Love a good Zanetti book, which is every one that I’ve read!
You Can Die is the 3rd in a series, which could be read as a stand-alone. I have read the 1st book also, so I feel like I got a little more out of it knowing some of the backstory.
A page turning thriller for sure! Men are being stabbed and left with candy hearts… but why? What is their connection? Special Agent Laurel Snow is on the case, which throws twists and turns along the way. Seeing her develop from the 1st book was amazing.
Let’s not forget her hunky beau Huck. So happy to see they are still developing as well.
Absolutely loved this book, with a twist at the end that I never saw coming!

As always, I also love a good book set in Washington State. Just makes it so much more real to me, as that’s my home state.

Thanks to NetGalley and Kensington Books for this ARC in exchange for review.

Wow! This is a fantastic mystery thriller!

When I picked up this book I did not realize it was the third in a series (Laurel Snow), however I had no issues reading it as a standalone book! I enjoyed it so much that I decided to go back and read the first two books in the series! I loved the authors writing style and the characters- both main and supporting! Highly recommend!

Thank you to NetGalley and Kensington Books for the digital advanced readers copy!!

Laurel and Huck are back in the latest Laurel Snow thriller

Just back from a temporary assignment in DC, Laurel barely has time to take off her coat before she’s called to the scene of a grisly murder. Stabbed repeatedly with Valentine candy shoved in his mouth, the killing has a ritualistic feel. As the bodies start piling up, Laurel races to find the common thread that runs between them. She’s the best at what she does, but everything becomes more complicated when her sociopathic half sister Abigail inserts herself in the middle of Laurel’s investigation.

Helping her is Fish and Wildlife Captain Huck Rivers. Where Laurel relies on logic and patterns, Huck works on gut instinct. Time spent together has Huck understanding Laurel’s sometimes mercurial moods, and Laurel is learning what it means to care about and be cared for by someone. As her investigation heats up, it seems the answers are just out of reach. But she’d never have guessed where this case is leading.

Complex characters, an intricate plot and wonderful writing keep this series interesting. I am thrilled to see the Laurel’s development as her growing relationship with Huck teaches her cues and nuances of social interactions she doesn’t always understand. And Huck is the perfect partner, a gentle and understanding with her as he is hard and unforgiving to the poachers and hunters he often deals with. She’s learning to handle Abigail who, it seems, lives to confound Laurel. Each of the secondary characters has their own personality and we learn a little more about them with each book.

The personal connections to the first victim and the twisted threads that might or might not be clues to motive keep the reader guessing. So many possibilities keep the intensity high. While reading I sometimes felt like I was in the middle of a logic puzzle. If I just laid out the board maybe I could solve the murders before Laurel does. However, she’s a lot smarter than I am. You know it’s a great thriller when you never saw THAT ending coming.

You Can Die is even more of a page-turner than the prior books in the series. Somehow, everything seems more urgent in You Can Die, and the thrilling mystery is thick with emotions as Laurel tries her best to stop yet another serial killer who is playing way too close for comfort.

This is Romantic Suspense/Mystery/Thriller, and this is the third book in the Laurel Snow series. I have the first two books in this series before picking up this book. I really feel you need to have read the first two books in this series to follow some of the things happening in this book. I love this series so much, and I loved being with the characters in this series again. The beginning of this book did not grab me, and I found it hard to follow what was going on at first. I think it is because the book started off with kids finding the body, and the kids were talking about kids stuff. I feel we as readers were dumped into the story at a weird point, but I loved the book other than that. The mystery in this book was really good, and it also did a good job keeping some of the stuff that was happening in the other books in this series going. This book had a ton of drama and some going on, but it was done well and I had no trouble following what was going on. I loved the action and fast paced of this book. I really cannot wait for the next book in this series. I was kindly provided an e-copy of this book by the publisher (Zebra) or author (Rebecca Zanetti) via NetGalley, so I can give an honest review about how I feel about this book. I want to send a big Thank you to them for that.

