars and will be looking for more from this author.
