"Learning Habits: Drive a Learning Culture to Improve Employee and Business Performance" by Sarah Nicholl is a compelling exploration of the transformative power of habits in the workplace. Nicholl, with her extensive experience in learning strategy, presents a practical guide that is both insightful and actionable.

The book is structured into five sections, each meticulously designed to address different levels within an organization - from individual employees to top executives. The foundational section, 'Getting Started,' is a must-read as it lays out the groundwork for understanding the significance of habits and the LEARN framework that Nicholl advocates.

What sets this book apart is its systematic approach, seamlessly blending theory with practice. Nicholl's use of stories as advance organizers is particularly effective, providing context and making the concepts relatable. Each chapter concludes with measurement considerations and key takeaways, which are invaluable for readers looking to implement these strategies in real-world scenarios.

Nicholl emphasizes the keystone habit from the Learn level, advocating for executive-led learning time and the establishment of a learning council. These suggestions are not just theoretical but are backed by behavioral science research, offering a robust framework for fostering a learning culture.

In essence, "Learning Habits" is more than just a book; it's a blueprint for organizations aiming to achieve excellence through a sustained learning culture. Nicholl's expertise shines through every page, making it an essential read for L&D professionals and business leaders alike.

Overall, Sarah Nicholl's "Learning Habits" is a testament to the idea that excellence is a habit, not an act. It's a guide that empowers readers to drive change and performance by cultivating effective learning habits at every organizational level. A highly recommended read for anyone invested in the continuous improvement of their team or organization..

This was a surprisingly easy and informative read!
If you will get your hands on the paperback copy and flip through the book it may seem that book is repetitive with the content, and it is but only because it's an actual handbook, and a very nice one. It goes thoroughly through different communication ways across the company and how to apply habit-sharing, -discussion, and -follow-through in each communication way, mostly meetings.
The book doesn't give you specific habits to apply, but it does a great job of giving you examples of why learning is crucial, how to integrate the habit of learning, and what to look for/what questions to answer to integrate learning successfully. Being a very topic-specific book, it does an amazing job of answering most questions you may have in order to apply the habit of learning in the company.

This book works for individual contributors as well in order to know what to request from yourself and your manager, but I would highly recommend it for employees in management positions and CEOs - the habit of learning won't only support the growth of each employee but will give them additional motivation and interest in the work they do if they are ready to learn and develop their skillset.

Thank you to NetGalley and Kogan Page for an advance copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