Special Agent and FBI profiler Laurel Snow is back with a twisted case of murder. As the bodies pile up, will she and her team be able to stop the killer before more lives are lost? The murdered men seem to be outstanding citizens, at least until she and her team delve more deeply into their lives. Her love interest, Fish and Wildlife Captain Huck Rivers’ office is located in the same building which works well for her as he often provides back up. Of course, life will never go smooth for Laurel as long as Abigail, her half-sister, is nearby. She knows that Abigail has committed crimes, whether on her own or with assistance, but has been unable to prove anything…yet. She is torn between the new case, the struggles her best friend and employee is dealing with when her missing father reappears. Laurel is an accomplished agent, academically brilliant with an eidetic memory, but will she be able to stop the killer and find the evidence that she needs to put Abigail in jail? How will the personal news she receives affect her relationship with Huck? Outstanding series! I received an advance review copy at no cost and without obligation for an honest review. (paytonpuppy)

What is going on? This latest installment in this suspense series is a wilder ride. Just when I thought the drama could not get crazier for Laurel, Ms. Zanetti proves me wrong. When it comes to dysfunctional family dynamics, Laurel has it all. Between her missing abusive father and her stalker sister, Laurel has her hands full. I love it!

Whilst Laurel is trying to figure out the new serial killer, she is trying to stay ahead of her sister, Abigail. Whilst I usually lean favourablely towards high functional sociopaths, especially if they are female, Abigail continues to rub me the wrong way. Mostly because her integrity is missing and doesn't align with mine. Still, she does make life interesting for all.

What I love about this series is the mystery part. Watching Laurel's detecting procedures as well as how she puts the evidence together to solve the case keeps me riveted. I like how focused Laurel is on her job and she can identify her own personal biases. She is so competent that it is amusing to see her grapple with her relationship. Huck is a man with baggage that he still hasn't fully worked through. Laurel and Huck are constantly being tripped up by Abigail. It is icky how Abigail goes after Huck.

Fortunately Huck and Laurel are mature adults and are able to communicate with each other. Even of they have issues, they are able to work it out. I like that their relationship isn't an instalove. Instead this relationship is more realistic with its moving a step forward and a few steps back.

This suspense is recommended to readers who enjoy detective work and family drama.

I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

You Can Die is the third installment in Zanetti’s Laurel Snow series. Going in, I thought this would be the final installment, but it’s not.

Laurel Snow is investigating a case where men are being stabbed to death and left with valentines candy in their mouths and throats. She is figuring out her way in her relationship with Huck, ans Abagail is still around causing trouble.

This was an easy and fun read but a little predictable. I look forward to reading the next one and hope that we begin to see Abagail get her due.

This series gets better and better. I love the twists and turns this one took. I was sucked in from the beginning and turned loose at the end. It is amazing. The villain is fantastic (as is the rest of the characters). The plot was unique and interesting packed with wows! Can't wait for the next one.

A great psychological thriller with lots of plot twists and turns. You just never know what the sisters will get up to.

Laurel Snow is an FBI agent whose job it is to hunt serial killers. Laurel has a few problems. Among them are a staff shortage, bad winter weather, and a new boyfriend named Huck. And family, did I mention family? A grifter father she hasn't met. And a long lost sister she suspects is the cause of the mysterious deaths. If only Laurel could find a way to prove her sister is involved.

I would not advise reading this at night and then trying to go to sleep. There are murders.

Romantic suspense, well drawn characters, good mystery. Extra points for Hucks search and rescue dog and Laurel's newly adopted rescue cat. I see the beginnings of a new found family.

Laurel Snow is an FBI agent who is trying to track down a serial killer while dealing with her psycho half sister. I did not figure out who the killer was until it was revealed. I also enjoyed watching her relationship with Fish and Wildlife officer Hank evolve more. I really enjoy this series and am looking forward to the next installment.

I really enjoy this series! Love the mystery behind the murders, and I like Laurel’s personality. I enjoy the writing style too. An entertaining read! There was something missing a bit from this book of the series though; I felt Laurel wasn’t at her best in regards to solving the case, or how she let her manipulative sister get to her so easily. So I was a bit disappointed there, but I still just love the vibe to this series. Looking forward to more!

4.25 stars--YOU CAN DIE is the third instalment in Rebecca Zanetti’s contemporary, adult LAUREL SNOW suspense thriller focusing on FBI Special Agent Laurel Snow. YOU CAN DIE can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty but I recommend reading the series in order for back story and cohesion as there is an ongoing plot line throughout.

WARNING: Due to the nature of the story line premise, there may be triggers for more sensitive readers.

