Summer at the Cornish Beach Cafe is cute and cozy contemporary romance but it’s also about the central character Jessie finding herself and realizing her worth.

I enjoyed Summer at the Cornish Beach Cafe. I liked the pretty setting and that Jessie was helping her grandad out. The photography aspect of the storyline gives it an artistic and nostalgic feel. The author adds a few more layers to the plot as we get Ashton’s background story as well. This wasn’t just contemporary romance, Jessie has trauma from her stepmom putting her down while she was growing up and Ashton has his own set of things he is dealing with as well, leaving him with trust issues.

The author fleshes out these characters well and I was curious to see how it would turn out for them. While some of the storyline was convenient and predictable I still enjoyed this one and I liked the slow burn romance. Somehow Jessie and Ashton manage to have both slow burn romance and insta-love but that’s ok, it worked well. This is definitely one that could be made into a Hallmark movie and I’m ok with that. This was a nice, easy summer read.

It’s a lovely little read. I guessed the ending but it was a nice journey reading the pages until the end. Yea it’s a bit cliche yea it’s a bit obvious but I liked it.

Really struggling with chick lit at the moment, and this unfortunately didn’t change that for me. Only got 20% of the way through before deciding to stop. Just hadn’t grabbed me enough to want to pick up the book and dive in.

If you like books that are heartwarming and sweet, this is the book for you. For me, whenever Donna Ashcroft pens another novel, I'm ready to read it. Thirty-year-old Jessie was dumped by her fiancé after she learned he had been cheating on her. To take her mind off things, she agrees to accompany her grandfather as he takes a trip down memory lane to Indigo Cove where he had his honeymoon and lived. Jessie also remembers Indigo Cove warmly as it is where she spent her summers and had her first kiss. It is a kiss that she can’t get out of her mind.
Enjoyable.

This was an enjoyable summer read.

I loved the grandfather- granddaughter relationship in particular although all the characters were lovely! There was such a sense of community which was so enjoyable to read.

I’m only sad I can’t actually visit the little cafe at the beach! Although it wasn’t the main focus of the book as the title might suggest it was still a lovely part of it.

This was my first read by Donna Ashcroft but it won’t be my last! Overall it was an enjoyable book that I would recommend to others.

Thank you to Netgalley, the publishing house and the author for thwe opportunity to read a complimentary copy of this book in return for a review based upon my honest opinion.

This was such a lovely, light-hearted story of love and redemption, of finding the good in others as well as yourself. Jessie's relationship with her grandfather was wonderful, I loved their dynamic. That little cafe at the beach, with hot drinks and puzzles, sounds like a great place to get lost for an afternoon or two. I have never read a book of this author's without coming away with a smile. Always a pleasure to read.

This is such a lovely heartwarming read. I loved the setting of Indigo Cove in Cornwall. Although the cafe doesn't feature as much as the title suggests, it was a gorgeous read.
Thank you to Netgalley and the Publisher for my ARC.

This was such a lovely heartwarming read. Jessie agreed to go on a holiday with her grandad, after her wedding was cancelled. He is still mourning her nan, and they recreate their honeymoon trip because he wants to have photos of his memories.
They have such a great relationship. She looks after him and organises to take photos at the hotel they stayed in. The characters are just wonderful and we get to meet them when they visit a cafe where the customers can do jigsaws. There is a real sense of community and the warm welcome they extend to visitors. You can just imagine staying in Indigo Bay.

This was a lovely story about Jessie and Ashton who met briefly in Cornwall when she was 14. Ashton broke Jessie’s heart after running off after their first kiss and she didn’t see him until she returns after having her heartbroken by the fiancé that called off their wedding. She returns with her grandpa who wants to recreate his honeymoon picture album after his wife, Jessie’s granddaughter passed away. It was a fun breezy read that kept me engaged in their romance and life in Indigo Cove.

Fresh from leaving her cheating fiancé, Jessie is Indigo Cove with her grandfather. She is not expecting to meet the man who broke her heart and damaged her confidence years ago. Will this be a second chance for them?

Family, friends, love, photos, puzzles, and the beach make this a cozy summer romance!

Both of our main characters were told they weren't good enough and were a bit damaged from it. Jessie's stepmother kept telling her she wasn't pretty and her fiance had just dumped her and didn't encourage her photography. Ashton's parents treated him badly and up and left him as a teen along with taking his little sister with. Ashton and Jessie meet and kiss as teens and he runs away from her right after, leaving some serious hurt, but when they run into eachother again maybe things will be different.

What I really liked about this book was the cozy setting and cute idea of Jessie recreating her grandparents honeymoon photos. All of the characters are very likeable and you just want to give them hugs when they are having confidence issues. As with Donna's other books, the romance just left me feeling happy by the end. Warm fuzziness all over!

Thank you to Bookoture and Netgalley for providing me a copy of this ARC for my honest review.

I read my first book by Donna last year and it was a Christmas gem, I loved every page and knew I wanted to read more so when I saw this one going up on Netgalley I clicked request straight away.

A lovely light summer read that will leaving you reaching for your kindle constantly, I already love doing jigsaws but this book has just heightened that and if I could find a cafe like the beach cafe I’d quickly become a regular to! Hot chocolate, cake, jigsaws and good conversation… yes please!

Jess and Ashton were quite different characters but both struggling with past demons so it was absolutely lovely to see them slowly (too slowly sometimes) breaking down those barriers and learning to trust and let others into their worlds. I absolutely loved George and Elsie, they were the absolute gems on the book and just made everything that much brighter.

Another fab read of Donna’s and I’ll definitely be back for more! Maybe I should make a start on the backlist