Told from several omniscient third person perspectives including Laurel YOU CAN DIE follows FBI profiler Laurel Snow as she begins to investigate another possible serial killer, someone who is making the killings personal, leaving Valentine candy hearts in their wake but as Laurel begins to ferret out the clues, a connection to the past merges most if not all of the murder victims to a local attorney’s office. Meanwhile, Laurel Snow continues to suspect her half-sister Abigail is somehow involved in another string of murders, as her sister’s proclivities are questionable at best. As Laurel and her team, including Washington Fish and Wildlife Captain Huck Rivers, amass a list of potential suspects, sins of the past force Laurel to navigate a potential minefield of betrayal and madness.

While our heroine Laurel Snow appears to be on the autism spectrum, a woman with several degrees and doctorates who struggles with basic day to day interactions, her half-sister Dr. Abigail Cane’s degrees and doctorates hide a psychopathic and narcissistic personality, rife for manipulation and murder.

The relationship between Laurel and Captain Huck Rivers is both professional and personal. Captain Rivers is often involved in the murder investigations as the locations and sites are in his jurisdiction but after hours Huck and Laurel spend their time commiserating out the days’ events, and talking about a future together.

YOU CAN DIE is a story of dysfunctional family beliefs in opposition to Laurel’s sense of duty and honor; betrayal and vengeance, secrets and lies, and retribution for sins of the past. The premise is detailed, intriguing, dramatic and intense; the characters are dynamic, purposeful, questionable and lost.

How does a story that was feeding me answers a crumb at a time, leave me with so many questions in the end? That’s the wonder of Zanetti’s writing and why I consider all of her books must-reads. Whether it’s romantic suspense, paranormal romance, or thriller/mysteries such as You Can Die, I’m guaranteed a worthwhile and enjoyable experience.

A killer is targeting men, stabbing them multiple times and leaving them choking on Valentine’s candy. It makes for a macabre scene set by the author, but I was utterly fascinated. Each clue led to another question, another victim, another link, and honestly… I really was kept in the dark until the end. I had an inkling, shrugged it off, and then realized I should have trusted my instincts!

So I have questions and I’m guessing they’ll be fed to me in any book to come for this series. Dr. Abigail Caine is definitely an enigma, as well as Zeke Caine. They may be Laurel’s family (her sister and father), but she doesn’t know them. She lived her whole life without them and if it were up to her, she’d live the rest of her life the same way.

Is Abigail a killer? Is she as wicked as she seems through Laurel’s eyes? And will Zeke feature in some way in the future?

Honestly, all I really want for Laurel is some true happiness with Huck (I LOVE this man) and a semblance of peace. Is that too much to ask?

A serial killer is killing men of questionable character and leaving candy hearts in their mouths. Assigned to solve these murders is FBI Special Agent Laurel Snow, her make shift FBI team (kate, Walter,& Nester) and Laurel's handsome lover Captain Huck of Fish & Wildlife. And to make Laurel and everyone else miserable is Lauren's psychotic half sister Abigail.
I have read every one of Mrs. Zanetti's work and have never been disappointed, one of the things I love best about her books is there is always atleast one OH MY GOSH moments that you just didn't see coming, and let me tell you this story is a prime example. I also really enjoyed getting to know Laurel's new FBI teammates more in this book, their personalities really came through. If your a fan of the previous Laurel Snow books you are going to be in for an adventure and an emotional ride. If you've haven't read the series I really urge you too, especially if you like a great who done it with a nice dose of romance.

I absolutely LOVED this installment to the Laurel Snow series. In this third book in the series you just get more of everything. It felt like there was more action, more suspense and mystery, and more romance than in the previous books, which I also thoroughly enjoyed. Laurel Snow is back in Genesis Valley, her hometown, on a more permanent basis, Fresh off two serial killer cases, she gets back into town after several weeks working on the east coast, to another murder that her team is asked to help with. This quickly turns into a series of connected murders, likely another serial killer, with connections leading to her complicated family life.

During the course of working on this case, she spends more time with Huck, a Washington Fish and Wildlife Captain and her work neighbor as well as love interest, and we get to see this relationship develop even more. Everything about this story worked for me and I especially loved that I didn't at all guess the ending. I love when a mystery is able to take me by surprise. If you haven't read any of these, you should definitely start with the first one - they are absolutely worth the time!

This is one of my favorite mysteries/suspense series. As the third installment of this series you have to wonder if it will hold up to the previous two. The answer is yes, yes it does. Laurel is such a complex character, and seeing her interaction with others is fascinating. Her sister, Abigail, adds another layer to these stories. Her narcissistic personality makes her such a wonderful character to hate/love and you never know exactly how Abigail will manage to try weave her way into Laurel’s life. I have always loved the dynamics of her makeshift FBI office and crew. Huck is great as well. I really enjoyed this book and the story kept me guessing until the very end!

YOU CAN DIE (A Laurel Snow Thriller Book 3) by Rebecca Zanetti

Men are dying in the Pacific Northwest, their bodies found near churches, charities, and counselling centers—each with valentine candy hearts shoved down their throats. They’re good men with families and community ties—or so they seem until Laurel Snow and her team begin to investigate. Then the case takes a shockingly personal turn when the father she’s never met, a former pastor, is attacked in exactly the same way.
Now, besides solving the case, Laurel is on the hunt to discover where her father has been. Complicating things is Laurel’s troubled half-sister, Abigail, a brilliant sociopath determined to prove that they’ve both inherited their father’s malignant narcissism.
Assisting Laurel is Washington Fish and Wildlife Captain Huck Rivers, a dangerous loner whose reliance on gut instinct puts him at odds with Laurel’s coolly analytic approach. But the choice may be moot when the killer hones in on Huck’s own dark secrets—putting him and Laurel squarely in the crosshairs.

REVIEW

You Can Die by Rebecca Zanetti is the third book in the series Laurel Snow and you need to read the books in order to enjoy fully the story and Laurel and Huck’s journey.
FBI agent Lauren Snow and her team need to hunt a new serial killer. The timeline of the three books in the series in very fast, some members of Laurel’s team still need to recover from the previous case, and the first murder strikes near them, involving Laurel from the very beginning, and the killer’s victims grow fast.
At first the target and the connections lead to a law firm, but then the pattern change and it’s difficult to read.
I love Laurel character, she’s a total badass on the field, she has a beautiful mind, but in her private life she feels a little vulnerable with Huck and their story. She’s not a flirty girl, she never plays games and she hadn’t dated a lot in the past. But Huck can read her so well and knows how to put at easy Laurel, telling her always the truth directly- He’s also a little grumpy, smart and very protective, but he respects her role, knowing she needs to be the one to take charge in her job. He restrains himself and respect their boundaries because he knows she’s trained and very good.
Serial killers aren’t the only complication in Laurel and Huck life, there is also Laurel’s “family”.
The real thorn is Abigail, Laurel’s half-sister, more dangerous of the serial killer, creepy. She enjoys playing mind games and use people as her puppets.
The plot is engaging and intricate, the characters compelling, I only wished to read more solo time for Laurel and Huck. I laughed so hard when Huck said an exasperated “What now?” when the phone rang.
But… there are also a lot of surprises I can’t tell you, lot lot of them, so go find them!

FBI Special Agent Laurel Snow is back in the third romantic suspense novel, You Can Die by Rebecca Zanetti. Snow returns from back East when she is called to the first of many grisly murder scenes. Come see why I enjoy this series and its cast of characters.

In You Can Die, Laurel and the team learned they have approval for their satellite office. Which means ordering a proper desk and another agent. All of that will have to wait because we have a serial killer on the loose.

Someone is killing men who all seem to have ties to a law firm, but Laurel will need to dig for the motive. This was an interest case with plenty of suspects, including Snow’s sister, but the how and why isn’t clear. Someone from Snow’s past is back in town and things get complicated.

I enjoy FBI Special Agent Laurel Snows’ mind and how she operates. Some might find her cold, but Washington Fish and Wildlife Captain Huck Rivers, see her. We see some major development in the romance department, although it takes a backseat to the demanding investigations and danger.

The series arc concerning her half-sister gained some ground but also came with more questions. The woman is scary and brilliant. Snow will have to outfox her to bring her to justice.

Zanetti gave us an interesting case with plenty of suspects as she slowly gave us breadcrumbs, red herrings, and twists. I admit I did not figure out the killer, but once revealed, it all clicked into place.

Fans of murder-mystery and suspense with a dash of romance will enjoy this series. Despite each novel having a case resolved, I recommend reading them in order. There is an overall arc concerning Snow’s sister and the romantic elements will be appreciated more from the beginning.
